Petro hogberg
If Leafs can get Petro signed, think moving Johnsson, Holl, and Andersen and finding cheap tandem option in goal line you have here is likely option. Also would consider moving Nylander to. West team that misses out on Hall for haul of premium picks and prospects. I’d keep Kerfoot as 3C and go bargain vet hunting to fill out rest of bottom 6… hopefully Martin back for cheap. Start season with Dermott on right side top 4, if he flourishes, great, if he doesn’t can move him as part of trade looking to upgrade. Not giving Robertson, Sandin, and Liljegren spots unless they force Leafs to keep them on big club in during camp/preseason.

More like Fleury and a third for a 5th. Maybe more for a team to take a 7 million dollar cap dump off their hands. Be a first for the cheaper than cheap Melnyk to take that contract off Vegas’ hands

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>Any scenario that "fixes" Tampas cap problems you will get 4000 comments stating problems just like what you just said. I have yet to see one solution to fix Tampa, where a bunch of people didn't say "well that doesn't work" or "why would that person waive". Or I keep the young guys and trade the guys with NTC's. Then when I trade them I get the above comment.
Viscous circle. End of rant haha.</div></div>
Probably get so many of those comments because it’s a valid point. Maybe if they hadn’t given half their team no trade or no move clauses it wouldn’t be such an issue lol. Think about it, why would a player want to leave a consistent contender in a beautiful place like Tampa, Florida, where there is no state tax, if they have the contractual right to stay? Killorn’s no trade becomes modified this year, so he’s movable. Palat is a year away from his being modified so maybe you get him to waive. Johnson, maybe if you find him a decent spot where he’s promised more ice time, but he’s certainly not going to want to go to a dumpster fire organization like Buffalo has been. Maybe Detroit with the Yzerman connection, but best bet would be in a year he agrees to waive to go to Seattle since he’s from nearby Spokane. Or accept that keeping all three of top RFAs is unlikely and move one for some soon to be ready prospects. Sorry to say but there’s no easy fix to Tampa’s cap crunch

Feel like you’re really low balling Cirelli here. Also why does Johnson waive his no trade to move from Tampa to Buffalo?

Keeping Sergachev Cirelli and Cernak
Killorn is most likely to get moved because this offseason his no trade becomes modified no trade so he can still be traded without his permission. And in flat cap world you have to give up assets for cap relief, not getting a first for McDonagh even though he’s still useful defenseman

Take what you said and ask yourself why someone who has a clause in their contract that can let them stay on a team like Tampa, in a city like Tampa, agree to waive it to go to team or city like Ottawa or Jersey?

Brodin can play both sides and is way better than Dumba. Dumba is a taller Barrie, who was leafs best right shot defenseman last year, didn’t make him a good fit. I’d rather see the 6 best defensemen they can dress over a guy who isn’t half as good but happens to shoot right.

Dumba sucks why you giving up so much to try getting him? Brodin is smarter move if you’re talking Wild trade. Trading Kerfoot is bad idea as throws what little center depth Toronto has out the window

What if we didnt sign JT
With the exception of you saying he’s in decline, you’re not wrong with what you’re saying in hindsight. Definitely possible it reset the numbers for Matthews and Marner. And no way do you move Kadri without having JT there, but how do you not go after him? I didn’t think at the time he was realistic possibility but was pretty happy when we won the bidding war for him. Not signing him probably would have meant not having to get out of Marleau’s deal quite as badly as we ended up needing too and maybe could have used that pick to acquire better defensemen but we’d still would have had to go find a 3C also

I don’t even know why some Leafs fans want him. He’s trash. Even if flames retained half his salary Leafs would still be overpaying him.

Not even close to enough of a return for Nylander. Laughton for Johnsson doesn’t make much sense for Philly either when they have Giroux, Vorachek, Konecny, Linblom, Farabee, Frost soon, hopefully Patrick, plus still JVR. They’re very deep down the wings so why add to it and take away middle depth at same time?

Yeah I think they can get both done but could cripple their depth. If rumours of the Blues & Petro negotiations are true maybe Leafs can get into running for him if he makes it to free agency, then look at moving guys out for prospects/ picks to overstock cupboards with cheap talent.

Always liked Reimer in TO but really only added him because if Canes bring in a goalie, they have to move out a goalie and they’d be more likely to want to move the more expensive of the two. Either one would be more of a throw in, could just as easily not take either and find a different guy to tandem with Campbell

Probably, definitely if had more than one year on his deal. Switching Pesce and first for Hamilton Is still nylander + though. Adding the fact Nylander and Andersen cap hits are higher than the actual cash they’re owed helps Canes too as they aren’t the richest of teams

Agree they’re less likely to want to move Dougie but he’s the better player and more of what Toronto needs. Their De’s biggest problem wasn’t defending as much as couldn’t trust Barrie, Ceci, or Marincin to get the puck out of the zone safely.

To me, for all that, it would have to be for Dougie. That probably loses us the extra first but it’s just future trade bait for Leafs anyway

Then when barkov needs a new deal you have a markar at .925 for 3 years.
They are not winning this next 3 year year.
But they only have Bob for so ling.
Sell high on Ekblad and rebuild your team on one guy.
Also you cut slary that the Leafs will gladdly help with.</div></div>
1. While widely reported owner wants to shed $, doesn’t mean the new GM will just be giving assets away. Plus you added Hall as UFA which goes against shedding $, or him saying he’s prioritizing winning
2. Ekblad could net them multiple 1sts plus prospects if they decided that way or an elite forward like Nylander to join Barkov and Huberdeau
3. You won’t have to worry about resigning Barkov or Huberdeau because they won’t want to stay for a rebuild when they barely sniffed playoffs thus far in their careers
4. While a talented deep draft, there really isn’t a lot of top Defenseman outside of Sanderson and Drysdale who should be gone by 15, rest are going to be bitof a reach

Leafs fans absolutely know how weak they are on right side and most have pined for Parayko for two years now. Problem with every Leafs and Blues trade idea is they both are looking for cap space. Any Parayko to Toronto trade would require a third team, one with cap space and preferably a need at the goaltender position
