Blackhawk Down
Agree with your on both points, I'd say remove the 2nd on the chucky trade
Also, not convinced on Tkatchuk @ 3OA and don'T think Dibson is there @11, I think you go with goal scoring and needs something like Zadina/JK. If you're lucky, you get Hugues at 10 but I doubt it happens
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Truebeliever</b></div><div>I like the Toews trade -- captain for captain and a deal that would help both organizations. Chicago can't get away from the Seabrook and Keith contracts, so they need to find some breathing room beyond Hossa retiring. With Hossa out, the Hawks have $11M to sign eight players.
My two faults:
1) I think you're underestimating Galchenyuk and overestimating Bellows in this deal. I think you'd get more from AZ, COL or LAK.
2) You have about $9M in unspent cap space and no solution for Shaw and Byron being out until December. Surely you can shore up the lineup a bit more</div></div>

Jesperi Kotkaniemi at 3?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DomCholette</b></div><div>He would be a great fit but you can't do this with your 3OA... you will need to trade down from 6 to 10 (Det,Van,Chic,NRY,EDM) as he is ranked around 10OA.
Maybe
Det: 3OA for AA + 6OA.
Van: Hutton LHD+ 7OA for 3OA
Chi: Saad+8OA for Shaw +3OA
NYR: Names+ 9OA for 3OA
EDM: Drai+10OA for Pacc + 3OA... THE BIG TRADE!!! :cool</div></div>
If you want JK, then the Chicago offer is the best one, I think he'll be there and you get Saad while getting rid of injury prone Shaw.
If you want to remain fairly high, then the Det trade makes lots of sense but I think Detroit goes with a D, therefore have no need to move up to get either Bogvist or Hugues.
All that to say MB needs to figure it out and then tell us what the hell did he entertain thru the process to convince us he hasn't completely lost it

I think to pull ROR out of Bufallo, it's gonna cost Mtl a Glacheniuk type of player, which I would hate to lose.
I wouldn'T touch Drouin, Galcheniuk, Gallager, the rest of the winger can all go. If Bufallo wants a D, then we can give them anyone not named Weber and build a package around that

given Buffalo needs help on D, I don't think the go for it
if Mtl could swap Patch for another first rounder, say with NYI for the 11th. then maybe they talk 3/11+ for #1 but i'd be surprised

Draft: Real trade action- 3 teams MTL- ARZ- CALG
You essentially are going "all-in" short term by trading your youth for established players
Therefore I think you need to do one of these
1) Trade some of those 2nd to get a 2C.
2) Move back into the first round to get a top C prospect and potentially play him. Maybe check with NYI [#12 for 3 2nd & Lindgren]
3) Trade Pacc for a good C and sign a scoring winger (JVR, James Neal, ...)

Solid pre draft moves for MTL
1) not sure BYI get all these big contracts at the expense of 11/12
2) I like it but it feels incomplete, I would have loved to see what you do with the picks.
3) Assuming trade did go thru, I'm thinking Zadina at #3, then I try and move the NYI picks to move up the draft see how high the 2 picks would get you, 5-6-7-8? or could you package 3-11-12 to move to 1st? there's no LD or C in the 3-5 range so can you move to where you wanna pick and add assets?

Matching needs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ThatGuy</b></div><div>I can understand what you are saying… That being said, everyone has their own opinion on what a player is worth. My "CF" opinion on a particular player is definitely different from, let say, Bergevin's opinion, as his opinion is most likely different than every other GM and owner in the league. The only difference between us and them is that they have the power to pull the trigger. Now, when a trade does happen IRL, it’s not necessarily a perfect representation of what the player is realistically worth. People under/overvalue players all the time. IDK why you are being critical of people sharing their opinions of certain players. Yes, there are a lot of brutal ARMCHAIR-GM roster put together, but there are also some good ones. I, for example, being a Sens Fan, see people significantly undervalue Karlsson all the time. So I like to shed my Opinion on the situation by commenting or creating my own ARMCHAIR-GM roster to put things into perspective. I have never expected or thought that I could directly influence a trade made by a NHL GM IRL through Cap Friendly (And I hope no one does).
Regarding the Price trade. I like to think I am making an informed/realistic proposition. For Instance, I know the cap is most likely going to go up from 75M to 80M next year. I know that the flyers are probably not going to resign players like Filppula or Read (Freeing up, 8+ Million in cap space) but need to save cap space for some of their up and coming prospects (Provorov + Konecny > Patrick). And, most importantly, the flyers have not had a good goalie in like 15 years which has greatly affected their postseason success. Everyone in that Organization desperately wants a true Starting goalie (the most important position in hockey IMO). Now for me, the biggest mistake people make on here is overvaluing High Draft Picks. Having a top 10 drafted player in your roster does not guarantee you a #1 Center or a Top 2 D. So I definitely think that the Price Trade is a more than fair/realistic deal for both sides. However, do I think it will happen? Absolutely not. I don’t think the Habs can afford to trade away another key player and Fan Favourite. They still have a business to run.</div></div>
I agreed they aren't likely to trade Price but instead of rejiggling the same ideas all the time, tought it was interesting to float the idea of having one of the best G in the league go to a team that has been looking for one for years now.
To put things in perspectives, look at what Colorado got for Duchesne, ton of picks and young prospects, I'd like to believe Price has a lot more value than Duchesne therefore Patrick, a first and Hart seemed like good value for one if not the best guy at the position. Does that mean Philly can fit the money in their long term strategy, not sure nor do I care, I'm building the Mtl roster :)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BrandonMcD11</b></div><div>Youre crazy if you think we can get all that from philly for price. Their future 1C, their future starting goalie, and a first round pick. For a goalie that just came up a terrible season and an injury. Also whats with the scherbak trade? Have you watched any habs games while Sherbak was playing, the guy is going to be good, a huge part of this teams future</div></div>
if you trade Price and expect JT to come, then you need to have someone decent in nets from day 1. While I agree Scherbak should be good, we have tons of wingers and no more NHL ready goalie in this scenario
As for the Price trade, it all depends on whether Philly wants to get a goalie now and go through the good days of Voracek, Giroux and the older guys or whether they want to build for 3+ years from now. They have the cap space, they have the need, who knows

Next year's team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jp_harvey</b></div><div>Of course they are. Benn's contract is 1.1M$ a year for another year and Alzner's one is 4.65M$ a year for another 4 years. It diminishes his value a whole lot, especially when MTL isn't retaining any salary...don't you think?
And for Perron, he had a really great season, of course, but his track record in the last 5 or 6 seasons isn't that pure, so that would be an easy argument of negociation for Bergevin. It still would be the best contract of his career, front loaded in the first 2 years (6.5M/5.6M/4M/3.3M for an AAV of 4.85M).</div></div>
Make it Lock out protected and that should do the trick, something like 5M signing bonus the year of a potential lockout

Carolina fans?
First off, you got a pick from Carolina but didn't use it :) Get Veleno @ 11
Second, EEEEEEVEN without JT, I think you're on to something. You could leave Drouin @ Center and sign JVR @ 7x7 and still have a much better lineup next year. Then you would have the likes of Veleno or Poehling coming up and hopefully one day, move into a #1 center role and be good at it.
But if JT decides he's in for the challenge, then gitty up

#1 swap Chuky and Drouin, I think Drouin will remain at Center
#2 Swap Hanifin and Mete
#3 Don't need Carlson, Petry can do good in limited minutes if we get a good young 3rd pairing @ the draft, Bouchard, Hugues, Dobson, .... Dhalin, there's something to be had early in the draft for Mtl
#4 Dump Shaw wherever you want while he has value. 3.9M on the fourth for an injury riddled winger is like dancing next to the fire while showering in Jet fuel, you don't need to do that :cheers

You can't have a 10M$ 4th line. it's just bad business
with this structure, they can'T resign Barzal, Beauvilier and Bellows when their rookie deals are done.
They don'T need Domi, They need to find a way to dump Ladd elsewhere, that's what they really need

Swap Galcheniuk for Patch and I think MTl has to sit down and think about it long and hard.
If Mtl is not getting 1C this summer, aka Tavares, then u got to think 2-3 years out and by then, Weber will be on his last miles as a #1D.
So I don't know, quite the head scratcher, well done
