Blues fans thoughts on the season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>STLBlues17</b></div><div>I’m kind of enjoying this season haha. Thomas looks like he is back to being a top-15 C, Kyrou has awesome underlying numbers (he won’t shoot 5% forever,) Buchnevich is still Buchnevich, Neighbours is starting to breakout, Perunovich has looked like a stud. Everyone who you would want to play well is playing well. Sure the team is deeply flawed, but they’re interesting enough to make me excited for every time they take the ice.</div></div>
I’ve been trying to find this optimism but man they are so hard to watch most nights and you just know they’re gonna finish like 1 pt out of the playoffs and draft someone “safe” 16th overall and do it all over again. Thomas has been getting better and better as the season is going so that’s nice. And I do think kyrou will pick it up. But this should be the rock bottom season imo. Trade the UFAs, trade buch a la matt duchene in Colorado. Bottom out and get a top5 pick, free up some money in the off-season, clean up the defense.

You'd better be giving up assets to get out of that deal. Not receiving a haul better than Jack freaking eichel

Parayko had one bad year while obviously playing through an injury. This year, now that he’s healthy, he’s been playing some of the best hockey of his career. He’d be the best defenseman on the Oilers by a mile. If you want to talk about contracts that are actually bad, you might want to look at your buddy Nurse

Who knows
Maybe you get that return at the TDL but he hasn't played more than 50 games in three seasons and has had shoulder surgery and he spent most of last season in the players assistance program. He only performed like that in small spurts.
Detroit won't be buying at the TDL and if they trade Boston 2024 1st that means Ottawa gets Detroit's 2024 1st round pick. Plus Detroit is very high on Wallinder I doubt they trade him.

Meh, price Buchnevich I still think it's a little, but I'm a Red Wings fan saying that Buchelnevich isn't the right guy.
UFA in 2 years. Locks us into having no 1st pick in 2024. We lose Wallinder. Just not worth it IMO.

Tkachuk is coming to St Louis
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sicarius</b></div><div>I’m not sure if the cap works</div></div>
Yeah it does. You sign Tkachuk to 8 years at $9.25M AAV. Bring up Neighbours. While Torp is out, play Walker at the 3RW spot. Projected lineup is below, with $676,667 in cap space.
Tkachuk - Thomas - Kyrou
Saad - ROR - Buchnevich
Neighbours - Schenn - Walker/Torp
Brown - Acciari - Leivo
Krug - Faulk
Leddy - Parayko
Perunovich - Scandella
Binnington - Greiss
Scr. Bortuzzo, Rosen
For resigning Kyrou, you either let ROR walk OR trade Saad and Scandella

Absolutely not. This sort of thing is no longer allowed by the CBA.
This is no longer allowed by the CBA, and Army isn't doing that anyway.
Now it's two 2nds??? Do you not understand how negotiating works? The idea is to try and do better for your side, not to generously throw in assets that weren't asked for. And again, Army is not doing that crap.
You want a 1st, a 2nd and Neighbours now? :| Do bear in mind that xercuses is not actually in charge of negotiating for the Blues. Exactly none of what he's offering is realistic. But yes, Neighbours is a no-go here. Obviously. And Kostin is a roster player, so he's almost certainly out of the question, as well. Reel it in, my friend.</div></div>
so wouldnt give up a first, 2 seconds or a second and kostin, scandella, for lindholm 50% now and a reasonable extension in place
wow thats just wow Thats very fair imo yes kostin is a roster player and a damn good one but not a guy that will really get into the top 9 here espesially with neighbours on his way in a year or 2 so id be willing to give him up and roll brown or joshua in his spot

Blues can pay it and Thomas is a center so he holds a lot of value there while we don’t need another winger

It’s like you are giving a top line forward prospect and a top Dman prospect. Neighbours have top 6 potentiel and Perunovich top 4 potential but you are getting a #1 dman

We definitely can't. Unless we deal Kreider or Trouba. Trading Trouba while he's playing this good and adding Tarasenko with Schneider coming up would be perfect.

where StLouis would be if they managed their assets properly
I've disagreed with pretty much every decision the Blues have made since winning the cup. I disagreed with the Faulk extension, I disagreed with letting Pietrangelo walk, I disagreed with trading Allen and I disagree now with the Binnington extension.
However, I don't know how much better this team is with all of those decisions reversed than it is right now. Pietrangelo has been horrible in Vegas and Faulk has been elite this year in St. Louis. I don't expect that to continue but having Pietrangelo being bad for one of his last prime years is not ideal. Binnington hasn't been great, but Allen also had that opportunity with the Blues a million times as well and he never ran with it. I think Allen's a great goalie and I'm not surprised it's working somewhere else, but it was never going to work here.
And saying the Blues should have kept Allen would have meant trading Binnington last offseason instead, because "managing our money properly" would mean knowing we didn't have the cap space to have both on the roster this year at nearly 10 million and make all these other moves you want to make (like keeping Pietrangelo and still signing Krug), and if you're saying we should have traded Binnington last offseason that's just ridiculous hindsight-ing, and his value would have been insanely low then anyway after the bubble. In actuality the Blues should have probably not extended either of them.
That said, Scandella >>> Edmundson, and I don't think Scandella is anything special, but Eddy is just sidecar-ing to Petry's Norris-worthy campaign right now. Scandella's contract is too long but so would Edmundson's have been.
