Deadline with EK65 Three Way
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>I'd build on that Pens trade. What if you added Blueger + 3rd for Sturm?</div></div>
Sturm's been fantastic for us, so I'm a bit hesitant to let him go this soon. Still, I think that could be doable. We need draft picks badly, and Sturm has proven to play well in playoff hockey.

Go for it
If you want a Timo trade to work, swap Voit with Knies. But even then, I think Buffalo and New Jersey are more realistic destinations, as they can offer the Sharks more enticing prospects.

More retention than I like, but I'd take that if I was Mike. Labanc needs new scenery and he can still be a solid mid-6er who can play on the Power Play units. Neither Steen nor Smith excites me, but at least the latter is out of contract at the end of the season and the former can stay in the AHL if he turns into nothing. The multiple picks never hurt either.

Islanders
That package ain't going to work for Timo. The 2023 1st round and Raty would've come in handy but since Lou already spent those for Horvat, I just don't see how the Islanders could come up with an enticing offer for a Timo trade to happen.
Barabanov has proven to be a good playmaking 2nd line winger with the Sharks, but I'm also not sure if he's a fit for the Islanders. They need goals and Barbie is more of an assists/setup winger. Good player though and easily worth a decent package in his own right.

Massive trade
I'd do that if I were Mike. Hajek's a pylon but he'll be out of contract soon enough anyway and an additional 2nd round pick could do wonders for our farm.
Sharks accept.

Graviteh Trades for Timo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>That is too rich for me as a sabres fan. It is also far far more than you are asking from the leafs
Sneaky with Neuchev.</div></div>
I know re: the Leafs. I don't think it makes sense for Toronto given their cap issues, as it would effectively make Timo a rental. Getting Knies would be good but I don't think Dubas will want to part with hiim just yet.
As great as it would be get the haul proposed, the Devils would probably be giving up too much for this trade to work. I'm also not sure how willing they'd be to pay for Timo's extension given Bratt will also be out of contract as a RFA, but there's probably an adjusted package to make this work. Perhaps...
- NJ gets: Timo
- SJ gets: Holtz, Sharangovich, Blackwood, lottery-protected 1st, 2024 3rd (for Blackwood cap dump)
For the Sabres, I think they're the best fit for Timo but I could work with a different package. Was thinking of:
- Buffalo gets: Timo, Megna
- SJ gets: Neuchev, Levi, lottery protected 1st, 5th (for Megna)

Value Check Boeser and Garland any team
Vancouver should've traded Boeser last season when his value was still high. As it stands, I could see him going for a 4th or a classic "hockey trade" player swap, but not much higher than that atm.
As for Garland, I love his game and he'd be a good fit for a playoff team. Could see someone willing to pay a 2nd round pick if retention is included, but he'd probably get a Bjorkstrand-like package without retention.

Wild Swings to Save Sheldon
This is an awful trade for the Sharks. Giving away Timo for no draft picks would be a terrible move. Add the best forwards we have this season on top of Timo all for just Marner (with no draft picks in return), and you have a non-starter. Easy no for San Jose.

If we were a playoff team, I <em>might</em> have considered a trade for Marner. In our current state? And with the cap hit and parental baggage Marner's carrying? And this proposal leading us to lose Timo and EK65 with no additional assets attached with Marner? Lol, no.
This is one of the worst trades I've seen in a while. No thanks, this is an easy pass for the Sharks.

San Jose Sharks signed Mario Ferraro (4 Years / $3,250,000 AAV)
This more-or-less matches with the contract I was expecting the Sharks to re-sign Ferraro, and rightly so. He's a leader on the ice and will have a lighter defensive load this upcoming season given the Burns trade. This is a great contract, and one that should give Ferraro the time he needs to continue to grow.

Calgary Flames signed Jonathan Huberdeau (8 Years / $10,500,000 AAV)
I'm torn on this. For an elite playmaker who was a Hart finalist last season, the AAV for Huberdeau is fantastic. He's going to be a good engine for a lot of Calgary's play during their window, and his playstyle will means he doesn't need to rely on physical attributes that would decline with age such as speed.
8 years is a really long for term though, and long-term can hinder the ability to add assets to keep a window open (as my team learned the hard way... please don't remind me of Pickles or EK65). Moreover, the contract is effectively buyout proof until the final year when he's 38 and jury's still out on how he'd fit in with Daryl Sutter's tactics.
I will lean to a cautious Yes on whether this contract is good especially given the Flames' need to keep stars and get assets for Tkachuk, but I can see why others think this is a bad deal.

Either Raty or Wahlstrom. Rest of the package is okay, but we do need a top prospect to make this a done deal.

New Season
As amazing as it would be to land JT Miller at that price, there's no chance Vancouver will remotely consider that offer. Moreover, EK65 has a NMC and I don't think he'll wanna be waiving to live in a college dorm in Tempe.
The only places I could see Karlsson waiving is a Canadian market (namely Toronto, Ottawa, or Calgary) or a US Original 6 team, but we'd need to retain substantial salary and cross our fingers that he doesn't get hurt again to make him appealing.

Its Timo Time
Stanley we could do without since he'd probably be either a scratch or a bottom pairing D. That said, Grier does like his grit players (as seen with NYR's acquisition of Reaves and Goodrow's Tanev contract), so the package you shared is one that would be realistically be tempting for Mike. In a perfect world, we'd do Perfetti, a defenseman prospect, 2023 1st and 2025 4th for Meier plus 2023 CBJ 5th, but I wouldn't object to Lucius so this isn't the worst package I've seen.

I would've stuck with $900k to $1M a year, but this cap hit was right where I was expecting the Sharks to pay for Lorentz. Sounds like he makes an effort game to game so I'm glad about that at least, but that means we're outta cap space now. We're gonna be busy with outgoing trades lest we lose Ferraro to an offer sheet.

It's tempting, but as Cheech pointed out the two draft picks would likely be near the end of the 1st round. I'd be okay with a Timo trade with the Oilers but I'm not sure if your team has the blue-chip prospect needed to get it done.
