Yup, especially after this run. Also, Palat can fetch a 2nd.

We've all seen guys with NTC's and NMC's get tossed around the league, those three little letters mean absolutely nothing to me, after all, no matter how good you are, you are always replaceable, the great one was traded, why can't those guys be traded for the greater good of the team?

cause they don't have to be traded if they don't want to. Obviously they could waive, after all most people don't want to be where people don't want them to be. However Tampa is the best team in the NHL right now, and they pay no state tax, there is no reason for them to leave.

Because they have to waive their NTC or NMC to go to said team.... the team can’t just trade them whenever they like, they have to waive to where they’re going.

Dude... if Tampa is the best team in the league and these guys are a huge part of it, who wouldn't want them on their team, especially is they go to places where they'd be a good fit to the team, I could have found better teams to fit them to, but I was only looking at other teams cap space, that being said, these guys are still good and could very well land on each and every team in the league right now, probably even of their own choosing

Take what you said and ask yourself why someone who has a clause in their contract that can let them stay on a team like Tampa, in a city like Tampa, agree to waive it to go to team or city like Ottawa or Jersey?

No treade clause, Jesus Christ, I'd just like to take a moment of silence to thank God that a lot of you guys aren't actual GM's in the league... ... ... Starting... ... ... Now... ... ... (stands up with closed fist in the air)

Killorn is most likely to get moved because this offseason his no trade becomes modified no trade so he can still be traded without his permission. And in flat cap world you have to give up assets for cap relief, not getting a first for McDonagh even though he’s still useful defenseman

So do you understand that those NTCs mean that Palat, Johnson, and McDonagh can nix all three of those trades if they don't feel like leaving the best team in the league, in a state without income taxes, to join teams that all missed the playoffs? All of those guys presumably took less money on their contracts in order to get full NTCs to prevent exactly this from happening. How do you plan to convince them to waive their NTCs?

Well if you're a mature enough veteran, you'd understand that these trades are for the greater good of the team, and with those contracts, you can chose teams to go to, and like I said, these guys make the team good, Tampa has good prospects to replace them and these guys know it, let's just hope that these guys stopped sucking on their baby bottles and understand why they're being traded, I mean look at the Neal/Lucic trade, the two guys on each of their teams were bringing the teams down, thats what will happen to Tampa pretty soon if they don't make cap space for the 3 great young players Tampa should keep, if they don't keep the guys, I see the team going downward, and pretty quickly

So your hope is they're willing to uproot their lives in sunny Florida for the greater good of the team that's getting rid of them and sending them to a bottom dweller in Detroit, New Jersey, or Ottawa? Yeah, good luck with that. Those guys got full NTCs in their contracts for a reason.

Exactly, they have NTC's for a reason, and if Florida had the cap space, I'd send all 3 there, but they don't, they have awful contracts of their own to get rid of, regardless of who you are and where you play, doesn't determine where you could go, even with NTC'S, pretty sure Lucic and Neal didn't want to move, but they did, Luc did better in the playoffs than in the regular season this year, Neal got back on his feet in one season with the oilers, these guys (Johnson, palat and McDonagh) could make almost any team good too, they really could, and the Detroit comment, I believe they're just tanking, something the league wants to get rid of, they've got a lot of good prospects already, they just need a goalie in my opinion, then they'd be a playoff team, definitely not a cup contending team but a playoff team for sure

Neal didn't have a say because he didn't have a NTC, and Lucic was waiving to go from a team that finished 2nd worst in the West to the top team in the West, which also happened to be the closest team to Edmonton geographically. It's not a comparable situation to asking Palat, Johnson, and McDonagh to waive in order to leave a team that's probably going to have just won a cup in order to join a rebuilding team in a less desirable climate/tax situation. I'd be shocked if any of those three accepts a trade to a non-playoff team this offseason, and mildly surprised if they accept any trade at all.

Detroit isn’t one goalie away from playoffs. After Larkin who is our 2C? Who is our d-core after Hronek? You know very little about Detroit with statements like that and Detroit also didn’t actively tank that’s what happens with continued success and wanting to continue a playoff streak.

NMC/NTC are there to protect the players as they most likely sacrificed cash to get them. Players have families and don’t want to move for the greater good of a team they won’t play for. This isn’t some epic Hollywood movie, these guys are just that guys with families.

Well of course this ain't Hollywood, if it were than every game would be fixed for a certain team to win, and if you're saying that about the wings, maybe you should go back to see who else they've got, the wings have Martha, Svetchnikov, Rasmussen, Bertuzzi, Veleno, Zadina and Hirose up front with Seider, Cholowski, Hronek, Lindstrom on the blue line, now you just need goalies and a few other just to fill in the empty spots to win games, did you not pay attention to who they've been drafting in the last 3-5 years? The fricken wings are already stacked and then you have a really good chance at getting a guy like Lucas Raymond or Alexander Holtz this off season and an early second and third that could get you a great goalie, even if you traded that second or third as a package deal for a decent goalie, open your eyes, there's a reason why Yzerman came back, they're going to win a whole lot earlier than you think

You’ve clearly never watched Detroit mentioning those players. After Larkin they have no bonafide top 6 center, Rasmussen and Veleno aren’t ready for 2C on a playoff team. Bertuzzi would be more of a second liner on a playoff team and Mantha could be a first liner if he could stay healthy. Zadina could be a second liner as soon as next year (hopefully) so optimistically we need another top 6 center and a bonafide top line winger. Looking at defense we don’t have a 1D, Hronek is a 2-3D and Seider hasn’t even played prolonged in the NHL. Cholowski didn’t make decisions quick enough last year and may play bottom pairing next year. Lindstrom is a defensive bottom pairing/PK specialist. So we need 2 more bonafide top 4 D and Hirose is trash which speaks to your knowledge of Wing players. Open your eyes this isn’t a video game where you can solve Detroit’s problem in one year.

From Hollywood to video games, hahaha, damn it's been years since I played, but yeah, that's why there's free agency for guys like Krug to join the team, Gudas is very responsible defensively, Tayler Hall could come over too, there are a lot of options in free agency this year, why are you acting like it's the end of the world for Detroit? Like I just said, there's a reason why Yzerman came back, he knows that they'll win as close as next season, of course this ain't no video game, of course this ain't Hollywood, how about not being lazy and swallowing your pride and taking guys you don't approve of and make the team better? Or has this world really gone down the drain and everyone is just one spoiled brat that wants a team full of McDavid's and Chabot's? Well guess what? That will never happen for any teams in any league, unless your league is in high school still, so enough with the Hollywood and video game comment's and don't be lazy and look around and make something work with what you've got, have you tried that yet on this site? Have you made at the very least, one team that you like? Remember, this is called Arm Chair GM

There is no guarantee that Krug or Hall sign with Detroit let alone both. Me being realistic is not the same thing as acting like it’s the end of the world. Detroit doesn’t have the pieces to compete and that’s fine, we’re rebuilding and adding to our core. You simply don’t know Detroit’s roster and farm nearly as much as I do. I’ve improved numerous and posted a few realistic ACGMs so not sure how that’s deemed “lazy” but rather realistic so how about you research content before getting defensive when someone questions you about it. Remember, you don’t have to hit publish on every single ACGM especially if you want someone to critique it.

I only mentioned Hollywood movies/video games because you think players will void their NTC/NMC which they initially wanted for the greater good of a team they no longer play for. You have yet to provide a single reason why someone would want to get paid less and go to a losing team except for the greater good of a previous team.

Detroit’s not going to lose if Palat joined, he'd bring great leadership to the team, just as the other guys would, there wouldn't have to be any guarantee, Krug and hall aren't the only options, and like I said about being a mature veteran, these guys would understand why they are being moved, even if they get moved and get paid less, they could land just as big contracts once expired just as Edler did in Vancouver, I mean would you have signed Edler to a 6 million dollar contract? That is a serious question, the guy's highly overrated, and these three guys i just moved are a whole lot better than him, that being said, they could very well make more than him, but they aren't, Johnson already and obviously dry swallowed the low payment pill, he's really good, he deserves at least another mill on his contract, I just find it bad that you all think because a player has a NTC/NMC contract, a player is untouchable, everyone is easily replaceable, regardless of how good you are, and teams wouldn't be helping Tampa in this situation, Tampa would be making the teams better, I could seriously see Palat bringing Filppulas game back, McDonagh solidifying the Devils defense, and Johnson playing a consistent top 6 role in Ottawa, I seriously don't know how you can't see that, the 3 teams already have good players playing other roles on each respectable team, it really does blow my brains away seeing that you do not see that, I mean if I offered you Draisaitl and McDavid for the top 5 players on the team you cheer for and you said no, I'd laugh it off and walk away, that's exactly what you are telling me right now, I can't see why you don't think it would make each team better, even these veterans could be able to see that, and im pretty sure of that, they'd all make the playoffs next year

Literally no one in this thread is making the argument that those players are bad or wouldn't make the teams better, and I have no idea where you're getting it from. Everyone is trying to tell you that it's unrealistic to expect Palat, Johnson, and McDonagh to waive their NTCs for those teams, that's it.
