If Ottawa does this im changing my support to another team
I don't see them make a trade like that. Byfield/Stutzle and Raymond/Rossi/Holtz are way more valuable for the Sens than AL. You can get two really good offensive player or a hyped prospect (Laf) like Hughes who has a lot of pressure because of that hype, which results in a player who almost certainly will disappoint

Almost a playoff team your thoughts
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if both Raymond and Holtz are off the board when the Devils are up. Laf, Byfield and Stutzle likely as top 3. I can see Detroit going with Raymond since they lack righthanded forwards and they selected a lot of defensemen in the first rounds of recent drafts. And I think Ottawa will select either Rossi (if they get Stutzle at #3) or Holtz (if they get Byfield at #3 and Detroit picks Raymond)

Senators Thinking Ahead
The funny thing is: Ottawa doesn't really need Drysdale! They picked quite some defensemen in the early rounds of the past drafts. At RD, they have Brannstrom (#15, 2017 draft), Thomson (#19, 2019), Bernard-Docker (#26, 2018). They have Chabot and Tychonick (#48, 2018) on the left side. Ottawa lacks high-end offensive talent and should select forwards, at least with their first two picks.
I think Drysdale will fall all the way to Anaheim. Maybe Detroit takes him, but they have spent a lot of early draft picks on defensemen in recent years

What Is a 1st Overall Pick Worth
Doubt Ottawa would make that trade, but I don't understand why you'd be willing to make that trade from Leafs perspective. Tkachuk needs an extension after next season, while AL will have two more ELC years. Given the uncertainty of the caplimit for the next few years, that ELC contract is even more valuable

Tampa gives up way too much value in this trade. Sure, Eichel has to most value of all players, but Mittelstadt currently projects as a 3c at best, while Stamkos is a top line player, Cirelli a top 6 player and Sergachev is a top pairing/3rd defenseman

Hard to say. Probably Stamkos, but I'm quite sure Stamkos played more minutes per game than Matthews which helped his stats. Also, Matthews is the best even strength goalscorer since entering the league. So it's close IMO

IMO a bit of an overpayment but probably worth it considering a true #1 goalie is their biggest gap in the line-up

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>asauer1122</b></div><div>Youd rather have Hjalmarsson (Age: 33 Goals: 1 Assists: 14 +/- -2) rather than risto (Age: 25 Goals: 6 Assists: 27 +/- -2)???????
Not to mention I even combined Hjalmarssons goals and assists from the last two seasons (GP 109) while risto is only at 69 GP. If you ask actual players who play against risto, and not stat guys like you that sit in their basement all day looking at analytics, youd come to find out players hate playing against risto and love playing with him.</div></div>
Fun thing is; analytics are more objective than players who're on the ice with him. If you score a hattrick while your turnovers and bad defensive coverages are the reason of 4 goals against, people would still talk about the hattrick and how amazing you were while you had a negative impact on the result.
And yes, I'd rather have Hjalmarsson than Risto. Ristolainen has been below average defensively throughout his career and his offensive metrix are declining in both of the last two years and he'd even had a negative impact offensively on the team this year. I'm not saying Hjalmarsson is the better player overall, but he's really good defensively (despite last year, partially because of his injury). He's suited for a 3rd pairing rol nowadays with lots of minutes on the PK. He's experienced, could be a valuable mentor for Dahlin and Jokiharju and his contract expires after next season. With Hjalmarsson, Jokiharju can play 2nd pairing minutes as well

get ready to lambaste me Krueger is the problem
I think the problem is bigger than just the coach. They had a good start this season (9-2-2 in october) and it's not the first time Buffalo collapsed after a good start. They were 20-9-5 in last year and finished with a 33-39-10 record. I don't watch a lot of Buffalo games so sure, Krueger could be a part of the problem. But Buffalo has quite some problems; they lack offense (they're a bottom team in scoring for years), defense isn't spectacular (even though Dahlin and Jokiharju is a good core for the future) and they lack a true #1 goalie. Last year Hutton was pretty good for most of the season, this year Ullmark was. But both aren't consistently good.
However, after the collapse last year and ruining a good start this year, I'd also question the character/mentality of the players too. 20-9-5 to 33-39-10 last year is an insane collapse.

In fact, Risto was the worst defenseman last year if you look at the matrix. Negative impact both offensively and defensively. I rather have Hjalmarsson than Risto. But only because of his experience and because his contract expires next year. Both were statistically fringe 3rd pairing guys with big contracts

Arizona declines. They likely don't need a defenseman in return for Hjalmarsson, especially not a subpar defenseman like Ristolainen

Avs Improve Without Losing Top Picks or Prospects
Tampa declines. They also won't trade Cirelli if he'd sign that. With a term like that, Cirelli wants at least 2M more, which will make it hard to keep the team together after next year. Cirelli isn't really a need with the current centerdepth and a prospect like Newhook.

Eichel Hypothetical
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SalamiCheese</b></div><div>It makes no sense, team is ten years old without a playoff. We can no longer rebuild again.</div></div>
You'd think a team that's rebuilding for so long would at least have plenty of solid depth players coming from their system. But the Sabres lack a lot of depth. Most of their early draft picks are playing somewhere else and that O'Reilly trade was extremely bad for the Sabres. They lack depth offensively, Dahlin and Jokiharju are fine pieces defensively but they need at least another good defenseman. Risto and Montour both had a negative impact offensively and defensively. And Buffalo is also still without a true #1 goalie. What are they going to do? Overpay like 4 to 5 players on the UFA market? Their division is pretty good and Ottawa has already done a better job at rebuilding than Buffalo. Hate to say it, but it doesn't look good for them

Re-Signing Hall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>Hjalmarsson isn't their No.5. He simply played less minutes due to coming back from injury.
Also, don't underestimate the value of having Hjalmarsson mentor Soderstrom for a year. That could be important in helping Soderstrom settle.</div></div>
Nope, he played #5 minutes at even strength. His TOI/GP got a massive boost because he plays an average of nearly 3 minutes on the PK. And it's not only because of his injury, last season he was the #5 in even strength TOI/GP while playing in all games. And this season, Hjalmarsson was a burden on the team in both offensive and defensive perspective. OK, he was really good defensively last season so that drop-off is probably because of his injury. But at 33, would you gamble on Hjalmarsson getting somewhat back to his normal level? I mean, at his age, I doubt he'll get back to his level of 18/19 and he's not the only experienced defenseman on the Yotes roster.
Sure he won the SC and has some valuable experience but the Yotes are trying to make the playoffs and Hjalmarsson was already a burden offensively and if his defensive game doesn't improve massively compared to this year, he's no good on the ice which is still the most important. If you get a return like this for a rental, I'd take it

I'd say Arizona would love to make those deals, especially if it enables them to resign Hall. The return for Hjalmarsson looks fine considering he was their #5 defenseman. Couple of solid depth pieces while opening a spot for Soderstrom

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stanley_Cup_To_Manhattan</b></div><div>Goligoski is terrible defensively</div></div>
Well actually the possession matrix of Goligoski this season is way better than Hjalmarsson. Hjalmarsson had a negative impact both offensively and defensively, which is a reason why 4 other defensemen got more TOI/GP compared to him

Well, Jost probably won't be a center in the NHL, but he'll probably be a middle 6 winger. He's not a lock at the Avs line-up and is bouncing around the line-up. So his production definitely took a hit. He should be a 3rd line winger next year, with 2nd line potential in 1-2 years

Mittelstadt currently projects as a 3C at best. Certainly doesn't carry enough value to make a trade like that work.
