Every fan on this site - including you (and me) - inflates the value of its favorite team's players. Fans overvalue their favorite team's prospects even more so. From an outsider's perspective, the Sabres are in a really interesting place this offseason. They've been building for over a decade and they have a good young roster and a strong prospect pipeline, but they have nothing to show for any of it yet. They won't have room on the roster for all of their prospects and short term future picks. This feels like an inflection point for the organization to get aggressive and cash in some chips to achieve some actual on-ice results this season. The Flyers just make a lot of sense as a trade partner.

Interesting. My initial reaction was I would probably ultimately accept if I'm the Flyers, but would feel better if I could extract additional draft capital (e.g., a 3rd round pick) in 2025 or 2026. As a thought exercise, if you start from the assumption that Farabee would be a good addition for the Sabres, what do you think is fair value? I don't think Ostlund plus a first round pick swap is crazy.

If Danny gets TK for that price I can live with it but I am on the side of trading him. That 1 less year and under 9mil makes it a little more palatable though. I think these negotiations will really show how good of GM Danny is. We can’t handle any more albatross contracts.

Yeah Christ I did not realize how badly Laughton and Couturier fell off this year until after looking at your comment. But as I said, the Flames could target basically any young center on the market if they feel the fit is right, just though Frost could be an interesting fit.

Very very confident that if Torts never benched him for that 8-game stretch this year, he would already have hit 60. All he needs to do is put it together for a full year and he'll get there with no problem.
And with those linemates?? If not I need him in Kunlun ASAP

TBL offszn trading Cirelli
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Paulacacac</b></div><div>Hes not a bum. Take out Jeannot and Laughton and we’d do it straight up</div></div>
You said "Frost for two bums and a cap nightmare", so I took that to mean you thought Cirelli was one. Frost as the main piece is the idea, but I think Tampa would be interested in Laughton perhaps. What else does Tampa need to add to Cirelli to get both?

Cost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>cooliny</b></div><div>Frost probably costs a 2nd.</div></div>
2nd shouldn't be even close. According to Dom Luszczyszyn model, he's on par with Casey Mittelstadt as a player. Mittelstadt is somewhat better offensively, Frost is superior defensively, both have the same market value, Frost is a year younger and Frost still has 1yr left on his deal, and will be RFA after that.
Not saying he's gonna get similar return as CM, but i'm also quite sure they ain't trading him unless it's in a package where they get straight upgrade or younger guy who has the potential to be better. C is already Flyers' position of weakness, so they are not trading him for spare parts.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>Putting aside the obvious that they aren't going to move him, and if they were it certainly wouldn't be to their most hated rival, if Ottawa's making a deal with MTL, it's a given that they're getting that 5th overall pick as part of the deal. It's about what else they give on top of that, and the price to send their captain, who is a complete unicorn in today's NHL, to their most hated rival would be astronomical.
Ottawa puts Brady on the market this summer, that immediately becomes the top priority for like 90% of the league imo. There simply isn't a player in the League who plays the style of game he does, at the elite level he does. He's in his prime, on a good contract with term, and he has no trade protection until next summer. They could move him anywhere they want.</div></div>
if the 5OA is made available, it would be the highest pick ottawa is offered. I'm not saying they take this trade but its certainly worthy of consideration.

Why would a rebuilding team trade one of their top prospects to another rebuilding team for worse prospects? The only reason the flyers would trade Bonk is if they think they have a top-six center prospect coming back, and even then it’s pretty unlikely.

I like Konecny. I like Konecny a lot. He isn't even close to being worth a 1st Round Pick, the AHL MVP (Bourque), the Stars best defensive prospect (Bichsel), and a recent 2nd Round Pick (Bertucci)

An actual plausible off season
I disagree with you that Jarnkrok's value is FC. I'm convinced that someone will give you a fifth for him if he's made available, and it wouldn't surprise me that you get a fourth, as my friend <a href="/users/GiggyWithGibby" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@GiggyWithGibby</a> implies.
I think that the Philly - Toronto exchange is an excellent idea. There will <strong>have</strong> to be someone on Briere's draft board that he didn't expect to drop to #30 who will be sitting there at #23, and the Maple Leafs need all the selections that they can get.

Ristolainen is a 5 million dollar bottom pairing defender with term, and not even a very good one. He is a negative asset and no team should trade for him unless it's a bottom feeder getting a boatload of assets

Gotta agree with Renegade. Anaheim needs impact pieces. We can get one with 3OA, we probably can't with the picks offered, so we'd need a known solid piece the other way to even begin considering.
