Wild Bill strikes early again
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>Every Wild offer I see for Eichel is amongst the worst this site has to offer. This isnt in the ballpark, let alone the city that the ballpark is in</div></div>
I get the frustration of losing a franchise player (we lost Gaborik... our only franchise player to date)... but what offer are you expecting as a Buffalo fan? 2 lottery picks, a young 30 goal scorer, a starting goalie which even you have to admit hasn't existed in Buffalo since Hasek and a the Wild's 4th best prospect (a Center). You won't get top dollar as your star wants out.... that puts you at a disadvantage. So what does your offer need to look like as I think that is as competitive with any you'll see.....

2021 Wild Mid-Season Remake
The reason for the Bennett trade is to try and get younger and hope a change of scenery helps. Plus he is a Center and Hits as much as Foligno which we'll need once we start playing teams like the Blues. Bjugstad has provided zero value, isn't a center and sadly is to slow to play on a line with 22 or 97.
The reason for the Dumba trade is because at this point I don't want to lose him for nothing in the expansion draft. If you'll notice (and look at most teams doing the 7-3-1) there are only about 5 teams that have the protection space & cap space to even trade for Dumba. And if BG get's anything less than a 1st rounder for a Right Shot Dman, then he has wasted an asset. So we need to trade him now before other teams that become sellers start offering up their Dman (like Nashville in recent rumor mills). So if we are going to get at least close to "fair value", we need to move him now. And we aren't getting a good #1/@2 Center for Dumba Wabit.. sorry, that ship has sailed.
The Gustafsson trade is because the Canucks need D help and the Wild don't. Maybe the Wild have to retain some D there, but it adds to the comp we are hoping to get back for Dumba that doesn't need to be protected.
On the MarJo trade, Boston would pay that to put them over the edge and have bottom 6 depth. He did really well for them a few years ago and so my thoughts were a contender would pay a little more. Your 5th rounder suggestion is WAY low... 4th minimum but as I said I think Boston being a contender will over pay to try and win it now.
The Henrique was a late add based on the news today. The reason the Wild would do it is so K97's rookie year isn't wasted with random knuckleheads "trying" to play center and Fiala has someone to help get him the puck too. Henrique is more expensive, and add's 2 years but he is also nearly 10% higher in the dot than most of our so called centers. Anaheim wants him gone to clear the cap space. They will retain the difference and then buy out Rask next year if he doesn't pan out... in the end saving Anaheim money in the long run. For the Wild, it's not like Rossi or Boldy will be the #1 or #2 next year... and so that means we need to have something in the short term and he seems feasible at 4m a year... at least better than Rask.
And lastly the Staylock trade. He's worth way more than a 5th, especially in a year like this where having a good 2nd or 3rd goalie is important. Edmonton has 2 problems... they HAVE to make the playoffs this year and their Goal Tending tandem sucks. Alex might literally step in and be the starter there... that's how bad it is, and I have watched enough EDM games to see how bad their goalies are playing. So I think a 3rd rounder is reasonable again for a team that thinks they are a contender.
Historically contenders pay 1st and 2nd rounders for those depth guys to make a run for the cup... I felt I was being conservative and not a homer by doing 3rd's.
Regardless, something needs to change. We need to get fair value for Dumba. We need to get Center's in here because I am tired of watching 20+ years without a real one. And with the upcoming draft being Dman heavy, it's unlikely we'll be able to pluck another Rossi out of the 2021 draft.

More Wild Bill moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div>That is debatable. I think a 1-for-1 deal isn't far off for value.
MN says no to the trade. Bjugstad isn't anything special, but he in a MN boy. Being from MN matters way too much to the Wild fans and owner. A trade around MarJo could be worked out.
Stalock needs to get off of IR before he'll have any trade value.</div></div>
Minnesota fans don't care about where they are from, they want to win.... period. I'd move Bjugstad in a heartbeat and the only reason he is here is because Bill knows him from PItt's days, not because he was from MN. I get the nay-sayers around Bennett but if you watched him at all during the playoffs last year he was a beast. AND he was a beast in his previous playoff series so he brings it when it matters, but he needs to bring it all the time.
The reason for this trade is that we hear Mr. Russo state that young centers don't become available so the road is long. This franchise has historically had zero center's down the middle spare Mikko who was a 3C being played at a 1 or 2 and an aging Staal. So for cheap, you take a chance on Bennett who has been stuck on the 4th line behind a lot of depth in Cgy. He is younger, faster and hits more than Bjugstad. Give him top 6 minutes, let him win faceoffs and make space for K97, Parise and Fiala. Have him go to the net or scrap with the other team. In the end, he may become the 4th overall pick he was with a change of scenery or at worst it doesn't pan out and he become another Ryan Hartmann which is still valuable.
Is the 3rd too high? That's a fair argument … make it a 4th or a 5th, whatever it takes to get the deal done with CGY as they aren't going to just give him away. But the fact is, Bjugstad/MarJo/Bonino were brought in to be here this year and then traded for assets that the TDL. So they are expendable.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Dumba isn't worth moving Laine for. The Jets may have an interest in Dumba, but not for one of the top 5.</div></div>
Laine will 10% be traded before the end of next season, possibly sooner. He wants to play on the first line and for whatever reason PM won't put him there. In addition, they are afraid they won't be able to afford him on his next contract so they are looking to move him. They are fools to move him, but they will, and I want the Wild to jump on that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>Yeah if you can do Dumba retained and Greenway for Cirelli and Killorn/Johnson, thats something they should pursue</div></div>
There is no certainty Cirelli is more than a 3C. Look at the lineup he's been a part of. And I want no part of Killorn(LW) or Johnson (sliding down the center charts with long term). The reason I am pushing Laine is because is a 30-50 goal scorer and last year became a more complete player. From a cap perspective we can handle it easily (we have 32m in cap space) even if you give 6-7m each to Fiala and SpecialK. We could give Laine 8m a year and still be fine. But the point is, we could have FOUR 20-30+ goal scores with Fiala, Parise, Laine and hopefully SpecialK. And that isn't even counting Rossi. I just think when you can land a 22 yr old who can score 30-50 goals a year you run after him.

The Wild won't trade for Murray because it doesn't help us to help Pitt. We have your first next year, we want Pitt to do badly so that pick improves. BG's done trading with his former team the rest of this year.

#3 - We can easily protect 8 skaters - 1 goalie and keep all four of our guys. Given the lack of talent with our forwards, that's an easy path forward because we won't be exposing much.

Dumba > Domi... Domi was traded for Galchenyuk who is almost out of the league, and Domi found his way down to the 3rd line/4th line center. He has potential, but those two aren't equal. Dumba has way more value as a Top 2 Right Shot RD.

The Wild don't want Kerfoot... he's an expensive #3C. We have Eek for half the price.... Nylander is the only guy we are interested in and even that is iffy because it would take Dumba and BG seems set on only trading him for a #1/#2 Center.

The Wild wouldn't take that deal. They are free of Pateryn after this year... and BG has been cutting future cap, adding Johnson's dead weight for a few more years is the opposite of what he has been doing. Until we move a goalie out, we aren't trading for another one.
