Description
First time trying this so I might be way off but here is my attempt at making the Isles respectable again next season.

TAVARES SIGNS (don't see him staying with the isles for anything less than 12M per).
- SIGN JOHN CARLSON. Would take a heft chunk of cash but would instantly make our D respectable.
- SIGN DE HAAN, he along with Carlson (and better D coaching) would make our D much more stable.
- TRADE Pelech, Mayfield, E McAdom, and 2019 5th rounder for Keith Kincaid. He's coming off a decent year and is LI raised. Not many other G options but something has to be done. I'd be willing to part with some assets to try and solve the problem.
- SIGN KULEMIN to much better deal of 1M per, if able. Would bring stability to 4th line at much better price point.
- BUYOUT CLUTTERBUCK (terrible contract Snow gave him)
- GIVE HO SANG AND JOHNSTON much more of a chance than last season. K Bellows and if needed Dal Colle are waiting to step in for anyone underperforming.
-In this scenario we would likely either keep our 2018 picks or package them to try and trade up for an elite prospect.
----Obviously a handful of wildcards here. Being able to sign/re sign some of these players may or may not happen. The trade value for each side could be off as well. Every player on the third line could be a major question mark. And the goaltending could still be an issue even with Kincaid. Even with the player improvements we would need much better coaching to be a legit playoff team. I however think this would be a step in the right direction.

Let me know what you think!

I enjoyed reading this. I'm not familiar enough with NYI to give much critique. However it all seems pretty well thought out and it would really be exciting to see more Tavares in the playoffs. He's such a great NHLer. 12M is fair for him, esspecially considering how team friendly his current contract is.

"fixing" our team is signing De Haan to a long term contract he hasnt done anything to deserve, John Carlson who would be nice and Pulock to another undeserved contract.

So our solution is signing players to massive contracts and then having to release Barzal and Beauvillier once their contracts are up because we cant afford them?

Kinky is not a starter, for one.
For 2, if you sign Carlson you have to ditch Boychuk, for cap reasons.

There is so much wrong with this. We arent in a position to fight for the cup; we need to rebuild.

More of an Isles guy. I was going to respectfully respond to your critique and actually agree on some of the points you made until I looked at the most recent Isles team you created on April 18th. On that team you had the following free agent signings:

Gibson, Christopher
1year
$925,000
Tavares, John
7 Years
$10,250,000
Kulemin, Nikolai
2 Years
$2,700,000
Gudlevskis, Kristers
2 years
$870,000
De Haan, Calvin
6 Years
$4,500,000
Barberio, Mark
2 Years
$2,750,000
Lehtonen, Kari
1 Year
$4,150,000
Chiasson, Alex
2 Years
$1,600,000
Bouma, Lance
1 Year
$1,000,000

RFA

Nelson, Brock
3 Years
$3,100,000
Pulock, Ryan
4 Years
$4,000,000
Prince, Shane
1 Year
$1,000,000

1. You criticize me signing De Haan and Pulock long term when you did the same exact thing.
2. You say Keith Kincaid is not a starter but Kari Lehtonen is a better option?
3. To sign Tavares would take at least 11Mill but probably more like 12 per, and it would be an 8 year deal.

While I appreciate the input lets just not be hypocrites here.
