(PIT/LAK) - 2022 conditional 3rd round pick + 2023 conditional 4th round pick for Carter
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>It's all good until you realize Carter isn't even an NHL player anymore. Look at his analytics. Absolutely terrible</div></div>
He's an old man just like me, so let's cut him some slack here ;)
Regardless, it's pretty obvious Burkie wanted Getzlaf from Anaheim but Getzlaf wouldn't waive his NMC.
So, he got Carter instead.
Carter's analytics from the regular season won't mean anything if he bounces back in the playoffs.
He's a stand up, character-guy, a seasoned playoff veteran, a good pro and he's not a pending UFA.
Pittsburgh did well here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>doublem24</b></div><div>I was curious where Comtois sat with Ducks fans.
From an outsiders view, it's hard for me to solve between the outlooks of Comtois, Steel, Tracey and Jones. Zegras and Drysdale are the standouts and the other 4 hover around the same spot in my brain... mind you, it's with a very macro perspective.
The Guentzal comparison is really interesting, I never thought of that. I perceived Comtois as a heavier, less cerebral player, but I think it's a totally valid take.
I'd love for Pitt to target Max Jones... what do you think the price for him is? I remember talking with you before about which pieces Anaheim would be looking to acquire from Pitt, I don't think they add up well as Pitt doesn't have much that would move the needle for the Ducks.</div></div>
I think that the general consensus is that Comtois is ahead of all of our young players and prospects at LW. Max Jones appears to be developing well, and Dan Heinen might do so, too, if he gets enough playing time, but Sonny Milano's career has been derailed by his injury this year and we haven't seen anything of Brayden Tracey yet. The GC is also that Sam Steel might be another Casey Mittelstadt, with the consolation that he wasn't taken as high in the draft. The jury is still out on Troy Terry, too, but I think that we'll protect him in the expansion draft.
As you point out, our two teams are poor trade partners because of your three best prospects, two of them (Poulin and Joseph) are lefties and thus redundant of our needs, so the only Penguin assets in whom we might be interested are Nathan Legare and your 2022 first-round draft pick.

The only guy I can see us trading Comtois for is John Marino. Both are exempt from the expansion draft.
We firmly believe that Max Comtois is our future Jake Guentzel. He's certainly our best current chance at a #1 LW. That's why we're so loath to trade him.

not a bad idea, and i think if they try to trade pettersson in the offseason they could regain a couple picks back

These are terrible and you should be ashamed of yourself lol.
But honestly, could get more for MP. Don’t think they move him until after the expansion draft. Defensive depth (especially a top 4 one) is more important than 4th liners.

We said No to Pettersson last time when the price was lower, purely on the basis of fit plus the fact that we'd have to expose him or Kale Clague (or both, now that we've acquired Brendan Lemieux) in the expansion draft. Why would we say Yes when the price is raised?

Wings pass, they'll get a better asset than two late 3rd's for a Ryan and Glendening package

LA isn't a good fit for Pettersson. LA is looking for someone with a higher ceiling. They already have guys that can play in their 2nd and 3rd pairings. They need a bonafide #2 guy to play on the top pair.

II think it's pretty rational, pitt might have to add in a 4th to wings side, but otherwise it's not roastable

If they were going to add, what do you think their approach would be?</div></div>
Burke and Hextall have basically said they want to add a physical bottom 6 player. I think Glendening is on their radar and wouldn't be shocked if they picked him up. I think Bobby Ryan is too, because of the familiarity with Burke.
They have come out and said Legare and Poulin are off the table, so that basically eliminates a lot of younger high end talent to pick up. I think they just add a more physical bottom six guy.

I think people are looking at their adding the wrong way.
They have 2 top lines if healthy.
They have a 3rd line, it's just not the line all of us want as a 3rd line. But they are playing 15 minutes a night and doing well enough. They might not be scoring but they are still outscoring the other team when out there.
What they need is a 8-10 minute a night line that can be a two way line. I don't see them spending big to get it. They simply aren't playing enough minutes to.
McCann is there, out of place and everyone knows it because he's a good offensive player but can be a two way guy. They should sit Jankowski and play Gaudreau and then they got one winger spot open for whoever can fil lit. And frankly, I don't see them looking to far for that.
Their defense is set. No need to change it. Jarry plays well and they have a decent team. Not great decent.
That "3rd" line just isn't going to get enough minutes to justify what fans want and I think they know it. Because to give them minutes means giving the "4th" line less. But why, when they are so good.

Glendening is so limited offensively I see his return around the same as Nick Cousins from last season which was a 4th. You can hype up his defensive play as much as you want but he is a UFA on the wrong side of 30. GM's aren't going to rush in and waste assets on that.
Virtanen is too much of a gamble to trade for. He makes a good bit more in actual salary next year than his cap hit shows, so teams probably aren't lining up to pay bigger dollars for a project like that. Plus, as a contending team you are better off getting something more proven to place into the lineup.
Also, I don't see Pettersson as a mid season trade. The amount of injuries we have had leaves me to believe that no one on that D is getting moved.

They don't trust POJ there. He was getting benched at the end of his stint.

Wings are going to get at least a 3rd for LGD, so if you switch that then from a wings side we are happy people

There is so much interest in him and he has the best faceoff percentage in the league plus his low salary, I'd be shocked if he didn't get at least a 3rd. It's fair and not overvaluing him

At least it's not a multi-year deal given Rutherford's recent track record.
