Buffalo isn't trading all that for a guy with 1 year to UFA and a 10 million QO

Shark fans get real defensive when people talk about Meier's contract.

If he gets traded, it should be to a contender that can actually make use of his CURRENTLY cheap AAV, not teams like Buffalo and the Devils. Every GM in the league is going to treat him like a (slightly younger) pending UFA next year, rebuilding teams don't trade big futures like this for pending UFAs, contenders do.

Sabres are not moving Cozens.

Wtf Meier isnt even that good. Swap out Cozens with Mittelstadt and take the lowest 1st and its a discussion

Meier's over PPG in one of the worst scoring team in the league. He's actually really good - probably would be the best player in Buffalo.

That being said, this offer is way too much for him. That QO is extremely harsh. But Mittelstadt and low-ish picks are far from enough for him too.

This doesn't work for buffalo. Buffalo is fairly set on the wings and left d, I see needs at 1c, right d (defensive, prefer physical right shot, right d), and vet goalie. Even if meier was signed long term, I can't see paying a premium for a winger.

I'd do it if Cozens wasn't involved and change that 1st

The Sharks have been very clear that they're not in a rebuild, they're intending to contend ASAP - moving their best winger who'd playing at a PPG rate isn't compatible with that goal, at all. The QO is a nightmare, but I'm confident that they'll find some way to swing it.

Dahlin, Power, Skinner. Potentially: Cozens, Quinn, Peterka, Krebs

Meier is Skinner, without a 40 goal season. Youre elevating him to the level of Ovechkin to try and win an arguement or your severly underrating the Sabres and still pretending they're a bottom feeder. Hes a decent NHL winger, hes not a franchise defining player

Right now based on this year's performance only I would take Meier over every BUF player. Is that the whole picture? No, but I've never said it was.

Just because you were drafted high with lots of hype. If you cant play you cant play thus your value drops. Buffalo and the player needs to part ways for both sake. He's 23 and several younger players have passed him on the depth chart. He's a mid round pick in value. Not going to net a 1st or a star player.

I agree. I don't want Mittelstadt nor Meier and they aren't getting any teams #1 forward prospect for Meier either

Let's all agree Meier is a very good NHL player who has one more RFA year and will be expecting a significant raise next year.
I just think the Sabres will NOT be making big trades.
Buffalo traveled down this rabbit hole, with Tim Murray moving picks and prospects for players who may not make the Sabres better.
The Sabres finished last in 2014-15; 54 pts before adding O'Reilly, Kane, Okposo and Lehner, last in 2017-18; 62 pts after adding them.
Removing this year from his resume Meir's stats are 317 gms, 88 goals, 100 assists, 188 pts, Alex Tuch including this year is gms 303 goals 73 assists 104 points 177.
Meier's first two years stats are 115 24 18 42 Cozens first two year are 118 17 33 50
I wonder why Buffalo would trade a player whose first two years mirror Meier's then add a first and second to get another Tuch.
I hope I provided sufficient evidence why Buffalo will NOT be trading Cozens and why they may not be making ANY block buster trades.

I am expecting Cozens to be really good next year and beyond, maybe he can duplicate Meier's third year and knock in 30 goals or reach 60 pts.

Thompson has 37 goals 67 points, i guess that means the Sabres should trade him for Eklund, Weisblatt and a 1st and 2nd. Weisblatt and Eklund only have 4 NHL points between the 2 of them, by your logic this is a steal for SJS

How so? same logic... instead of name calling prove me wrong. Thompson may be a 40 goal scorer this season, thats 10x the amount of NHL points both prospects have combined. We dont look big picture, we just look at what they did this year according to y'all so why does San Jose not jump on that?

You are comparing an nhl player to two prostwho have a combined 9 games, that’s stupid.

Also this is a career year for Thompson too, the guy was worthless prior to this year in every advanced stat possible. Meier has had other decent years unlike Thompson. I think it should be Meier for Power, Peterka, Levi and all your other prospects that haven’t had half the year Meier has. Sounds ridiculous right? Yes.
