I really don't see Detroit targeting a more expensive goalie, we likely just bide our time for Cossa.

That's basically what I have here. Aljo sub in for Petry to get reps. That quote was speaking more in the future hoping that Edvinsson can move up to top pair.

Holl is a buyout candidate. That much money for 30 games, he had to go, take the hit. Petry can stay as third pair. He might do well in that roll, he shouldn't be in the top 4 anymore.

Changes to that made again, might have to change the Stamkos signing.
Also made other changes to account for the Abdelkader buyout and changed the Stamkos contract to 3 years.

Oh that's wicked. I actually originally had Stamkos signed to a 3 year deal but couldn't keep that cause I needed the cap. I might be able to change that up again to be slightly more realistic. Not ideal for the team but the player want the term.

Adjusted Danielson, I'm unsure on Kasper so I left it.

You are right about Danielson, I missed that, easy enough to change. Gives a little extra cap relief to this team as well. Kasper I'm not sure about? Full year in the AHL this year, wouldn't that knock a year off? I don't really know how it all works. This team is based off of 2026/27 season. But Danielson for sure, I'll make the change.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoachCoach</b></div><div>Yeah this D slaps if the prospects develop properly lol
The only thing really missing (which you acknowledged is impossible to gaze out that far) is true top end fire power. Shouldn’t be an issue based on the fact wingers are the easiest position to find. I agree a KFC or surprising trade/FA would be nice once the core is filled out.</div></div>
I think Raymond will develop to be a 40 goal 80-90 point guy, that should help alot. We still have Debrincat who should still be a 40 goal guy. I think this team has a decently balanced attack but agreed could use more high end skill. Hard to do without winning the lottery. KFC would be a good option. Rantanen might be an option but I doubt he doesn't get extended. Have to get lucky like Tampa did in the later rounds I guess. The Kucherov and Point picks are what we need still. I'm thinking that's why Yzerman didn't mind trading down as often as he did, never know what you are going to get.

It may be a case where they're split up and then if there's a minute left up one with the goalie pulled, they're both on the ice.</div></div>
If we sign Roy, we would have that depth. Walman - Roy second pair, like I have in my second part of this, would be decent I think. Chiarot Petry wouldn't be the worst third pair out there with Aljo competing with Petry for a spot. Chiarot can play both sides.

He has been a really steady defender his entire career. He gets no credit cause he isn't flashy. People see the one or two bad plays and think he's trash.

Crazy idea to really upset CGY
I'm sure both Chicago and San Jose rather just make those picks. Alot of teams have guys like Harris and Barron, they aren't a hard to come by commodity. I'm not knocking them as I think they can both be players it's just they aren't hard to find. There are UFAs that yes will be more expensive but they are also better, if the team wants to compete now than that's probably the direction.
When talking about 20th overall, there may very well be some players rated top 15 fall to that pick. That's not as likely to happen at 27. So if they like a player at that spot, they take that player.
Similar with 14 overall. Alot of good players in the top 15 but someone who that team feels is top 10 might fall to them. Again they take that player.
Same same with The Seattle pick, top 5 could fall to 8.
The biggest flaw is the fact you have teams trading their picks before they even know who is available. So no chance that happens at all. The teams will have to know who's available at their pick before trading it and know that a player that value is likely going to be available at that later pick.

Edvinsson is still young, he needs a good partner. Chiarot was decent but he's not the best answer. We need someone to pair with Edvinsson and take pressure off of Seider. Top 4 RHD who is strong defensively would be ideal. Roy, Pesce and Tanev are ideal options. Barron is a project and right now we have a bunch of other young players going to be pushing the roster. I think it's better to try and insulate them.

Honestly I think Detroit just keeps Soderblom. If he can pull it together in his mid twenties we will be happy. Going to take our time with him. Barron is alright but I think we can find better options. He isn't the player we need right now. We need a veteran shut down style on the right side, that's why we signed Justin Holl but he hasn't worked out.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LikeABoss</b></div><div>Puckpedia has the value of eating Holl's contract at 1st round pick ~27th OA. Husso = 2nd round pick ~34 OA and Fabbri = 2nd round pick ~37 OA.
They're all still usable players in their 20s, so I don't see them as complete cap dumps, but I think this is in the ballpark</div></div>
Then don't dump them? If you can't move them for cheap, buyout Holl. His buyout is 1.133M per year. That's way better than paying a first. Fabbri can be moved for cheap, don't see him costing much to move. He has a pretty decent season. Even if we are 1M with retention it's better than paying to dump them.

BLOMS AWAY
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Yeah. This makes a lot of sense for CHI and DET, regardless of what some might think. DET isn't rebuilding anymore, if they need that cap space, they are gonna do what it takes. CHI's 2nd round pick will be 34th overall. That is not a bad trade off for DET to gain the cap space, maybe keep Kane around, re-sign Raymond, and create some roster space for young players/prospects to step into the NHL ranks. And there will definitely be some very intriguing prospects available with CHI's 2nd. I actually liked Husso a lot when he was with STL. It's a shame he hasn't panned out.</div></div>
Doesn't really make sense for Detroit. This team isn't any better. All we did was lose picks for nothing in this. Gus didn't post much better numbers, was healthy and had a way better defense infront of him. That's not an upgrade. Soda2.0 would be cool but he doesn't hold much value. That pick is too important to the long term plan. We will get a quality player at 15OA, those other picks are just lottery tickets.
