<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>A player's draft position seven years ago has absolutely no relevance to his value today, especially when that's the <strong>only</strong> positive thing that you can say about him. By your logic, Lias Andersson, who was drafted seventh overall and was thereafter traded for a second-round draft pick, should be worth more than a fourth -- but he's not. Two different teams have given up on Timmins. Just look at a few of the defensemen taken behind Timmins in the same draft: Dylan Samberg was selected at #43, and has played 156 NHL games and is expected to be a full-time roster player next season. Gus Lindstrom, taken 38th, has played 174 NHL games and will play more games next season than Timmins. Nicolas Hague, chosen 34th, has played 296 NHL games and is obviously a top-4 defender on most teams. Timmins has played all of 91 games and if you use the injury excuse to explain why he's been held back, then that's exactly why Timmins isn't worth a fourth.</div></div>

That’s exactly why he’s getting held back, injures. It’s not an excuse it’s facts. A fourth or sixth round draft pick will never play in the nhl chances are. If they do they won’t be impact players. Timmins is a full time player on about 1/3 of the NHL teams. 3rd pairing for sure but he’s a full time player. Where he got drafted ABSOLUTELY matters! It means that he showed the potential to be a solid defencemen in the NHL. Only reason he hasn’t been able to show that is his injuries. Stop yapping about a draft pick that will never turn into an nhl player. You’re losing Roy and doughty doesn’t have much left in the tank at all. You need to younger d men that can play.
