Dude, you don’t know how offer sheets works
I messed this one up since Pinto can’t be offer sheeted, but you always overpay the guy so the other team don’t match
Look at Kotkaniemi, one year 6.1M
That’s what it takes to get a player via offer sheet

Slafkovsky Barron RHP in the minors
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lafleur10</b></div><div>You have Armia on the lineup over both Slaf and RHP, that's just a baffling decision.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>danielcoe</b></div><div>truth is hoffman will get traded and armia has to win a job in camp else he goes to laval. And that is fair.. So if harvey or farrell outshine armia then he goes down... but hoffman produce at a 42 pt pace last year and at 50% retention someone will bite during camp or montreal will add a fourth rounder and then someone will bite. At 2.25 mil a 42 pt player is a bargain and the pick is just gravy... I can see him in chic or SJ or Ana or Ari.
Hoffman gone and armia in minors leaves room for Harvey and ylonen in the lineup the way it should be.</div></div>
You guys are way off lmfao
I hate Hoffman & Armia, but they are never healthy scratch
They don’t have a spot to earn, they have a spot to lose
But still, there’s no way they are buried in the AHL. I just can’t see it.
Hoffman half retained + us sending a 4th for future compensation …. That makes ZERO sense, you don’t retain half a contract and sending a pick to make a roster spot for someone. Those someone are waivers exempt, they can start in Laval & get recall when an injury occur. I don’t think this is going to be the line up for opening night, every year there is injuries during training camp + preseason games

I will answer you here instead of quoting everything
Koskinen : I like Kapanen floor, he could be the answer at 4C. But he is clearly not ahead of Beck in my book. I’m not sold on Mailloux at all, but neither on Barron. I just wish one of those two becomes a top 4 dman. Reinbachcer-Mailloux/Barron-Mailloux/Barron. I watched the game ‘au camp de perfectionnement’, Luke Tuch stands out physically, but he has ZERO vision. He is a North-South power forward, like Josh Anderson. But he got 4th line potential, which I didn’t see before. Who stands out were : Lane Hutson, Adam Engstrom & William Trudeau. Jayden Struble & Luke Tuch were solid. People say the Hutson-Reinbacher pairing looked good, but that’s bull****. It could have been Hutson & me and people would have said the same. Armia just said he doesn’t like MTL media, not a big deal. I agree, MTL need a top 3 pick, but I don’t think we will get it.
Blazingbat : I agree with pretty much everything you said

Montreal Canadiens in 2025-2026
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jpsnow13</b></div><div>General thoughts:
In 3 seasons, Gally will be 34 and done. Placing him on LTIR opens a spot for <strong>Roy</strong>/Mesar/Rohrer
Evans and Kovacevic will be replaced by guys on ELCs for sure. That makes place for <strong>Kapanen</strong>/Davidson/Kidney and <strong>Mailloux</strong>/Hutson/Engstrom
Matheson and/or Harris will be gone IMO. Prime trading assets.
This team needs a big left handed C/LW (if you switch Caufield and Slaf). I'm not sold on Heineman yet.
Montembault will be worth +$5M as a hometown UFA. See Ullmark, Husso, Merzlikins... If I'm KH, I give it to him as the free agent market will be poop. Still need a back up though...
Finally, is Dach 1C in 3 years? He might be...</div></div>
I also think Gallagher will be LTIRed in 2025-2026.
I like Kapanen a lot, but I think it’s too earlier for him
Kidney … maybe he’ll be in Laval top 6 in two years
Rohrer will be in his first or second season with Laval, not expecting him any time soon to fight for a roster spot
Mesar needs time, but he has talent. Still too early for him IMO
I don’t think Davidson signs an ELC after this year. It will depend how it goes in the AHL
Roy on the other hand could be ready, replacing Gallagher
I expect Montembeault to sign a two years deal after this season around 3M, to know what we have in him. I think he is dog****, but he played decent halfway through the season

Maybe Durzi, but he ain't a top pairing dman
Moser and Valimaki are decent, maybe one could turn into a solid top 4 dman
Soderstrom as a lot to prove
Lamoureux have 3rd pairing ceiling
Duda is a good prospect but not really good

I believe the Samsonov contract was waited for so they knew just what to do.
So If the leafs paid the piper and traded Murray... add Robertson or whatever sweetener is needed.
Then Moved Timmins , and send Holmberg down. That puts them in the green by 627k. are they going to want to run on 20 players ... no. so youre right theres going to have to be a move unless someone is injured we dont know about yet. But all that would take is Toronto moving on from Jarnkrok and giving a guy like Steeves or Holmberg a shot.</div></div>
Moving Jarnkrok would hurt their secondary scoring tho

Buyout
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>No need to buyout Brodie...</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DJP1117</b></div><div>Why are so many Leaf fans trying to make this team so much worse at Defence... Brodie is 100x better then Dumba at defense. Theres a reason Dumba was never traded and basically let walk. No team valued him as much as the hype train of his name valued him.
Dumba needs to be heavily insulated I would never play Dumba on a top pairing against teams best players. thats asking for another first round exit. We already signed a defensive liability in Klingberg. having a second one on the right side is suicide for this team. They need a big strong Stay at home defenseman who can block shots , play PK and play amazing defence. That is NOT dumba. He puts up a couple points and throws a hit here and there taking himself out of the play more often then not. Theres also a reason hes not signed already ....Every team knows it. Theres a reason hes going to have to take a 1 year deal in a place like Arizona.
But i understand.. A fan who may not follow the NHL as closesly as others sees the name Dumba and says OMG its dumba lets sign him. its because his name carrys some weight in fans minds. Hes not very good. for him to succeed he would have to play on the second pairing. but the leafs need a top pair D to play wih Morgan Reilly, and Reilly Dumba would be disasterous as a pairing.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GreatWhiteNorth</b></div><div>Can confirm:
Brodie will NOT be bought out. There’s been no talk about the idea within the organization.
You’ve just created $4.5M of dead cap space for next season when Matthews and Nylander’s extensions kick in. That’s a fast way to get fired.</div></div>
They gotta trade someone

TDL Blockbuster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>I mean, peak Bob was worth two Vezina’s; but, the point isn’t whether Helleybuck is better than Bob *right now*, because he is, even if Bob had a nice run in the playoffs (there is a reason why “goalie” has become a verb). The point is whether Helleybuck is going to be worth the $8M-$9M someone is going to pay him until he’s in his late thirties.
Goalies in the NHL are the new RB’s in the NFL. There are going to be a few diamonds, sure, but you’re better off building around a 1a/1b on mid-level contracts than you are investing big money into one guy to carry your team for 65+ games.
Even then, goalies are voodoo. <a href="https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/1785263" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Absolute nobodies </a>show up and tear the league apart, then <a href="https://bleedinblue.com/2022/09/17/st-louis-blues-jordan-binnington-will-see-season/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">turn to pumpkins.</a> <a href="https://www.nhl.com/news/sergei-bobrovsky-wins-vezina-trophy/c-290050070" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Proven stars</a> go from savior to <a href="https://thehockeywriters.com/every-nhl-teams-worst-contract/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">buy-out speculation.</a> Goalie just isn’t a position I’d want to invest high-end money into; I.e. the money Helleybuck is going to demand, and that someone is likely going to pay him.</div></div>
Let’s say he signs 6X9M
You were already paying Elvis 5.4M
So for 3.6M, you get an Elite goaltender
Hellebuyck is still in his good years, Gaudreau & Hellebuyck both wants a cup. I don’t think it would be a bad move, IMO
It puts them into contender
