Rest of TDL
I don't like the Konecny deal. He's a fantastic player having a fantastic season, don't get me wrong, but that's a top 4 defenseman, a 1st, and our best prospect for him.
IMO, without Pettersson on our blue line, we're going to have a hard time making the playoffs, let alone winning a round. It's a lot of futures, which is fine, but it doesn't immediately make the team better imo.

Someone needs to kidnap Ron before he trades Pettersson away. Petts has taken that next step this season and has really looked the part. Could easily slide up to top LD next season with Dumo going UFA. I don't like this move beyond this season.

Swap out Kapanen for the 2023 1st - Top 10 protected. Canucks have no need for Kapanen.

I’m not a fan of bringing Sheary back. I would have rather brought back D.Kahun at 800k.
And the pens aren’t trading C.Sceviour and Matheson b4 each even play a game. Right now, Sceviour is our 4th line RW until ZAR is back and healthy. And if we do make acouple more signings they will bury his contract in the AHL until the deadline when his expiring contract has more value to a team out of contention. Right now we would probably have to give up assets for a team to take him.
ANd Matheson is a reclamation project. Pens are pretty good at turning around young D. We have a good defensive system and if Matheson scores 8-12 goals, 18-25 assists and 26-36 points. Which he is capable of. Especially if the Ceci/Ruthwedel platoon just stays at home and let’s Matheson do all the offensive rushing and all the outlets, all the cross ice passing and the skating the puck through the neutral zone. And They just play solid D and Matheson worries about the offense. And he should get alittle time on the Point on our 2nd PP unit too . Especially if Letang misses any time. If that happens, he will either be selected in the expansion draft or he’s definitely gonna have more value than now, b4 he even plays 1 game in PGH.
I like the Granlund and Haula signing though. I don’t think we can sign both as the roster is now though. I would prefer Granlund over Haula if it was my chose. And Granlund will probably be cheaper too. I

I agree on playing McDavid on the wing, and not the center. You would want a center that is better at the draws, and that is better defensively like Crosby!

Hard to pass..lol. Malkin making under 5M a year.. a top 20 player in the NHL for a top 4 LHD. Lol. Hard to pass, u think?? Haha, JK.
But that trade is just crazy. It would be atleast Cirelli and Sergachev rights for Malkin and retaining 50%. Probably a 1st round pick too. Which is obviously gonna be a late one. With Malkin too on TB. Probably gonna be the last pick. That offer would be hard to pass up. You’d get Malkin for 4.75Myear and only have to sign Cernak now. Ya, I think TB couldn’t say no to that either

I’ve already made offer sheet threads. Doing that again would be very boring and very repetitive. Also you need to read up on offer sheets because Tampa would get less from an offer sheet (just another reason Tampa isn’t going to be able to move the guy for like 5 first round picks or whatever the heck you seem to think he’s worth, pens are already giving Tampa more than an offer sheet would give them)
Tampa bay doesn’t have income tax, correct, but pittsburgh is a far, far, far cheaper place to live and you are seriously overstating the importance of local tax rates in this deal.
Cirelli is not getting 7 million no matter where he goes. Not in a cap league during the pandemic that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve read all day

Okay so why would this be relevant? I could care less if he goes and plays somewhere else after 1 or 2 years. Don’t you get it, man? 1-2 years is all that exists for the pens.
After that, for all we know Geno bugs off to Russia and Letang gets overpaid by some other team and we tank hard.if you really want to go down the “what are the pens gunna do in two years route” then it honestly helps my argument. Letang and Genos contracts run up and we can afford to give Cirelli a massive pay raise should he earn it.

lol, we had arguably a worse defenceman in Zaitsev who had 5 years left on his deal (thanks to the GM of the year, Lou), so we traded for Ceci, and he accepted his qualifying offer (which ottawa already offered him), which we basically had no control over
Very different than actively acquiring Ceci with the expection he'd be good. We knew he was gonna suck, and there was nobody who we could've stuck with Rielly that would've been better. Barrie made him worse, Holl worked great with Muzzin.
It was just an unfortunate series of events that we were stuck with because Lou signed Zaitsev to a 4.5Mx7 year deal lmao

The leafs were stuck with him on the top pair for a year, and it was brutal lol
The only reason his numbers were semi respectable (defensively) this year is because he was playing with Rielly, so idk how he's gonna do with Matheson.</div></div>
He’s not gonna be asked to do anything offensively so I think he will be ok.
It’s just like I said, it’s a bad signing b/c he’s not an upgrade over Ruthwedel. That’s why it’s a bad signing.
And for kappy. Him and Zucker are the 2 best wingers Crosby will have on his wings...ever..lol. If neither of them or just Kappy doesn’t step-up, it’s nothing new. Crosby has carried his own line for years and can do it again.
And any Pens fan(like the one who posted..lol) that doesn’t have Guentzel/Malkin/Rust Line still in tack, they don’t know what they are talking about. Rust scored 27 goals and had 56 points in 55 games last year(a point per game). Guentzel was on pace for a career year b4 he got hurt. And they played together and have had chemistry for 3 years now. The line isn’t gonna break up. And when we put Zucker onto Malkin’s line last year, it was disastrous. Zucker had zero goals and 1 point. And had 6 goals and 11 points on Crosby’s line(his 12 points in 15 games w/ the Pens). Zucker is playing on Crosby’s LW this year.

Pens 2021
Why do people insist on Guentzel on Crosby’s Line?? lol. Guentzel/Malkin/Rust has been a great line. And when the Pens played Zucker on Malkin’s line last year, it didn’t go well at all. And went really well on Crosby’s line. Definitely gonna be Zucker/Crosby/Kapanen and Guentzel/Malkin/Rust(as usual) next year. Crosby has been carrying his own line for years. Nothing new if Zucker or Kappy don’t step-up.
And Tanev is a 4th line energy player(and more comfortable on the LW. Only reason he has that RW on this site is cause he did play alittle RW last year on the 4th line of Tanev/Blueger/Z.A.R.; and both him and Z.A.R. are left-handed shots). 3rd line will be McCann/Janko/Rodrigues to start. 4th line will be Tanev/Blueger/Sceviour. And Z.A.R will be on the LTIR(he coming off off-season surgery. He was out 6-8 months after his surgery. Hockey is supposed to start again in December. He won’t be back till February/March.
Defense is already set: Dumoulin/Letang, Pettersson/Marino, Matheson/Ceci,Ruthwedel platoon.

Madison Bowey was literally one of the worst players in The NHL over the last few years. The Penguins just got rid of one of those guys. If you are signing Jan Rutta, a much better player, what's the point of bringing in Bowey, who is an AHL level player on an NHL contract.

But OTT isn’t ready to win now, so are they gunna give that much up for a goalie when they have UFA options, options within their own org, or could draft askarov?
I think Murray’s gotta go to a contender. If OTT gets their goalie now he could be 30 by the time their window opens wide
