What player will become the most expensive and when do you think it will happen?

I think that Rasmus Dahlin or some other Up and coming Player whose ELC expires when the ceiling is high enough for someone to reasonably get more.

The only way we're gonna see someone surpass the McDavid contract is if they are a generational, elite talent in the same vein as McDavid, or when the cap rises significantly along with inflation.

The first person to surpass McDavid's $12.5 will be.....Connor McDavid. When his mega deal ends he'll be 28/29, a UFA and more than likely the cap will be much higher. I don't see anyone commanding more than McDavid since he's one of the top 2 players in the league.

The other concern is the new CBA in 2022, right? Potentially, the term on contracts could be limited to fewer years, which I would assume means players would have bigger asks. I.e. four years of a UFA aged 27-30 should cost more than 8 years (age 27-34).

For example, Brent Burns signed 8x8 til he's 40. That price would be higher if it was only four years, right? Something like 12x4...I'm genuinely curious if this makes sense.

So like what the NBA has going for them. Yes, it makes sense.

I think that someone worse than McDavid will have a higher contract than him because the ceiling will go up and contracts will go up, and soon enough you have 20 million dollar contract.

I feel like the better question is who will break the 16.666666667% of the cap ceiling since the cap will rise and the AAV will get higher as the years progress
