I hope so. As Q used to say "we'll see". Nicolas Beaudin and Wyatt Kalynuk have a shot at cracking the lineup too, which points to a huge logjam of defensemen.

That will work. Good idea. Love the feedback. I thought about putting Dach on the top powerplay instead of Kubalik or DeBrincat. Thoughts?

Possible with the goaltending direction. Good thing Hawks still own their 2021 1st round pick. Why 30th place instead of dead last 31st? What team gets the honor of dead last?

Sure it's an affordable contract. It should be more affordable. All these quarter millions add up.

Lineup Preview
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>I agree with what you said and for that reason I see Kahun making top-9. I see lineup like this:
Saad-Toews-DeCat
Ejdsell/Kahun-Schmaltz-Kane
Kahun/Ejdsell-Anisimov-Sikura
Kunitz-Kruger-Hayden
Kampf</div></div>
I really hope Jokiharju is kept off the opening night roster and given a chance to work on any holes in his game in a lower level league before they put him up against NHL competition. He was a #29 draft pick and it wouldn't be out of the norm for him to need more than 1 full season after being drafted to develop into an NHL ready D man. I think the Hawks rushed Gustav Forsling into the NHL. Hopefully they let Jokiharju simmer a bit before throwing him into the fire. Brandon Manning was acquired for a reason, right?

I think Hawks are banking on getting compliance buyouts in the next CBA in 2020 and using it on Seabrook.

If Snow is Fired
I enjoyed reading this. I'm not familiar enough with NYI to give much critique. However it all seems pretty well thought out and it would really be exciting to see more Tavares in the playoffs. He's such a great NHLer. 12M is fair for him, esspecially considering how team friendly his current contract is.

Schmaltz #1 Center Next Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MikeyVC97</b></div><div>This is a joke, right? #8 is not a center, he can't win a faceoff to save his life. This is THE biggest problem in my eyes is the lack a depth a center that leads to puck control especially on the power play!</div></div>
No joke, and yes schmaltz is not the best at faceoffs. However, he has improved over last season significantly. That might seem like polishing a turd, but I predict that next season schmaltz will average 50% at the dot which is a slight edge over Anisimov. And his two way game is high end. His back checking is the best on the team and his positioning in his own zone and esspecially in the neutral zone is always disruptive to the opposition. 60 takeaways vs 18 giveaways this season and a +6 on a struggling Hawks team. I stand by my opinion of Schmaltz developing into #1 Center. This will free up Toews for more ice time on the powerplay where he can win some faceoffs and score more. Thanks.

Pittsburgh deal
With the emergence of Schmaltz and Anisimov's struggles at the dot, the solution is simple. Anisimov moves to LW in the top 6. A solid top 6 forward with Anisimov's age and track record is worth the value of his contract, esspecially if he can stay healthy. With that said, if Anisimov is traded at the deadline the Pens are a good fit if the numbers can work. Hawks should get no less than a 1st in the upcoming draft, no salary retained.

Chicago Blackhawks signed Richard Panik (2 Years / $2,800,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeyplayer1</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>loganreid</b></div><div>While it is is a great deal for what he has produced. I feel Schmaltz, or Motte, or Hartman, or whoever is put into his spot in the lineup will succeed. The guy has been waived by two other teams previously for a reason. Chicago could just as easily tried to move him for a pick.
Look for Kruger/Hossa or both to be moved. Hossa would have to waive his full NMC though.</div></div>
That is just simply not true.
Panik had many troubles trying to break into the league. The biggest one was consistency. Which he has finally found with the Hawks.
This is great for the Hawks. He will continue to play next to Toews and if the Schmaltz-Toews-Panik line continues how it played the second half of the regular season he will be a 50 point player.
Kruger will almost certainly be gone. Hossa will not be traded for several reasons.
I do believe however that this deal should have been somewhere around $2.25M -$2.5M per season. Bowman offered more than Panik anticipated right off the bat and accepted without negotiations. Absolutely absurd. Terrible managing by Bowman.</div></div>
Agree with everything said here. If the Hawks were not under the cap crunch then 2.8 million is justified. But Bowman needs to be a bit more frugal. But if you compare this contract to what Bowman gave Bickell 4 years ago, 2.8 million is fair. Panik will likely produce at the same level as some of the better Bickell years and he can play with Toews.

Chicago Blackhawks signed Michal Kempny (1 Year / $900,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeyplayer1</b></div><div>Why on earth did Stan Bowman give this someone who was a healthy scratch for 1/3 of the season a raise??</div></div>
Kempny probably would have played more, especially after the trade deadline, if it weren't for older veterans that are "predictable" in their own end that Q allocated ice time and roster spots to instead. This contract, while a small raise, is very fair. Kempny is likely to play all 82 games next season and might even fill a top 4 spot. If Kempny is good for 20 points and a better than even +/- and a 50 or better corsi without protected offensive zone starts then $900K is a steal. He also brings more physicality than most other Days on the roster.

Hawks 2017-2018
Bravo. This is a great scenario. I have to add that the Hawks organization is known for having a work ethic second to none and as fans we must trust that these players will train hard to get better in specific areas of their game. Anisimov probably is practicing faceoffs as I'm typing and Seabrook might need to lose a few pounds to get some speed back. The backup goalie market this off season is pretty deep so Hawks will for sure be able to upgrade Jeff Glass for cheap :)

I'm a fan of Trading for Duchene due to his speed and faceoffs. Scoring also wouldn't decrease that much if you consider the crapstorm Duchene played through on the Aves and the offensive zone starts and utilization of Panarin.
Where is Roszival? You know He'll be back!
I've heard Pokka is skilled but really slow. Any other options on D?

Unlike most people who would say some nit picky thing like no way arty will be on the 3rd line or Montreal won't give up a pick for Paniks rights or some stupid biased crap, I'm gonna hand it too you that this look like a pretty realistic scenario. I love Simmonds and I'm a Hawks fan, not a Philly fan. With that said, I would imagine Simmonds is pretty much un moveable. Even if Philly sucks, he sells seats and sweaters. Let's have some faith that this summer Anisimov will learn how to win a faceoff. ?

Aves D is so bad right now. Maybe if Hawks added a decent young D prospect that was NHL ready along with Hjammer would it be a better fit for the Aves? The young kids need a veteran to learn from and who better than Hjalmarsson.
