You aren't close. Would you trade Caufield for an equivalent package? They are going to want high potential players not a bunch of players that might be bottom of the roster guys if they are lucky. You would have to offer your pick this draft plus more, or one of Reinbacher or Slaf.

Too Early 2425 Opening Night Roster Projection
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TSTTrocks</b></div><div>I agree, a Maatta trade, and/or Holl cap dump/buyout seem like the most likely off-season moves to clear space. I was thinking Fabbri could be moved at TDL if Kasper, Mazur, Hanas, or Danielson are banging on the door.
Soderblom had a strong end to the season in GR, hopefully he has a big playoff run here. I mostly included him in this lineup because he is cost effective. He needs to bring energy consistently to be useful at the bottom of the lineup.
Honestly I am worried about signing a RHD as I think ASP will be ready as soon as 2025</div></div>
Even if he is ready for 2025, will he be a top 4 option then? They likely make him take the same route at Edvinsson. Maybe he comes to play in Grand Rapids next season, then maybe gets some time with injuries.
Could look at shorter term options like Tanev or Carrier. There are options this off season and we should make a move I think.

Too Early 2425 Opening Night Roster Projection
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TSTTrocks</b></div><div>Subbing out Ghost for Ed and cycling between Maatta and AJo. A full season of Ed after a healthy off season and continued development will be a huge add. Hopefully Walman is 100% ready to go by training camp as well.
I don't think anything else is possible without giving up assets to move Maatta, holl, chiarot, or Petry.
I won't be surprised if they regress a bit in the standings next year as the youth trickle in and the temporary cap crunch hits, but also won't be surprised if they "over perform" again.</div></div>
I do agree Ed over Ghost should be an improvement and help for the future.
I feel Walman should be healthy for next season, don't see why not.
I don't see us moving Chiarot, he's played decent this year. Petry can't be moved and a buyout isn't really worth it. I wouldn't hate if he was a third pairing guy. I would hope we could get slight value for Maatta, might not be so with Fabbri but he almost got 20 this year. Just be really nice to add a top 4 RHD this season. Montour, Pesce, Roy or Carrier to name a few. Even if it meant paying a depth pick to move a contract or two, probably worth it. Holl can be bought out.
I wouldn't hate if we regressed a bit if it meant getting youth in the line up. I want to see what Danielson can do and Kasper as well. Danielson I believe is eligible for AHL so he likely end up there. I don't think Soderblom has done enough to warrant a spot.

I get that but I don't think he would be the best use of cap. We were 9th best for goals for, 9th worst for goals against. Love him or hate him, Copp is one of our best defensive options in the forward group.

Stamkos have been a centre for a few years now. He wouldn't be good there. Sure he would bump up the offense but how about our lack luster defense?

Use the cap hit for? Signing another similar player in free agency to a new deal? We need Compher at 2C as we likely won't find a replacement any time soon. Sign Monahan, Stephenson or Lindholm? We would just be starting that contract over yet. Kasper and Danielson aren't going to just come on and dominate. They will need players around them to insulate them.

Replace Buium with Johansson. He loses waiver eligibility and has shown he could probably be ready. This seems like a likely outcome though.

Wings fire Lalonde hire Fedorov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>qc14</b></div><div>Getting it out of the way now that yes I know they haven't had any lottery luck. That being said, he's very purposefully created a team that is Larkin, Raymond, Seider, and a whole bunch of expensive, veteran additions. Is that Larkin/Raymond/Seider core good enough to be the 1c/1w/1d on a playoff team, let alone a contender? Maybe. I would say Larkin and Raymond look like it, but Seider has taken worrying steps back since his rookie year.
As for a top 5 prospect pool -- given they have drafted in the top 10 since 2017 (!!!) I sure would hope they do. I would also point out that no one outside of Raymond and Seider from the 2019 and 2020 drafts look like they will be anything more than depth NHL guys, including all 6 (!!!) 2nd rounders. Edvindsson, Kasper, Danielson, and ASP all have no reasons to be super worried about right now, I wouldn't say any are on track to be real stars or look like they have outperformed their draft position.
Of his big vet adds, which have really been hits? Kane rather surprisingly was, DeBrincat was much more good than bad, and Perron has been good value for the money. Giving out almost 11m to Compher and Copp has been disastrous though, and while Walman and Maata have been completely fine every other D addition has been bad.
The fact of the matter is that even in the easiest playoff race in recent memory, this DET team -- that was almost entirely shaped by Yzerman -- came up short to an absolutely awful Washington team. At some point, this team has to start making actual strides</div></div>
Worrying steps back? Nah. He just doesn't have any help. He also matched his point total without powerplay time. The team defense is really bad, he can't do everything. Also he just turned 23, he has alot of time to grow.
As for the drafting. Sorry he didn't hit on every single pick? In 2019, maybe 6 or 7 guys will be NHL regulars from the second round. 2020 probably about the same thing. I'm guessing he should have a crystal ball and know who are going to be hits.
You obviously know nothing of Edvinsson, Kasper, Danielson or ASP. Edvinsson was looking great at the end of the season, be will be on the team next year. Kasper is playing great in the BB AHL, slow start but that's too be expected when coming to North America. Just cause his points don't jump off the board, doesn't mean he isn't playing great. He has exceptional two way play and gives it all every shift. He is likely the best centre in that draft outside of Cooley and Wright. Danielson is another guy that is playing exceptional. Again, really good two way and is also a work horse. He's had a really decent season in the dub this year, especially after being traded. Most people figured he should have made the team this year with how well he played in preseason. ASP had a really good season in Europe and might possibly come over to North America next year. Nothing wrong with his development.
As for the free agent signings. How the **** do you expect them to ice a team if they don't sign free agents? Are some of the contracts great? Probably not, but when do UFA contracts ever look good. Chiarot was literally one of the best defensemen available in his free agent class, probably had to overpay a bit to get him. He also played quite good this year. Perron was a great add. Copp is a good add even though most people don't think so. He starts 2/3 in the defensive zone, hard to produce offense like that. He has been great as a defensive centre. Compher, same as Chiarot, best centre available in free agency. Petry wasn't great but we had a hole to fill and he filled it. He should be more of a depth player now instead of top four.
The fact of the matter is this team has made positive strides and people that understand how this works are fine with what he has done.

Detroit has other areas of need before we worry about upgrading in net. It also doesn't make sense for us where we are in our rebuild to be spending assets to acquire veterans. Nothing against Markstrom himself though, at least for me.

Leshunov is top 2-3 on almost every trade board, bit I've seen some with Parekh going top 5 with Yamechuk outside the top 10, and some with Yamechuk going top 5, and Parekh outside the top 10.
Assuming we'd be happy with one of those three, it might be a gamble worth taking, but I might want a more usable player like Kovacevic instead of Barron, as I don't see Barron as a fit with the Ducks who have no need for his offensive abilities.
I'd also imagine this doesn't happen until after the lottery, in case that wasn't obvious.</div></div>
I could see them having interest in Lindstrom as well.

I think Sharks fans overreacting on the Forsberg trade. I think the trade holds some weight if they like a player in the first round that they don't expect to be there in the second. Wouldn't hurt to run 3 goalies, especially considering Vanecek is hurt right now and Blackwood has a long injury history. Could buyout Vanecek as well. The buyout isn't bad.
