<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>They have a very long window ahead of them. Bourque, Stankoven, Johnston are going to be key core pieces to the offense and will all be better than Benn and Seguin currently are. Add to that Hintz, Robertson, Heiskanen, and Oettinger and you have one of the best cores in the NHL. In my opinion this means they wouldn't be looking to trade for players that are all downgrades. Again, Laughton could be a target for Dallas if they find the cap space but it wouldn't be a trade involving 4 players a side.
Also Heiskanen plays both sides and primarily right. Lindell is not playing first pair LHD so that means that left side is wide open for Harley to climb if he proves himself worthy</div></div>
I was actually just looking at their prospect pool and it is insane how deep it is. They really did build it the right way. They were very fortunate getting Jake hintz and Robertson with lay first or 2nd round picks. Just really good scouting by them. They also have Kyrou on RD coming up. They will probably win the cup in the next 5 years

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>seanrushton</b></div><div>He's probably going to be good for at least another half-decade so I don't know why you'd dismiss it out of hand... you might have to deal with another prospect or pick with him but I think he'd be a pretty good fit for the Philly team... maybe a Vasili Ponomaryov and a second-rounder if Philly dismisses it out of hand</div></div>
But the flyers are not going to be good for the next several years. He’s a UFA after next year and they won’t spend cap on a UFA. It’s just not what they’re looking to do. They want to get younger and play the kids

New look flyers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>The trade is heavily in favour of Philly. Harley is a far better prospect than Zamula and/or Lacz. Marchment is a great player, just had a down year. Same cannot be said of Risto. Miller is more effective than Risto even. Laughton is the only good piece for Dallas in that deal. I don't see a way a trade beyond Faska + pick for Laughton works</div></div>
Laughton looks to be getting a 1st or a 2nd all on his own. Faksa is a cap dump compared to Laughton. Especially after a very strong worlds tournament. Risto was much better this year. Especially in the second half of the year after he learned the new system. Marchment played out of his mind on Florida last year on a stacked team. Might have been a fluke that he cashed in on. His contract might not age well. And as I said, Dallas still has the first round LHD they drafted last year and with Esa and Miro on the left and locked in long term Harley won’t have much room to climb the depth chart. And if I swap in Allison, all of those guys fit their current contention window very well.
This is more of a push to win now kind of move. And after getting so close this year they are gonna try to win sooner rather than later while Benn and Seguin are still producing

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>No reason for Dallas to make that trade. Laughton would be the only piece they would actually want. They won't be trading Harley</div></div>
Dallas is up against the cap with all the big contracts they’ve given out to Miro, hintz, Robertson, Jake, on top of the Benn and seguin deals. They have no room to move. And they’re gonna have to pay Harley soon too. They do have the big dman they just drafted in the first last year too so they are very deep on the left side and much weaker on the right. Risto helps with that. He is always talked about being a force on a playoff team. He’s never had that chance. Dallas got really close and won’t want to run it back as is. This trade helps them. Laughton is definitely an upgrade over Faksa. I would even replace Laczynski with Allison as part of the negotiations

Hire a habs fan as GM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>With respect: I think it depends on Couturier's health.
Seems like Frost is working out as a potential 2C/3C and between Nylander, Konecny, Tippett, and Farabee... The Flyers could do some damage next year with a center line of Couturier, Hayes, Frost, Laughton</div></div>
They have literally said they are rebuilding and building the team the right way. Even if Couturier comes back to 100% next year they cannot go into the season expecting that. They are not going to make the playoffs next year. They have already said as much. The plan is to shed long term contracts and get younger. Couturier is the exception because even if they wanted to trade for him, no team would trade for him. But everyone else is on the table. Torts wants to subtract players that don’t fit what he’s doing. And hitting the reset button.

The only “splash” the flyers are looking to make is trading out some bigger names like Hayes, TK, Provy and Sanheim. Only time it will be a splash coming back is if they are getting a highly touted prospect. They don’t want to bring in anyone 25 or older because they won’t fit the timeline. They want prospects to build from the ground up

Trading Chabot and getting Hart
Yeah the flyers do not want to take an overpaid Joseph. He is 26 so older than what the flyers want in return and he has never even scored 20 points in a year. And he makes 3mil? No thank you. Greig or Boucher instead of Joseph or no deal for me

Vet on a very young team who has played for Torts. More of short term leadership. Fill in for injuries

That was the last regime, Chuck made those decisions. TDA was probably the best option for a RD at the time. Lemieux was UFA throw in. They weren’t specifically trading for him. In order for the deal to work they had to take him back

Defensive Overhaul- kicking the rebuild into high gear
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Samsoc22</b></div><div>Not a fan of any of these deals honestly not sure how they help the team going forward</div></div>
Get younger across the board. Shedding long term deals to set the team up for future reshaping. Taking chances on reclamation projects that could excel with the proper coaching. If they don’t work out then they are only signed short term. Adding another 1st in the teens so the can go BPA at 7 and maybe grab one of the 2 RHD at 13.
This would be the quickest way to rebuild as all these guys are in their low 20s and if some of the reclamation guys excel then it expedites things even more

Matthews for real with extension
Yeah I’m sorry, Matthews is good but that price is too high. Especially with CBJ likely to get a high end player with the 3OA pick, and then you tack on another first and 3 very good young players on top of Laine. Too much. You need to build a team around him as well and you mortgaged your present and future for one player. As a Flyers fan I think the worst trade in their history is the Lindros trade. This would be just as bad. They have a good foundation and this would ruin it

Big moves by the new GM
A couple issues with this:
Flyers are rebuilding. Not really looking to bring in a player with that much salary. Although they are starving for high end talent and the price isn’t that high. However if it was a high end player that was any other position than RW it would be much more enticing. They have way too many RWs on the roster and coming up through the system.
Marners NMC kicks in soon. If he doesn’t like Torts or or Philly then he could wait it out and leave in FA if he wanted to and we get nothing except him helping us win meaningless games and prolonging the rebuild.
Ultimately not the right move for a franchise that wants to build something sustainable

The Triumvirate
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jared8000</b></div><div>Pry Greig, Ridly Out of Ottawas cold dead hands</div></div>
I get the feeling that with most of their core locked up, acquiring Chychrun last year and Giroux on his last several years, they want to make a hard push to win now. If they can’t afford to keep Debrincat and end up dealing him, they are going to want another winger to replace that production. TK is from there and had a breakout year last year and still on a very good contract. I think they’ll feel they can deal some of the young guys for a more immediate impact on the NHL roster.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bunnymcfoo</b></div><div>Yeah, that trade with San Jose would never, ever happen. First, SJ isn't trading back. Second, Vlasic has a full NMC and there's no compelling reason for him to go to Philly. It's just not happening, friend.</div></div>
I actually meant to add the 2024 FLA first as well (fixed). My thought process was that they get out from under Vlasics contract in its entirety ( if they ask him to waive and he agrees) in return they get a couple pieces for their own rebuild and take on the Ellis contract that they can just LTIR. Then they also get another 1st. For moving down 3 spots in a draft where they are still going to get a very good player. Briere might just want to be aggressive

Why wouldn’t they want him back at 2.5 mil for one year? Ghost is a UFA, they already know he works well with Slavin. As far as I know they just didn’t want to resign him at the 5 mil mark he was looking for
