Youre crazy if you think we can get all that from philly for price. Their future 1C, their future starting goalie, and a first round pick. For a goalie that just came up a terrible season and an injury. Also whats with the scherbak trade? Have you watched any habs games while Sherbak was playing, the guy is going to be good, a huge part of this teams future

if you trade Price and expect JT to come, then you need to have someone decent in nets from day 1. While I agree Scherbak should be good, we have tons of wingers and no more NHL ready goalie in this scenario

As for the Price trade, it all depends on whether Philly wants to get a goalie now and go through the good days of Voracek, Giroux and the older guys or whether they want to build for 3+ years from now. They have the cap space, they have the need, who knows

IDK why you're being so critical. You're trading arguably the best goalie ever for unproven assets in: Nolan (Good and as potential but nowhere near to being a #1 C yet), Hart (Good in Junior, but contrary to players, it's also impossible to predict if a goalie will have the same success in the NHL), and a mid 1st round pick (Will most likely be a 3-4th line guy, unless you get lucky) .

And, What do you see in Sherbak that I am missing?

I think you guys have to distinguish between what people on here (CF) think and what the GM's IRL would think. They are two completely different things.

Everything on here is so black or white because their is no consequence to being polarizing. GM's don't always have the luxury of not doing anything for example. Sometimes they are simply puppets for the owner.

Carey Price on here is already being considered a cap dump for some asinine reason because of one bad season.... Which fair enough, in fantasy hockey that really diminishes a players value. However in the GM world I guarantee there are numerous teams that would wet the bed to get Price. Yeah sure Habs would have to either eat some salary or take back a bad contract to offset a bit of the high salary being taken on but make no mistake about it, we'd get a nice haul for it!

People on here are way to easy to write off players and have a weird mentality that if you can convince enough people here on CF that your right, that the irl GM might actually listen or something........That's why so many people try to "lowball" offer trades or undervalue thinking it will make it happen in real life or something? Nothing gained from it other than a fake understanding of what the masses actually think a players value is worth. Kind of defeats the purpose if the goal is to be as realistic as possible.

Do I think Price for those 3 pieces is fair? Probably not. Unless MTL retains, Philly couldn't even just take on Price's huge contract. But this is where the black or white comment rings true. Just because Price might not be worth Patrick, Hart and a 1st straight up necessarily doesn't mean he is worth a Macdonald, Morin and a 4th either.

This doesn't mean Philly HAS to want Price. There is a difference between not wanting and not needing.

I can understand what you are saying… That being said, everyone has their own opinion on what a player is worth. My "CF" opinion on a particular player is definitely different from, let say, Bergevin's opinion, as his opinion is most likely different than every other GM and owner in the league. The only difference between us and them is that they have the power to pull the trigger. Now, when a trade does happen IRL, it’s not necessarily a perfect representation of what the player is realistically worth. People under/overvalue players all the time. IDK why you are being critical of people sharing their opinions of certain players. Yes, there are a lot of brutal ARMCHAIR-GM roster put together, but there are also some good ones. I, for example, being a Sens Fan, see people significantly undervalue Karlsson all the time. So I like to shed my Opinion on the situation by commenting or creating my own ARMCHAIR-GM roster to put things into perspective. I have never expected or thought that I could directly influence a trade made by a NHL GM IRL through Cap Friendly (And I hope no one does).

Regarding the Price trade. I like to think I am making an informed/realistic proposition. For Instance, I know the cap is most likely going to go up from 75M to 80M next year. I know that the flyers are probably not going to resign players like Filppula or Read (Freeing up, 8+ Million in cap space) but need to save cap space for some of their up and coming prospects (Provorov + Konecny > Patrick). And, most importantly, the flyers have not had a good goalie in like 15 years which has greatly affected their postseason success. Everyone in that Organization desperately wants a true Starting goalie (the most important position in hockey IMO). Now for me, the biggest mistake people make on here is overvaluing High Draft Picks. Having a top 10 drafted player in your roster does not guarantee you a #1 Center or a Top 2 D. So I definitely think that the Price Trade is a more than fair/realistic deal for both sides. However, do I think it will happen? Absolutely not. I don’t think the Habs can afford to trade away another key player and Fan Favourite. They still have a business to run.

I agreed they aren't likely to trade Price but instead of rejiggling the same ideas all the time, tought it was interesting to float the idea of having one of the best G in the league go to a team that has been looking for one for years now.

To put things in perspectives, look at what Colorado got for Duchesne, ton of picks and young prospects, I'd like to believe Price has a lot more value than Duchesne therefore Patrick, a first and Hart seemed like good value for one if not the best guy at the position. Does that mean Philly can fit the money in their long term strategy, not sure nor do I care, I'm building the Mtl roster smile

No way you're getting Nolan Price for Carey Price whom has health issues. Your garbage isn't getting Lindholm and Perry. You trade Price and Pacioretty and honestly think that Tavares is going to sign with Montreal. Yeah don't think so.
