So yes I think that solves the Canadiens’s problems, but you’d be better off not dropping all that value and cap space on Toews and instead go after a UFA like Stasny. Then maybe trade Galchenyuk for a solid top 4 defenseman or depth and picks.

There’s a price to pay for Toews. I think that the Habs could make a long way in the playoff with that roster.
With all the picks in 2018 they would have a good depth.
I agree that they could use another solid defensman but they would be a puck moving core. If Price play’s is top game we are in buisness. Don’t you think?

In the event it doesn't work 3 years into this, then u have expensive contracts on older players that you can't trade (aka. Weber, Toews, Price) and no $$ to improve
