Swap Galcheniuk for Patch and I think MTl has to sit down and think about it long and hard.

If Mtl is not getting 1C this summer, aka Tavares, then u got to think 2-3 years out and by then, Weber will be on his last miles as a #1D.

So I don't know, quite the head scratcher, well done

MTL accept that trade, in ideal world, replace Galchenyuk for Pacioretty (with a new contract).

No chance in he!! the Wild make that trade! That trade makes the Wild (arguably) worse now...and certainly worse a few years down the line. With that said, Wild owner Liepold and GM Fletcher have shown time and time again that they think the Wild are Cup contenders (they are not fooling anyone with an IQ over 100) and more than willing to mortgage the future and go all in with their current roster...so...who the he!! knows.

Also, Granlund is not a center and Zucker is going to get a LOT more than that this summer.

Well I see what you're saying, but for the next 3-4 seasons this teams is stronger then it is now, not to mention Galchenyuk is young so its not a complete all in move. If it was patches instead then you could make that argument. Weber will add size, experience and a shutdown presence and he's played well with Suter in the past. This trade as depth down the line up

I see the Wild side in this. I might suggest seeing if there's a way to get Koivu into it as a way to relieve some cap pressure for Minnesota. Habs give up another young player (Lindgren? A young D prospect), maybe. Or simply add Max in and let the Wild decide whether to keep him or trade him at the deadline next year.

Wild hang up.

Chucky is older than Dumba (~5 months), JEE (3 years), Kunin (4 years), and the future 1st (7 years). The youth card won't work for Chucky in this case.

As for the contracts JEE will be coming off his ELC when Byron is a UFA. Kunin will be coming off his ELC when Chucky is a UFA.

Wild would have ~$23m tied up for the next 7 years in players in their mid 30's until their 40+. Weber's contract sucks monkey nuts. The same way Parise and Suter contracts suck monkey nuts. You might as well toss Price's monkey nut sucking contract in the trade for Kaprizov, Greenway and another 1st.

If the Wild are going all in to win then maybe Pacioretty instead of Galchenyuk would work better. The Weber-Suter pairing is a nice idea for them but the Wild might want a cap dump in there somewhere. Probably have to look at one of your centres. Coyle would be easiest to move, but getting Koivu or Staal to waive their NMC/NTC would be better.

We don't have much center depth (especially if we trade JEE) so why would we give up another center to get a LW when that is probably our deepest position in the organization? If you look at the last 3 years, Staal has also been a lot more durable than Patches and out produced him in terms of assists and points while only trailing in goals by 1. Koivu has never been a big time scorer but he's still a major part of this team and a great shutdown center.

Well you're sure as hell gonna have to get some cap dumped somewhere. That said, Staal is only 1 year so if it's win or bust no real problem with the cap.

Ennis's $4.6m will be off the books next year. JEE probably gets a $2-3m bridge deal. Vanek's $2.5m in dead money goes away after this year. Cap is supposed to go up a few million.

The 19-20 season is when decisions will really need to be made for Minny: Coyle, Granny, Koivu, and Spurgeon are all set to become UFA's after that season.

I still think Spurgeon is going to be the odd man out.

Honestly, I say no from the Wild's side of this even if Dumba's rights are not included in the deal.

I agree with Wabit (at least hope) Spurgeon is the odd man out and gets moved this summer...
