Love this for both sides. Hischier and Meier would be lethal.

It's not exactly the reported ask, but I think this is a good deal. I'm more worried about NJ getting Meier than the fact NY got Tarasenko.

Have said it a hundred times. I don’t believe Holtz will be available. But if the Devils did free up one of their top prospects, it probably makes more sense for both sides to center the deal around Nemec. I know it breaks the Swiss connection thing…and the Djurgardens connection…but I think both teams would be better off than with a deal around Holtz.

Holtz played 20 games this year for the devils and it didn’t really click. And he’s a A- prospect his skating is abit of an issue plus you keep Nemec,Hughes,Mercer,Muk and get a unique player he’s one of the best goals scorers in the league is 6ft2 220 and plays a physical game. The Devil lose nobody off there current roster and get one of the best power forwards in hockey who happens to be Swiss just like your captain

Sharks as far as next season goes don’t have a lot of cap space and a lot of holes, this year they signed a bunch of scrap yard pieces, next year they sign less and give the young guys more options. 24/25 will be better but still weak for me 25/26 is when sharks start looking decent again.
I would see what we can get for Karlsson. Move Meier for the best return we can get! move Reimer, Bonino, Labanc for whatever we can. then hope for top 3 pick and lots of picks in this draft to revamp the prospect pool. and start building from within just like NJD are doing. as for D whatever we get i am hoping for short term replacements and focusing on the 24 draft for D as that draft has a strong D class forming.

I get it. I really do. It’s a well-worn narrative that can be convincing.

But if Devils were selling Holtz, he would be on showcase in AHL, racking up pts. And they wouldn’t be talking to reporters about all “the interest” they have been getting on their prospect dmen. I think they clearly are hoping for a deal around Bahl, Mukahamdullin, Walsh, etc.

Maybe I’m wrong….but I think the NJ will be one of those guys and more in terms of picks (maybe even two 1sts).

Holtz isn’t expendable. That’s the thing. They are developing him. He just turned 21, has 2+ years on ELC, and is on one of the most patient clubs around. (And for stat watchers, he is producing close to Meier’s sums are same age).

I know lots of Devils fans are willing to give up on Holtz…but there were also a lot willing to give up on Hughes and Hischier. And I am guessing there is a big overlap between those two groups.

I’m also in the mindset Holtz isn’t really being discussed in talks unless he is the main piece going back but there is just no way Nemec is moving. I think the Devils will offer SJ anybody in the pool outside of Hughes Nemec and Holtz. I think SJ will end up with Muk, a 1st and another piece or 2 but it certainly won’t be Nemec.

Won't be Nemec. Won't be Holtz.
But if we are going to talk so much as about Holtz...am surprised they aren't asking for Nemec more often.

And I agree on your trade range. Something like....

-- Mukhamadullin, Filmon, 1st, 3rd
-- Casey, Foote, 1st, 3rd
-- Bahl, Gritsyuk, 1st, 3rd

Lots of options. But agree, it won't be Nemec, Mercer, Hughes, or Holtz.

You’re lost if you think San Jose would accept any of those deals that’s less than Horvat.

Devils have tons of pieces they could move…

One of - Mukhamadullin, Casey, Gritsyuk, Zetterlund
One of - Foote, Filmon, Vilen, Bahl, Clarke
One of - Walsh, Thompson, Boqvist
One of - 2023 1st, 2024 1st
One of - 2024 3rd, 2024 2nd

…blows Horvat return to shreds.

And we have seen that Grier does want quantity. (Read his comments after trading #11 pick for three picks).

Swap Johnsson for Mukhamadullin or Foote, and Sharks accept.
