Understatement of the century.
If Jarmo picks up his phone and hears that proposal, he doesn't just hang up, he bans the use of all phones from Nationwide Arena for the rest of eternity.

Over the last five seasons, Letang has 20 more even strength points than Orlov (an average of four more each year), but Orlov is four years younger and $2,125,000 softer on the salary cap.
Letang plays bigger minutes some years, and then gets injured. Does he have more endurance? Who knows. Who cares. Keeping Orlov makes more sense for a team that has Carlson and Ovechkin on the points of its power play for the first 1:30.
eta: Orlov is also slightly more effective on PK, but Letang obviuosly is a power play superstar almost as good as Carlson on the right point. He has tons of trade value, expecially on a short, low-risk contract. Good luck finding the right spot, if that's the route y'all go.

I agree, caps dont need/want Letang, and pens dont want to sell him for less than what hes worth. All the Letang rumours just need to die

Massive trade with AZ
I thk pens are open to moving McCann, but that’s not the trade.
McCann def has way more value than a one dimensional winger that’s failed with his second team

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DomCholette</b></div><div>We all know that Pens fan want LEtang out of their book as is play went down alot this short season as he is injury prone... taking Petry is a wash and actually Petry outplayed Letang this year.
and then 2 top 6 Center for 2 Middle6 and prospect. (Actually like a lot Poulin & your first but won't help MTL short term) Value might not be off that much, just doesn't help enough our team</div></div>
No pens fans want Letang off their books Lol. He still had an excellent season and will gather Norris votes. Petry definitely didnt out play Letang this year. Also, this is the part where I have to point out that Letangs production slowed down when Dumo was injured and he had to play with Johnson. This year Letang spent about 45% of his even strength minutes with johnson, yet his even strength production was only about 25% of that. You can look that up here if you so choose to. So Letang is definitely not the problem. He’s an elite D, and his contract is great value. Pens will not be trading him.

Yeah, I tried to balance it though. Decent prospect from the FLA trade and a two 2nd rounders with a condition to make one of them a first. I'm close! lol

Russell is terrible. We don't need another overpriced bottom pairing defender. I'd rather just keep Bjugstad in the hopes that he can get healthy.

I..I..I don't really know what to say about that deal. I guess we should sweeten the deal by adding Marner as well at this rate.

And you're going to need to entice OTT and LAK more to take on those contracts. Not enough going to them

Pit loses the LA trade pretty clearly. Rust should be worth an early second at worst. No way horny OKs that. KassIan/Pul is a clear massive downgrade from rust and horny. Patty doesn’t want to play here. This hasn’t addressed any of our needs.
Not big on these deals personally

While not speaking on the value of the trade overall, I do like bringing in Klefbom. However, what I like more is getting Puljujarvi and then not signing him. I suppose his inclusion by Edmonton is addition through subtraction while saving face on their Yakupov v2.0.

Gusev - Fleury - Dano
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac555</b></div><div>The only way Carolina thinks about this now is if Williams actually retires and Pens absorb some salary. In addition, ita only be for picks or prospect. Fleury will be a key roster player this year with DeHaan moving out.
I like the ‘not working out in Carolina’ comment. Not true, he’s been buried in the depth chart until now. He won a Calder Cup in Charlotte.</div></div>
You're right he has been buried on the depth chart. The "not working out" comment is the fact that he is a #7 pick who played almost an entire season with the Canes in 2018 and was still buried on the depth chart last year after Hanifin was gone. Is he going to beat out Bean, are the Canes going to shop UFA Dmen at all? I look at Fleury's situation in CAR similar to Maatta's in PIT

Gusev - Fleury - Dano
The difference is that GMJR handed $24.5M over 6 years to Maatta out of his ELC, Fleury looks to be heading for a modest bridge 1-1.5M for 2-3 years.
As compared to his 2014 Draft class, Fleury has been a bust. Ehlers, Nylander, Pasta, etc etc etc have all out performed him. Same could be said for a lot of players, but agree with this. However, his fit this year could allow him to show his potential finally. He’s not a goal scorer, but he could be a extremely good 5th/6th Defenseman who can eat mins and be used in the PK.

Gusev - Fleury - Dano
Simon is cheap and an incredible possession player than can play on the 1st line down the the 4th, so I would prefer to ZAR or Rust I think. Kinda tricky with both VGK and PIT as trade partners as they are both cap strapped but it's an interesting offer. Hornqvist might fit well with Carolina, I just don't know what they would be offering to return at full salary. OTT would be nuts to not accept that JJ trade I think just for Almeida alone, but as there are with all prospects, there are still question marks.

Probably a bit of an overpay for Gusev, but at least it's a 2021 1st, not a 2020, but I'm okish ig with it, I'd prefer to give up conditional picks instead in case he becomes the next Shipachyov, I think we can get more back for desmith than trading up from a 5th to a 4th, and getting an AHLer back, probably take out the 5th, bc Kinkaid went for a 5th, and Desmith>>>Kinkaid, I'd hate to give up Almari and Almeida, but if we have to to get rid of JJ, ig I'll take it lol, that's a lot back for Hornqvist, I'd be really happy if we could just get Fleury, and what's the point of bringing in Dano, he was in the AHL for most of last year, I'd rather just call up Adam Johnson

Finishing Touches
- BIG FAN of ur ANA & VGK trades (bc i have also done same deals involving those players) LOL.
- I think we keep Guddy for 1 more yr before we trade him.
- Rusty is worth a lot more than that, Teams will value a guy that can play on every line, at any time, has tons of speed,a great PK guy, a clutch scorer, w/ 2 rings, tons of playoff exp., on a fair contract, and still only 27yrs old.
