its a top five pick? close to it? i don't see how you can say that about an offer that has that kind of pick in it. they certainly pick up the phone.

Ottawa is in win mode. They need to start winning, not start the rebuild all over. If they trade Tkachuk it will be a hockey trade like the Mathew Tkachuk vs Huberdeau move. Ottawa doesn't need pick, no matter how high they are.

Putting aside the obvious that they aren't going to move him, and if they were it certainly wouldn't be to their most hated rival, if Ottawa's making a deal with MTL, it's a given that they're getting that 5th overall pick as part of the deal. It's about what else they give on top of that, and the price to send their captain, who is a complete unicorn in today's NHL, to their most hated rival would be astronomical.

Ottawa puts Brady on the market this summer, that immediately becomes the top priority for like 90% of the league imo. There simply isn't a player in the League who plays the style of game he does, at the elite level he does. He's in his prime, on a good contract with term, and he has no trade protection until next summer. They could move him anywhere they want.

if the 5OA is made available, it would be the highest pick ottawa is offered. I'm not saying they take this trade but its certainly worthy of consideration.

Not enough to dump Anderson, let alone also return 2 better players.
