Revisiting Athanasiou Move

Description
Looking like EDM will not be giving Athanasiou a QO, making him a free agent. He isn't the best defensively, but I think he would be a solid middle 6 forward for the Pens. He has a lot of speed and skill.

Just for fun, imagine a Tanev Athanasiou Kapanen line lol.

I think you're confusing RFA and UFA rights. Edmunsson from Carolina to Montreal for a 5th makes sense because he's a lot more valuable than that but he's about to go to free agency where they'd loose him for nothing. Athanasiou is not the same, Edmonton get's to retain him or have another team offer sheet so even though he doesn't have a contract, his rights are worth his full value.

Why does this same Pittsburgh trade keep popping up over and over again? The Wild don't even consider making that move.
