I think this is a player whose been getting consistently underrated by a lot of people on this site. look at the line mates he's played with through the years. he's turned matt moulson into a 30+ goal scorer, Andres lee into a 30 goal scorer, etc... now with a legitimately talented guy like eberle on his line, I think he's gonna tear it up this year.

not to be mean to whoever said this but part of someone's reason for why the Islanders were gonna be last in the NHL was they said on this site, 'Tavares is ok. Maybe top 20 forwards.' He makes everyone around him better, that's part of why i think the Islanders will be in the playoffs.

I think they'll be a bubble team. people who say they have no chance are so wrong. I mean... a lee-tavares-eberle first line has a lot of potential to do serious damage

I'd probably put Tavares in the Top 20 players, so it's not really a dig at him, tbh. But if I'm building a team and can pick any players from any team to start with, he isn't in my first 10 picks.

Kane is not better than JT ... he is super overrated ... he can't play a defensive game ... now he doesn't REALLY need to, cause he's a winger, though guys like JT can play more of an all-round game.

If a player is THAT good offensively, then they don't need to be a two way player. I never said Kane was a more complete player than JT. If I'm going by who the most complete players are, Kopitar and Bergeron would be up there.

When I think of best overall players, again, I think of who I would take if I was drafting my own team from scratch. Kane's level of offensive output makes him a top 10 player in the league without question.

Kane has a Hart Trophy and an Art Ross. Kane is the second most dynamic player in the league (McDavid). JT is a fantastic player, but I'd take Kane in a heart beat

Ironically, that is the majority of your contentions for players when I present "advanced" stats.

The fact is that Patrick Kane can have offensive production that is unprecedented every. single. year. John Tavares, yeah, he's offensively talented, but he isn't a guy I want to rely on with less than 2 minutes and say, "hey, go tie this game up," or "we need to score to stay alive".

Patrick Kane is a stud on offense, more so that it offsets his defensive play.
