You want a 1st and 2nd for a cap dump and a waiver claim... yeah, I can tell you the Canes aren't in the business of helping the incompetence of other teams. Vrana may bounce back this year, but that uncertainty is just WAY too bad to bank on. Kapanen is at best maybe worth a 3rd with the retention

Vrana will definitely be a 30+ goal scorer and his cap would be 1.3 million. No team gets that at the TDL any year. Kap actually played well last year for the Blues. I would actually like both players on the roster under different circumstances.

Carolina was desperate for goals in the playoffs. A late first and a late 2nd for the combined production vs hardly any cap is pretty fair.

So, you're just going to ignore the fact that Svechnikov was out in the postseason with an ACL, a once in a career injury for most players? Stop it. Kapanen had 36 points last year. Vrana barely played. You think that gets a 1st and 2nd is PURE delusion. Carolina don't particularly need any retention anyway. No current LTIR cases, 30 million in cap space, and enough room to go down other roads for MUCH better players. This is a really awful idea for the Canes

I think his point was Kap had 14 points in roughly 25 games for the Blues. Essentially double his pace with PIT. And Vrana played 20 games scoring 10 goals. Both players played much better after coming over.

While I disagree with most of the trades, it won’t shock me if they get a first for Vrana at the deadline. He’s gonna fit any cap situation and bring goal scoring. Lastly, Svech could be out for significant chunk of next year (maybe not until the playoffs) you’re gonna need some goal scoring next year.

So the Canes are giving up a 1st and 2nd rounders for a bottom six speed skater in Kapanen, whose offense won’t be sustainable if he were to be moved to the Canes system, and Vrana, who is incapable of staying on the active roster, who might be a 30 goal scorer if he stays healthy, which is highly unlikely. Way too much risk associated with that price, there just isn’t enough reward. I mean, there is a reason why the Blues were able to get him for a whatever prospect and a 7th. The delusion of being able to turn that into a first and a 2nd is about as bad, not as bad though, as the delusion of Habs fans thinking they could flip Monahan for a 1st after getting him dumped for a first.

I mean, using the logic for that trade, would St. Louis be comfortable moving a 1st and 2nd for Teravainen and Fast/Martinook? Teravainen could be a 30 goal scorer if he could stay healthy more consistently and if he shot the puck more, and Fast/Martinook both had good offensive seasons. What I’m proposing in this hypothetical scenario is also risky, and the Nlues likely wouldn’t be willing to consider that.

What? Stop, Svechnikov is going to be healthy for camp. He's already lost the boot, is back in the gym, and the plan is for him to be back on the ice before the end of this month... if you're clueless, that's okay. It's hard to keep up with all the injuries on 32 teams, but don't make stuff up bud.

Vrana has barely played. Kapanen had 36 points. Neither one of them is worth the 1st.

Canes aren’t touching that. 1 we don’t make big rental trades. 2. These aren’t the types of players you pay big for

MD told him 6-9 months it’s 7 to the opening night. My point is if hes back in 9 months very reasonable that’s late December. If he has any set back in the ramp up phase like several players have they’ll push him back a month at a time. That gets you to midseason and with his talent and entire career ahead of him the Canes aren’t going to push him back into the lineup early. They have no reason to. At some point you then have to wonder if they do the old Vegas/TB trick and let him come back for the playoffs off the cap and fully healthy.

Secondly, you keep saying Vrana didn’t play much last year but as they stated in the post it’s at the TDL next year. He’ll have played the entire season on the first or second line and if he’s anything close to what he finished the year as he will fetch a first.

Interesting, you're getting the Achillies and the ACL mixed up. The Canes' press release said 4-6 months in the Canes, making it clear he'd be ready for the start of the new season. Max's Achillies was 6-8 months. That#s actually a very simple mistake for someone who doesn't follow the team. But Svech is going to be on the ice basically before free agency.

Vrana will have the entire 1st half of next year. If he's anything like the player we've seen with that injury history, I highly doubt it. Let's ignore his off-ice history for a second, he's not played more than 50 games in a season since 2019-20. There's no certainty he plays enough to even demand a 2nd.

Look at his end of season press conference. He says 6 months max. It doesn't matter because he's going to be back on the ice in like 2 weeks anyway
