<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>svensk_forskare</b></div><div>see the problem is, if dallas offered marchment that contract with low taxes and a team that made the playoffs, theres no way he would take the same deal with the sharks
you'd have to pay more, or give him more years, and it's already risky as is for a guy with 1 big season...
similar for nino - why pay cali taxes when tennessee is cheaper and preds are a wildcard contender still</div></div>
but i agree Greer has not been impressive at all and this team would be better if it could actually be assembled

My Draft day 1 thoughts
Consolidated NHL draft thoughts with some effort:
1: Slaf - Wright’s better, would’ve much rather Wright, moves made later helped to soften the blow of not getting Wright
2: Nemec - NJ didn’t need a C, Wright’s better but i don’t hate the pick
3: Cooley - Again, Wright’s better not a bad pick though
4: Wright - Steal, Wright should’ve gone 1
5: Gauthier - HUGE REACH, i am not a Gauthier fan at all, should’ve gone earliest 15 imo
2 Habs trades - Losing Romanov sucks, however, Dach’s ceiling is better imo and he helps the hurt of not picking Wright, i like these 2 trades by HuGo
6: Jiricek - Good pick, CBJ needs the RD help, arguably no 1c left
7: Korchinski - A bit of a reach, imo Mateychuk’s better and Korchinski’s definitely a project but it’s not horrible
8: Kasper - Big reach again, Kasper’s a high floor low ceiling guy imo, it’s Yzerman though so who knows
9: Savoie - Steal, love Savoie, he just oozes talent, i believe he stays at C
10: Mintyukov - Bit of a reach again, not bad though
Sharks trade - No idea how it only costs 34+45 to move up to 11, that’s a bad 1st move imo by Grier
11: Geekie - Big risk, has the talent but the skating needs a lot of work, we’ll see how it pans out
12: Mateychuk - i love this pick, Mateychuk’s so talented, a real unicorn of a defenceman, they might not need a LD but the talent’s there to make a big impact on the lineup
13: Nazar - Good pick, Nazar’s talented and Chicago had to do 1 good move today
14: McGroarty - Decent pick, I’d have rather Lekkerimaki/Kemell but if McGroarty can improve his skating and consistency, he’ll be good
15: Lekkerimaki - steal, i love Lekki, another guy who oozes talent
16: Ostlund - surprised that isn’t Kemell but Ostlund’s good, decent pick, if he can add a bit of strength, he’s your 2c of the future
17: Kemell - Steal, the fall stops, elite shot and skills
18: Bichsel - Good pick, has size and good defensive skills, offense is a work in progress
19: Ohgren - Good pick, solid well rounded player
20: Miro - Very risky pick, could be a steal, could absolutely bust, he has a great shot and is physical but man his consistency, vision and defence sucks
21: Pickering - good pick, a project but very talented
22: Gaucher - a bit of a reach but Gaucher’s a very safe bet
23: Snuggerud - not a Snuggerud fan at all, a bit of a reach imo, has a good shot though
24: Yurov, steal, love him, the fall stops, so talented
Mrazek trade - solid deal for both
25: Rinzel, massive reach imo, huge project, Chesley, Nelson, Casey, etc all better options
26: Mesar - dont hate it, it’s not an off the board pick, Chesley, Howard and Lambert are much better though
27: Bystedt - Lmao, Lambert was right there, thats a bad pick on so many levels, Bystedt’s not worth 27 by a decent amount, should’ve gone around 40
28: Kulich, decent pick overall, better options but not a bad pick
Kassian trade - solid deal for both
29: Maveric Lamoureux - Big reach imo, shouldn’t have gone until earliest the mid 2nd imo
30: Brad Lambert - the fall stops, steal for Winnipeg
31: Isaac Howard - another steal for Tampa, love Howard, very talented player
32: Reid Schaefer - lol Oilers, way to go off the board by a mile, huge reach

Meier's over PPG in one of the worst scoring team in the league. He's actually really good - probably would be the best player in Buffalo.
That being said, this offer is way too much for him. That QO is extremely harsh. But Mittelstadt and low-ish picks are far from enough for him too.

that's true. maybe this is just an anomaly season for Petry but I would worry about him bouncing back. Granted, you're right - he's 3 years younger which is good.

Won't disagree that Burns might not be a great idea for Dallas, but on basically the same contract, I can't imagine someone wanting Petry who plays 22 mins a night with 16 points compared to Burns who plays 26 mins a night with 50 points.

I'd have an incredibly hard time imagining the devils dumping a 23 year old kid who finally appears to be turning a corner just to get out under a contract that's only on the book for one more season when they're in basically the opposite of cap trouble. Just makes no sense.

I’m also a huge Michigan fan. Growing up I wanted to wear that striped helmet so bad. Lol my dad even sent me to Michigan hockey camps in the summer. But yeah, equally as confused when NCAA ended and he went unsigned.

Can’t believe he wasn’t signed after last year’s NCAA season ended. Guess GMs really don’t like shorter goalies.

New Sharks GM Roadmap with Big Moves and Getting Younger While Trying to Win Now
Arizona does not pay to take our cap dumps, Simek alone would cost a 4th just to move him, and Labanc is almost unmovable at this time after his disastrous season.
best case i would pair Balcers with Simek and deal them both to Arizona (Balcers as a sweetener for Arizona to take on Simek)
and hope Labanc can rebound next year so we can either trade him at the deadline or that he becomes valuable to us again enough to keep.
Bonino is a better/ cheaper option for 4c than Tierney.
Strome is a dangerous signing as i think he is more a product of his wings than an actually play pusher, better option would be to get a young prospect to fill the 3C like Reedy or Bordeleau, but i could be wrong here.
Marchment I like picking him up if we don't sign Dahlen. big strong wing to support our smaller forwards.
Nichushkin i would say is an either or with Marchment sign one not both.
and if this is the lineup were in risk of losing Meier as we wont have enough space next season to resign him.
We would be better offensively but maybe weaker D wise (Burns isn't the best D but he is decent in his own zone and still a top 15 point producer)
still this would probably be a playoff team but not sure we go very deep.

Chuck probably isnt this smart
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bunnymcfoo</b></div><div>Yeah, as far as I can tell, the teams that are 100% out of the playoffs & with 5m in cap space are Arizona, Buffalo, Columbus, Detroit, New Jersey, Ottawa (ha), Philly & Seattle - I think it's a safe bet that at least two of the eight are out (most likely Arizona and Ottawa) but given that we know that Anaheim is on his no fly list (sorry, sorry, i crack myself up), I think it's unlikely that all of them are off the table. There's got to be at least a couple of teams on that list that Vegas can try calling - and if I'm one of those GMS I take them for all I can.
They'd be insane to try and move Smith. Sure, he's UFA next season, but it would be a genuine mistake to break up the Misfit Line if they're serious about trying to make the playoffs.</div></div>
From what I’ve heard, it’s the Canadian and california teams that are on his NTC. I’d think Philly isn’t on his no trade list. But I can’t imagine that teams would take less than anaheim was getting. Teams know how desperate vegas is to get rid of him now. From what I understand is that not only do they need to get rid of Dadanov, but they need a significant LTIR contract too just to get Stone off LTIR. Which really limits their choices.
