Perunovich is a lefty but played his entire college career on the right side. It’s his natural position.
Hofer isn’t a throw in. He would fight Ukko for the starting job.

Wow you guys need trophies with Homer awards.
Perunovich has 2 assists in 11 games. He’s completely sheltered with the minutes he does play.
Comparing him to Johnny Hockey is absurd but not surprising lol

Thomas looks like he is back to being a top-15 C, Kyrou has awesome underlying numbers (he won’t shoot 5% forever,) Buchnevich is still Buchnevich, Neighbours is starting to breakout, Perunovich has looked like a stud. Everyone who you would want to play well is playing well. Sure the team is deeply flawed, but they’re interesting enough to make me excited for every time they take the ice.</div></div>
You can never again claim any objectivity in your opinions 🤣
Perunovich has looked like a stud?? How? He has some hockey IQ but he’s 3 feet tall. He will be lucky to have a career as a #5 or #6 D.

I have read the articles from the athletic when they were written. They are sports “writers “.
Surely you don’t want me to give you all the links of the same “writers” where their opinions were completely wrong do you?
But hey, why would you want to watch a hockey player and draw your own conclusions when you can just read articles??

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dekes</b></div><div>Not really lopsided Edmonton gets much much much better defensively, yes you lose Bouchard PP and offensive production but you also get a goalie who has a much higher potential than anything currently in Edmonton in Hofer.
Ceci is a cap dump that 2nd basically covers him Holloway hasn’t done anything yet probably worth a 3rd at most rn.
So it’s essentially Bouchard+ 2 1sts for parayko and hofer.
I’d say if you turned one of those 1sts to a 2nd it’s even</div></div>
Agreed but with Edmonton in full panic mode and also in a must win now state as a franchise I would try to squeeze them

Yzerman & Army have quite a close trading track record. Wallinder is a first round pick, and a LHD which fills a massive need for the Blues. I’m not sure Buch will return more than the equivalent of two 1sts.

That’s one way to look at his stats.
If you look at his numbers it’s a lot better than how you are framing it.
He’s scored 35 points in 56 games, including 24 goals.
He also had 14 points in 20 games with the Blues, including 10 goals.
If he plays everyday, and puts up similar numbers, and the Blues are sellers, a 2nd would be the floor of a return.
His current cap hit is $2,625,000. I’m not sure where you came up with 5 million. If the Blues eat 50% in a trade that makes him even more valuable.

Actually there’s only a few teams with more success over the last decade plus than the Blues organization. They aren’t looking at a complete tear down and rebuild like Pittsburgh faces for example

If the blues are real bad and try to blow it up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Drshnuckels91</b></div><div>Going about this I wanted to structure it similarly to the blackhawks rebuild when they moved on from a young piece like Debrincat who everyone thought would be a cornerstone of the rebuild. Thomas (or Kyrou) will bring by far the most value to the Blues. Thomas might not be too enthusiastic to spend his prime years in a rebuild, I mean lets say the average rebuild takes anywhere from 4-8 years depending on a teams lottery luck (A team like the Devils vs the Sabers). So lets say 6 years, by the time the rebuild is over he will be 30 with one year left on his deal. Most of his prime will be behind him spent on a team that was bottom 8 every year. If he was 20-22 the Blues could get away with it but he's 24. Not super appealing to a player about to enter their most competitive years.</div></div>
I understand your thought process but the comparisons between Chicago and the Blues are not equal.
Let’s pretend the Blues tank next season. They would have Buchnevich, Vrana, Kapanen, Faulk, and Parayko as possible trade pieces.
Buchnevich has another year left on his contract and would return a first round pick plus a really good prospect (most likely)
By tanking let’s also pretend they wind up with a top 5 pick. They would have a top 5 pick, plus the prospect and another first round pick from the Buchnevich trade, Dvorsky, Snuggerud, Dean, Bolduc, Neighbors, Stenberg, Lindstein, Alexandrov, Buchinger, Tucker, Loof, Hofer, and Zherenko.
Chicago had nowhere near this amount of prospects when they decided to trade DeBrincat.
Anyone, including Army, would add Thomas and Kyrou to their group of players, not trade them away.

Nik is a fantastic prospect. If the Blues tank next year blowing it up will not include trading Thomas. He’s simply too important for the future of the team. Honestly, he is probably the least likely player in the franchise to be traded

If Pietrangelo would have signed with the Blues I don’t think a lot would have changed. The core players still age and it’s unlikely they have a magic Cup run.
The fact his hang up was the NMC is laughable because he will not complete 4 more years in Vegas.

Embrace the rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>I used every fallacy? Wow, that's amazing that I fit so many into such little text.
Let's be clear, your question was simple but not polite. It's intent was to say how great he looks on the ice and that those "silly" advanced stats mean nothing. Let's also be clear that instead of countering my stats you instead decided to dodge that argument for another with little to no merit, "the eye test".
Now you've decided to become even more hostile. Extending words and bringing in obsurd notions of drug use.
So the stats aren't objective? So there isn't a calculation that can be done by outside parties to come to the same number and conclusion? You know, like all objective facts. Just because you don't like something, doesn't make it subjective.
How am I going to judge stats if I never watched a player? The same way I can speak to my local community about helping the homeless situation without ever having been homeless. Because I have the right to look at facts and think for myself.
But you don't want to talk about that, do you slick? You want to tell me how great a guy looks on the ice and how he is worth 15 1st round picks. That's great! Your opinion is certainly allowed and encouraged on a forum such as this. But your opinion is not represented by facts. Don't pretend that it is.
As for the only actual facts your brought to the table, Bush has more points per 60 than Guentzel. Let's look at 5v5 numbers.
Bush this year: 2.51
Bush last year; 2.46
Guentzel this year: 1.86
Guentzel last year: 2.48
So he had more points per 60 this year but not last year. I wonder why... oh yeah I know, he shot 20%. If you put him back into his normal shooting percentage than those points per 60 becomes 1.97
Hmm. So he has similar scoring numbers to Guentzel, similar defensive numbers to Guentzel. But he doesn't draw penalties, hit people, take the puck away, or play 75+ games per season. Sounds like Guentzel is better to me.
But, again, you don't want to talk about numbers or facts. You want to be right. Well be a King in your own head and leave me alone unless you have data.</div></div>
Stats are certainly useful but they have to be viewed with context also.
Plenty of Vegas fans are convinced Barbashev was somehow held back in St. Louis because of his production with Vegas, specifically in the playoffs.
Barby benefited from playing with Eichel. The truth is Barby is a nice complimentary player but he would never be the primary driver of the type of points he produced in the playoffs.
Buchnevich finished last year with a 1.08 ppg production. That’s good for 25th in the league. There’s 32 teams in the league. If you only want to look at stats the case could easily be made that Buch is a 1st line player.
The terms top line, top 6, middle 6, etc.. are certainly subjective. I wouldn’t have an issue with someone saying Buch is a top 6 player. He certainly would fill a need with Pittsburgh.
Anyway we slice it there’s no trade happening in real life. Unfortunately the Blues are not embracing a rebuild, at least for now. It’s still fun to come up with hypotheticals.

Vrana will definitely be a 30+ goal scorer and his cap would be 1.3 million. No team gets that at the TDL any year. Kap actually played well last year for the Blues. I would actually like both players on the roster under different circumstances.
Carolina was desperate for goals in the playoffs. A late first and a late 2nd for the combined production vs hardly any cap is pretty fair.
