Building Blocks 2
Canucks fans can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure both Poolman and Pearson are slated for LTIR "retirement" so this move doesn't open up that cap space for them and MIkheyev was actually really quite good for them. So, your trade has them trading a capable middle-6 W that had success with them, 4 picks (including a 1st), and some LTIR deadweight for a solid RD prospect and an actual deadweight RD that doesn't crack their lineup even without any offseason upgrades at RD (an upgrade that should be a priority for them). In light of that, you're likely gonna have to revise your thinking on that one.

Proposed Lines Updated with Strome Traded
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>Simple math, he played with DeBrincat, then he played with Kane, he's not a great skater, he's not a great defender, he's a a poor face-off guy, he also can't play wing. That's going to hinder value, can't play wing, can't win 49%+ of face-offs? Yikes. Teams that are contending need 200 foot players. He is not one of them. There is zero intensity in his game.</div></div>
His FO% was 47.7 this season which isn't poor, plenty of centers post around 48%. The rest I won't argue, however, you are ignoring his IQ is off the charts, he creates plays and sees the ice well, his passing is extremely good and he has incredible hands. He's an offensive zone center, plenty of teams have them.
Now, I am no Strome fan and I'm sure you've paid attention I've talked about trading him for the last year, but there is not a chance in hell the Hawks should only get a late 1st for him; again, only a 30% chance of becoming a fulltime NHL player let alone a guy who can put up .76ppg at the ages of 21 and 22 regardless if he had a good linemate or not.
Make this relevant, here's his draft class. Take a look at the bottom 10 picks in his class. Out of those 10, you can maybe argue 2 of them are better then Strome at this point. Now what is the chance you happen to draft 1 of those 2 players knowing it's a gamble? Pretty low odds.

I don't know a lot of examples of what the return is on RFA rights being traded, but a few years back when the Hawks traded the RFA rights to Andrew Shaw we got a high 2nd round pick in return. That trade was made at the draft when picks have more immediate value so maybe a 1st rounder makes sense. Thanks for commenting.</div></div>
Strome gets at minimum a 1st, he’s a solid 2C with room to grow

Pittsburgh deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>You're high if Kempny and Anisimov are getting you two firsts. :laugh</div></div>
There is no reason to trade Anisimov for anything less.
And why wouldn't Anisimov get a 1st + a prospect when a guy like Andrew Ladd - a very comparable player - got a 1st + Marco Dano?
Look at what comparable players have got at the trade deadline in the past.
Besides, Anisimov isn't even a realistic TDL acquisition for most teams considering his contract - he's not even a rental....
Makes no sense to trade Anisimov unless a team is a making an offer Bowman couldn't refuse. I mean the notion that Bowman will listen to offers from a bunch of tire-kickers is hilarious. And I'm not going to base Anisimov's value on his play over his past 20 games either... Anisimov is criminally underrated and the value being tossed around on these boards is hysterical... Some have proposed AA for a 3rd round pick while they act like they're doing Bowman the favor..... C'mon...
I could see Anisimov being traded at the draft as part of a deal to move up..... But you don't trade him for anything less than a 1st & 3rd or (2) 2nd round picks + a prospect.
Besides, if the Hawks are looking for center, they would be better off signing one or trading for one and moving Ainisimov to LW on the 2nd line if he's not part of the deal. That's where he belongs anyway....

Off-season moves, a old new look.
Chayka was quoted last summer as having no interest in Hossa's contract.
He took on bad contracts in the past in order to get prospects or picks as well. His plan was to tank for a few years, trade for bad contracts in order to get extra picks, and be in the playoffs around now. If he keeps his GM role for next season...his original plan needs to come to fruition, right? I don't see how he can double down on the bad contract plan if it already didn't work.
I don't think some fans realize that Hammer has been a pretty big disappoint for AZ so far. They're obviously not going to trade him for Hossa's contract, and since the Blackhawks are not looking like a Cup contender I see no reason to trade for him at the TDL, but I'd imagine Chayka would listen to offers from contending teams.

Off-season moves, a old new look.
So <a href="/users/HawksFan28" target="_blank">@HawksFan28</a> I AM of the opinion that Chayka should desire Hossa more than any other team out there. BUT let's keep in mind that he's still taking on $3M when it's all said and done. So...it would be one thing to include a player of negative value...like...Maybe if they had Matt Beleskey or since you're a Hawks fan...if AZ was trying to unload Bickell like the hawks wanted to do years back. In those examples yes AZ is benefiting because Hossa's salary is soo low, but Hammer isn't in this category.
(One strategy you might consider is trading Bolland back to Chicago. Just gives AZ this benefit for 2 more years....AND depending how much research you want to do...they might actually save money here depending on how the insurance works for these players/teams. CHI only has the LTIR for 1 year so they'd be down too.)
So how does this make sense??? I'm going to start at the 10,000 foot level. Would AZ take on Hossa in exchange for "Future Considerations"? The answer is no. AZ would be just asking to pay $3M that they wouldn't normally have to. Hossa doesn't play hockey anymore. There shouldn't be a debate so far. Now if there a question about Cap Floor...it's $53M this year and at the high level is ~$56M next year...even if that cap goes to $80M...the floor probably won't go up the same amount. So they're @ $46M for next year...as it stands today AND they still need 2 goalies, 3 forward, and 1 Dman for next year. IF they go the ELC route...(@ Approx. $1M roundly speaking) they're $4M from the floor. ALREADY!!! If they resign Reider or Domi or they can get to the floor without any UFAs.
The point of all of this is....The Hawks will have to give AZ something. What??? That's debatable, but Chayka isn't stupid and he's not going to do the Hawks any favors. He knows the Hawks want to shed that cap and I would expect him to use his leverage his the best of his ability...except Datsyuk was a terrible trade...so maybe you have a point! JK He probably learned his lesson.
***EDIT*** <a href="/users/Palhal" target="_blank">@Palhal</a> has a great point, I'm forgetting bonuses and there will certainly be bonuses with this many ELCs.

Chicago Blackhawks signed Richard Panik (2 Years / $2,800,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>loganreid</b></div><div>While it is is a great deal for what he has produced. I feel Schmaltz, or Motte, or Hartman, or whoever is put into his spot in the lineup will succeed. The guy has been waived by two other teams previously for a reason. Chicago could just as easily tried to move him for a pick.
Look for Kruger/Hossa or both to be moved. Hossa would have to waive his full NMC though.</div></div>
That is just simply not true.
Panik had many troubles trying to break into the league. The biggest one was consistency. Which he has finally found with the Hawks.
This is great for the Hawks. He will continue to play next to Toews and if the Schmaltz-Toews-Panik line continues how it played the second half of the regular season he will be a 50 point player.
Kruger will almost certainly be gone. Hossa will not be traded for several reasons.
I do believe however that this deal should have been somewhere around $2.25M -$2.5M per season. Bowman offered more than Panik anticipated right off the bat and accepted without negotiations. Absolutely absurd. Terrible managing by Bowman.

TVR is the Hawks #5 and likely would be for the next few years. Not great but consistent and does a good job. He isn't flashy but knows his role and plays it very well. Also a very smart player.
However, there are going to be at least 15 other teams that have to leave a real #4 D-man unprotected. Those are the D-men that Vegas will most likely target. Kruger fills a #3C spot with tons of defensive and PK responsibility on a team that won't have much high end talent.

Everyone is writing off Jurco wayyyyy too quickly. Bowman didn't pick him up as a trade deadline acquisition meant to make a difference last season. He traded for him as a Richard Panik. Hayden Rasmussen Jurco would be a great checking line.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>graderman</b></div><div><i>Yes to your question. Brian Boyle was signed for $2M as a UFA. He brings soooo much more to the table than Kruger ever could. For the Hawks Freddie is overpaid by a million but because his GM is Bowman, he is paid his current amount.</i></div></div>Eh, Boyle had 10 more even strength points than Kruger this past year in almost twice as many games and with more offensive zone starts against lowest quality of competition. Kruger's job isn't to score, which is why he starts in the defensive zone 60% of the time against the highest QOC - no one in the league that the same shutdown deployment with the same possession increase as Kruger. His transition numbers (successful zone exits and entries) have been 2nd only to Kane over the last 3 seasons and his passing stats are top 3-5 in any given year for the team. The closest comparison to Kruger is Boyd Gordon, who was also making $3m, though even he didn't have quite the same DZ deployment. Considering that Kruger would have been arbitration eligible this year and that advanced stats are now allowed in arbitration, Kruger would have likely been awarded a similar contract anyway.
I like Boyle and he'd totally be fine for a 4C for that extra $1m in space, but it's not exactly accurate to say that Kruger is overpaid.

Kruger has better CF%, CF% rel, FF% and FF% rel while having 29.7 oZS% and 70.3 dZS% while Boyle had worse CF and FF stats with 36 oZS% and 64 dZS%
Kruger has a .268 PPG while Boyle has a .262 PPG. Kruger has a .329 adjusted PPG while Boyle has a .295 adjusted PPG
Kruger has a 50.7 FO% while Boyle has 49.9%.
Kruger is a +6 over his career. Boyle is a -23 over his career.
Kruger has 2 Stanley Cups
And once again Kruger took a very very risky 1 year deal being underpaid to help the Hawks.
Kruger is in his prime as a 26 year old. Boyle is 32 nearing the downfall of his career.
So graderman please explain to me how Kruger is not worth $687,500 more than Brian Boyle.

McNeil - most players who go past their ELC but have never graduated to the NHL will not receive a raise on their next contract. I don't know much about Petrovic except that he has had concussion issues and played a sheltered 3rd pairing role (which I'm unsure the Hawks need).
