Another day, another ridiculous Hutson trade. Habs are <strong>not</strong> I repeat <strong>NOT</strong> trading Lane Hutson until they <strong>know</strong> beyond all doubt that he is not going to be another Fox/Makar/Hughes type of D man. Let's all stop before the entire fanbase goes crazy, deal?!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Andy_Dick</b></div><div>Can we just save these dumb comments from Ducks fans, Canes fans, Panthers fa..ah ok they may be just trolls. Because the Habs have all this cap space with everyone signed and 12 picks in 1st 3 rounds in '24 '25 while other teams are capped out.
You have to be homer not to see the opportunity on the other side and lack of leverage ala Devin Toews whom the Isles had the deal with their cap issues. Everyone knew he was very good!
Something will happen because the salary cap exists and these homer fans are going to look silly, AGAIN, after Newhook and Dach, while Hawks and Avs fans were demanding 2 plus 1sts on each.
Someone create a spreadsheet with a delusion algorithm</div></div>
Sorry but Canes fans would break it as soon as they started claiming Necas (whose career average is 55 points) is worth Slaf or Caufield +, that has gotten be the stupidest thing anyone on this site has ever claimed. Domi with his 72 point season at the same age Necas' 71 points season must be able to return McDavid + Draisaitl + Bouchard by now then!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy316</b></div><div>Even Big Game Dave was surprised he survived the TDL and said Hughes was very open about it.
That said Kovacevic it doesnt appear he really talked too much with either cause their wasnt a market or he see's Slafkovsky's and Xhekaj's Best Friend as the right mentor.
Matheson i think he'll move but he'll wait til the final year and RS if its what is required to get a 1st plus a valuable Prospect as is his style
Im more Worried the fact he coached Harris and Struble as kids and they mentored his and MSL sons in NCAA years later will have an impact on us being willing to move them.
Harris cant grow in this system at this point even if we removed all the Vet's it would simply save Struble not him.
Strubles like 14 games from requiring Waivers and is a bottom pair special teams Dman or at best #4-5 D like Alzner was before he left WSH and his life fell apart
Decisions have to be made though as Engstrom is Wirey and while he listens to Coaches overall very well when it comes to slowing down , enjoying the ride and living his life outside hockey/training he ignores them. It got to the point they locked him out of the Training Facilities i believe it was last fall? Dude never stops training and shows up before the staff 6-7am and leaves last. If he does that for Coach Houle in Laval he'll rise quickly as Houle is that "you earn your minutes" Coach who was about to send Mailloux to the AHL before Xhekaj saved his season.</div></div>
I’m not super worried about Kovacevic/Harris/struble and I think a few will probably be traded. I’m mostly concerned about Hughes’ relationship with Matheson and screwing over Guhle because of it. So if he’s insistent on keeping Matheson I’d rather they just trade Guhle this summer for some good assets (hopefully a vet RHD or some high end prospects/pick).
We could end up with:
Matheson - vet RHD
Hutson - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Mailloux/Engstrom

Unless some team offer sheets, Hronek, Canucks are going to resign him even to a one year QO, so I never understand why fans says "If the Canucks can't resign him":
I really don't how much trade value Hronak. If he wants UFA, money, why would teams give up a whole lot for him, when they can use that money on a UFA.

Struble in like 14 games?
Players that dont require Waivers but have a year or a less then a years worth of games.
Guhle
Barron
Xhekaj
Players in the NHL or AHL now succeeding or Joining this year
Mailloux
Hutson
Reinbacher
Engstrom who's waiting in the SHL Finals for his opponent after a 4 game sweep in the ECF. Regardless of the Finish he said he'll join Laval on their Playoff Run
Players set to join us in 2 seasons +
Kostenko who after a decent KHL outing as a 19 year old he went to their AHL league version and became a top 10 D in that league .
Konyuskov is a 22 year old Captain of a KHL team playing 22+ minutes a night and became a consistently offensive player especially on special teams.
We need rid of our Veterans TBH
Xhekaj-Mailloux was a hell of a pairing in Laval , i expect that will continue in the NHL
Maybe keep Kovacevic around and re-sign him cheap to help Guhle and Xhekaj lead the team</div></div>
I would love to get rid of our veterans I just don’t believe that management does.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy316</b></div><div>You dont need any D but thats another conversation
What i wanted to point out is Matheson-Guhle is our top pair most of the year
Savard went out Months blocking 3 shots in a row and gave Guhle basically the first half of the year there
Matheson doesnt get to 60 points IMO if any other Dman in our system players Mathesons RD.
We've seen it the last 2 years that Matheson doesnt play well with others a lot of the time.
He needs a guy capable of handling a lot of 2v1 and 3v1 when he turns over the puck or blows entries.
Guhle for that reason will be here long after Mathesons Traded
Guhle is everything we need him to be at such an early age where he's just Reacting .
Give him space to lead with Matheson and Savard gone , it'll be like with Suter and Weber left NSH leading to the rise of Josi, Ellis and Ekholm</div></div>
It's still not worth giving up Raymond. Who at this point is pretty much untouchable!

I don’t disagree, I see him as chip to get a very good top 6 forward (which we may not have in the system). I like your point even and appreciate how well he performed on the right side.
If we draft someone like Sam Dickinson this year, we may have a true number 1 LHD.

Maybe Newhook + 1st?</div></div>
Chychrun isn’t Bobby Orr, calm down. Can’t understand how you could imagine one moment that he would be worth a top ten pick. Chychrun is a year away from free agency, can’t expect a bigger return than what the Flames got for Hanifin.

Detroit wouldn't even trade Raymond for Caufield.

Guhle is an upgrade on the entire position. Edvinson may have a higher ceiling but Guhle is 1st pairing next year on Red Wings.
And no, don’t trade Raymond for Caufield.

Welcome to CapFriendly. Sometimes, it's not too friendly.
That Brodie contract is the biggest free-agent overpay I can ever remember seeing on CapFriendly.
The last thing LA needs next season is a 28-year-old left-handed rental bottom-6 forward with a $2 million cap hit. If we have that money to spend on such a player, we'll invest it in re-signing Blake Lizotte and keep the second.
