No money was retained on the Mrazek trade, actual team cap hit is $2,000,000 below what is shown.
DET owns the 2018 7th round pick (DET) since the condition was not met in a trade with CGY in July 2017.
DET was awarded a compensatory 7th round pick for winning the NCAA bracket challenge
*DET has the option to reclaim the pick if it is in the top-3. If DET elects to reclaim the pick, VAN receives the 2019 2nd round pick (DET) and 2020 1st (DET)

I would think a 2018 3rd and maybe another later pick might get it done but I wanna see more of Hicketts before I move XO. He's only 24 and real-life DET has a lot of old fogeys that are winding down so he could really establish himself. His underlying metrics are ok all things considered... I'd like to wait on this one for a little if that's ok.

yeah that's fine. I'm looking for cheap bodies to add for the playoffs.
Whatcha think? Since we left off on Merkley + 4th for Kunin, but you were hesitant to move Merkley, I think this is a fair compromise.
It's a tough decision. I'd be getting a guy closer to the NHL but giving up a guy who's leading his Liiga team in goals as an 18-year old. I'm not sure whether Kunin will remain at center, so I'm only giving him a very slight edge wrt position. Fortunately (I guess) I don't have any January trades so this would have to be done in February. I think my counter would be to either remove the 6th or move the 4th to 2019 or 2020... is it cool if we revisit in a few days?

Any interest in Marcus Sorenson or Scott Harrington?
Not really, especially since I want to use my Feb. trades for bigger moves. If you and Matt find a bigger swap to make, I could consider adding a guy like Sorensen for AHL depth. Not going to hand over picks for him though. Cheers bud!
Awesome, I'll write it up. Thanks for granting me a St. Louis kid - and good luck with the Finn! FYI he has not signed an ELC so you won't find him on a roster.

Matt Beleskey + 2018 4th Boston vs used Happy Meal toy from your childhood.
Personally I'd want a little more - would rather eat the contract while swapping someone on my roster for a good prospect. Also, sentimental fast food pieces should be on my untouchable list
Only way I'd move him is for another good prospect. Would you negotiate something around Gallant + another prospect for Drake Batherson?
Gallant + Kotkansalo for Batherson?
Maybe we could do something like this but we'd need more ... i'd rather just give up another prospect or a pick for Gallant ... or both but then they wouldn't be as good.

Ok, if it's just a pick I'd consider taking a 2018 3rd for Gallant... There are not that many other prospects in your system that are really interesting to me (except those worth more than Batherson).

Sorry, that's not enough for me. I won't be able to find similar talent to Gallant in this year's 5th round; he was just picked in last year's 3rd round. I wouldn't want to budge from a 2018 3rd. Otherwise you can make an offer for Gallant and an additional piece/pieces with Batherson going the other way.
