Det: 3OA for AA + 6OA.
Van: Hutton LHD+ 7OA for 3OA
Chi: Saad+8OA for Shaw +3OA
NYR: Names+ 9OA for 3OA
EDM: Drai+10OA for Pacc + 3OA... THE BIG TRADE!!!

If you're going that route, and you're comfortable that you'd still get Kotkaniemi at 12, then trade the #3 to the NYI for #12 and #13. If you're worried he won't last that long, make the move with the NYR, who could trade #9, #26 and #28 for the top slot (assuming they want that, of course)

If you want JK, then the Chicago offer is the best one, I think he'll be there and you get Saad while getting rid of injury prone Shaw.

If you want to remain fairly high, then the Det trade makes lots of sense but I think Detroit goes with a D, therefore have no need to move up to get either Bogvist or Hugues.

All that to say MB needs to figure it out and then tell us what the hell did he entertain thru the process to convince us he hasn't completely lost it

If the Habs draft Veleno or Kotkaniemi with the 3rd overall, they are even dumber than I thought. Its BPA or trade down! This isn't rocket science. As long as there is more than 1 team interested in getting Zadina in the top 10, you'll have a trade get done. even if they underpay to move up and only throw in a 2nd rounder, at least you'll still get the player you wanted to take anyway plus an extra for moving down.

But what if no one wants to play ball? Or what if you're sure that Kotkeniemi or Veleno is the right player and is undervalued? The draft is such a crapshoot that as long as you're sure what you're drafting is going to be a very good player, there's an argument for being absolutely sure you get the kid you want.

If no one plays ball you stand put. The player you are getting is an elite winger. Value added is still value added. Teams in major need of goalie aren't throwing 1sts away for them. Draft them where they belong. Drafting down not only puts more pressure for it to be right. Louis Leblanc ring a bell? Its hard enough to get it right that taking risks by going on a feeling is ill advised. Its not only your scouts that are telling you Zadina is better, its the entire world that is saying it also.
