Description
Let's not throw out the baby with the bath water. The Hawks needs cap space and they can find it. Sweeten the deal for LVK or trade Kruger to TOR...or where ever. $3M is NOT a big cap hit. The term of 2 years is NOT a hindrance. He's like Liam Neeson in the movie Taken... "What I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for opposing Power Plays"

Then follow the Penguins model. Who had signed Malkin and Crosby for a GREATER % of team cap than Toews and Kane are right now. Let the young guys develop (Especially those young Dmen! Sink or Swim!!! I really don't care if they're 1st in the western conference or 8th. Being 1st and getting swept just gave us a worse pick. Oh and on that note...STOP trading away 1st round picks!

Side note...I didn't remove Jeff Glass...he may be replaced with a vet near league minimum. I simply didn't replace him.

I see in your comments you obviously acknowledged this, but I cannot see Vegas passing over Trevor Van Reimsdyk for Marcus Kruger unless the Blackhawks through in an additional asset. Pretty sure the Blackhawks will not go into the 2017-18 without a more qualified backup, maybe Keith Kinkade? They will also need to find some cap room/get creative to bring in some additional defence help.

I hear ya! I just look at the other defensemen around the league that LVK can take and I just don't see LVK taking TVR. They can get 12 -15 of him around the league. I like TVR, really I do, but I've seen how much he gets sheltered minutes and at 25 I don't think giant leaps of talent are coming from him. He'll be a solid bottom pair guy, but in the playoffs he'll get 10 min a game.

TVR is the Hawks #5 and likely would be for the next few years. Not great but consistent and does a good job. He isn't flashy but knows his role and plays it very well. Also a very smart player.

However, there are going to be at least 15 other teams that have to leave a real #4 D-man unprotected. Those are the D-men that Vegas will most likely target. Kruger fills a #3C spot with tons of defensive and PK responsibility on a team that won't have much high end talent.

Bravo. This is a great scenario. I have to add that the Hawks organization is known for having a work ethic second to none and as fans we must trust that these players will train hard to get better in specific areas of their game. Anisimov probably is practicing faceoffs as I'm typing and Seabrook might need to lose a few pounds to get some speed back. The backup goalie market this off season is pretty deep so Hawks will for sure be able to upgrade Jeff Glass for cheap smile
