Eichel Who
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>My two cents (and remember, I'm a double divisional competitor): Monahan is worth DeBrusk and a first (if not more), and with Backlund, once you have DeBrusk, why do you even need Dvorak (for whom I think you're overpaying)?</div></div>
Backlund’s best at 3C in a shutdown role at this point, he provides incredibly consistent offense, but unfortunately it’s consistently 15-20 goals, ~45 points, which isn’t great for a 2C. So if we trade Monahan, we need another centre (either Eichel or Dvorak). I know Dvorak hasn’t even hit those numbers but he still has upside so that’s what would be betting on (as well as supplementing our depth with DeBrusk and our future with a 1st from Boston). So yeah not a huge fan of these trades (ideal version of this with the players involved for me would be 1st+Studnicka+DeBrusk for Monahan and Dvorak for two 2nds) but in theory it’s not terrible I guess. These lines seem pretty good if they want to shake up the room by trading Monahan in a non-Eichel package (especially if we get Studnicka for the 4C, he has higher upside than Gawdin). We could realistically get 90-100 goals from the top line, probably 60-70 from the 2nd line, 50-60 from the 3rd line, and hopefully the 4th line (with Pitlick not Lewis) can contribute like 25. This is assuming a pretty average season from everyone, no real breakouts. With Sutter bringing a lockdown defense we could be reasonably competitive.

<a href="/users/bhavikp27" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@bhavikp27</a> Cut the man some slack. Bennett is known to be an excellent playoff preformer, which vegas needs. As well the price for Hanifin is honestly just fine. Hanifin is only 23 and has a lot of upside as a former 5th overall pick.

I think you are too hung up on the top 6 vs bottom 6. These lines allow the team to spread the wealth and be a more well-rounded team as opposed to top-heavy as they have been in recent years

Konecny had a better year this past season than Gaudreau. He's 5 years younger and on a cheaper deal for long term. I'd rather have Konecny than Gaudreau but we can say they're even.
Giroux is an all around better player than monahan but monahan is 6 years younger and cheaper. I'd rather have monahan at this point in their careers but again I think they're pretty even in value.
Prospects are mostly opinion but I'd say farabee is a better prospect than dube. But not a 1st 2nd and 3rd better. I think it's a fair deal if you take out the 2nd and 3rd.
With all that said I think Philly declines. I think they're invested in the team they have and any moves they make will be minor

As good as Lucic played in the playoffs this year with Bennett and Dube he still has a much more proven synergy with Ryan. I think it's more likely with the recent signings that one of Leivo or Simon plays with Bennett and Dube and Looch is moved to the 4th line with Ryan. then Nordstrom and Leivo/Simon (whoever didn't get that last 3rd line spot) plays 4RW. We may still see a trade and I would be very surprised if Kylington spend the year in the minors but I think Tre has done a pretty solid job filling in our depth issues. Especially if its a condensed schedule where injuries are much more likely and relevant, or if there is a taxi squad due to the AHL not running or something.

Not saying this deal is fair and that I would honestly prefer Toews over Kane for Calgary but calling Pelletier a B level prospect is not accurate. He was very likely to make Team Canada for the WJC last year but got injured leading up to the tryouts and missed it, at the time he was 4th in the Q for scoring only behind the Lafreniere and his 2 line mates

COLUMBUS FANS PLEASE

You know Ledge_And_Dairy, I just answered the team on "who was the worst fans on this site". I was honest in saying that even some of my fellow Flames fans were disrespectful at times, and you were first on my list. I constantly see you adding things like 'tf', 'wtf', and several other rude and disrespectful acronyms / comments throughout your replies; sometimes they even push berating. I know you will come back with something that you would probably not ever say to my face, but relax. This site was supposed to be for fun, to learn, to chat about sports etc. You are not a real GM. You are not at any level to have the respect or experience to truly respond or back up a lot of what you state. And you certainly have no right to, from a distance behind the protection of your computer, to talk to anyone the way you do. You aren't the only one, just the one I see the most on here. As much as I want to block you now, maybe you might for once have something intelligent and respectful to say. As for your ask, I personally would take "Korpi" over "Big Save Dave" any day, but that is just my respectful opinion. Life is to short to add F*&%##$ to any reply, and you or anyone else for that matter are certainly not worth it.
Cheers to all those who reply respectfully and even try and help educate those trying the learn more about the game, or just have some fun.

rounding it out
I quite like this. I'd take Perry in a heartbeat on a cheap 1 year contract. Was hoping the Flames would've pick him up last year. He just might teach the Man Bun Marshmallows what it really takes to win in the playoffs.
Tre won't give Gadwin and Kylington any more than their QO's as they aren't eligible for arbitration. That would add $475K in cap space.

Building through UFA
This would be an incredibly underwhelming offseason. As such, this is likely the most realistic scenario I have seen on this site pertaining to this team. I suspect we see something similar occurring, give or take a few semantics.
I doubt it's Hall but I could see an overpriced W come in (ala Hoffman) and continuing the disappointment.
For all the talk of shaking up this "core", MAYBE one of them is dealt. They will then pontificate about how hard it is to make deals in this league and blame the cap. They've already begun laying the groundwork for the spin job on this when Tre came out yesterday and stating change for the sake of change.... blah blah blah excuses excuses excuses.
Add to that the leaked info to insiders about the mutual desire to have Brodie & Talbot return. The predictable spin obviously being they will probably come "runner up" for Markstrom but simultaneously they "got their guy". I could absolutely see them trying to do too much as a result of taking (WAY) too long to make a decision on all the balls they have in the air and losing out on a more cost effective Talbot then ending up overpaying for Holtby or Khudobin. As such we are likely to see a similar iteration to this years team next year only an overpriced Brodie and then listen to more bull**** about how "tight" this group is, how much they've learned and how close they were (they weren't. By a significant margin) to advancing and further extending the long era of mediocrity this team has been know for for 16 years.
The only move I don't see happening, in addition to the Hall signing is I don't see them trading Rittich. I would wager your contract projections are pretty damn close.
For what its worth, If it's a choice between seeing what I just described and this proposal: I take this proposal and run. A slight shift of strength in the roster (which will likely have them still finishing 7th or 8th and get bounced in the first round again) but with the caveat there is at least asset acquisition so they can restock the prospect pool faster.

Building through UFA
It's just one year left for Rittich and the market's saturated with 1B goalies this year to play with Jones.
That said, Rittich's very good and if SJ doesn't get Dobby or Greiss (or even Henrik) in free agency, turn that SJ 2020 2nd into two 2021 3rds or maybe 2020 COL 2nd with slight retention and SJ accepts. If CLG is willing to retain 50%, SJ would give their own 2020 2nd (basically a late 1st).

If he's a top pair defenseman, why are you trading him? and why is he averaging 18 minutes a night? He was 5th among all Bruins Dmen in time on ice in both the regular season and the playoffs... so either you are under utilizing your top pair or overstating his role.

You are light on both of your trades for the Dmen. You're giving up a 40pt winger, a #6 defenseman, a nothing prospect, and a 3rd round pick for half of your top 2 pairs (with salary retained). Both guys are signed for 3 more seasons with a reasonable cap hit, I can't imagine that works for either the Flames or the Flyers.

This is the maximum price that Treliving could pay for Stone, I think.
It's a very, very competitive offer for OTT to consider. They may not want to have Frolik in the lineup next year to allow more young players to develop, but they could probably flip him for a 3rd rounder to someone else too. So a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd, and two excellent prospects for a franchise player who could be walking for nothing.
Dorion could do a lot worse.
