If we acquire the fifteenth overall selection in Friday's draft and either Michael Brandsegg-Nygard or Konsta Helenius is available, I hope that we would spend it on one of them rather than McGroarty. (Personally, I'd prefer Zayne Parekh or Carter Yakemchuk, too.)

WPG won't trade to a WC team, they will want him out of conference.

I'm also not sold they trade Gibson. He's been very reliable and they are going to want some kind of security net for their young players.

Dostal has been arguably better. Now is the time to sell on a goalie with a 3 year term with Dostal ready. Same as CGY did with Markstrom to give Wolf the net. Getting top 15 pick would be gravy for that. Doubtful Gibson is worth that when Boston traded the better goalie and had to take longer term with Korpisalo over Holl's 2 years yet only got the 25th pick.

Pagnotta just tweeted this

"Word is Anaheim actively trying to trade goalie John Gibson. He has a 10-team no trade list. Sounds like Detroit and another club have been engaged in talks with #FlyTogether."

And in the just posted rebranding videos on the Ducks socials Gibson is noticably absent

Maybe from Winnipeg. They'd likely ask for a prospect they need though.

Not getting 15 in a Gibson trade. I wouldn't trade for him at all, but Yzerman has already said he isn't trading "premium assets" for a goalie. Best bet is Berggren, a 2nd, and Husso.

I said the same. At best a 2nd and a mid prospect to take a 30 something struggling goalie with a 3 year term. He isnt worth the Ullmark or Markstrom price.

No chance. I would much rather just ride out Husso for the year, but Yzerman seems to want him.

Moving off that term without retention should be the prize at this point. Dostal need to be the 'guy'

guys post all kind of click bait nonsense looking for attention hoping something sticks so they can look like super hockey analyst. Doesn't mean it's true.
Nor does a "social media" video mean F all.

They got a really young team building. The last thing they want is to stifle their growth with them always having to worry about the puck going the other way.

As much as I can agree that they can get something out of Gibson, it just doesn't make sense in the long run of the team.
They got 1 goalie if he's out, nothing else they have is very good. They don't need the cap space. They are fine carrying it.
You can argue that Dostal had 1 season and it wasn't really all that much better than Gibson's.
Half of which is probably based on the fact that Dostal thought he was playing for something, aka a position, where Gibson long ago realize there is no point in trying to keep the team afloat and it's better to tank.

So I wouldn't go putting eggs in the basket that Dostal is the "better" goalie.
It seems like a bad move on ANA part. Better to have a guy like Gibson behind those young guys so they can push it and grow and every mistake they make won't be plastered on a highlight reel.

see the other post I just made.
Does not seem like the right move for ANA.

Not having a goalie with awful metrics in the last 5 years or so and signed long term to big money and giving the net to a better and younger goalie that fits the Ducks window is a bad thing? Certainly a take.

I’m not taking anything off the table after that dumb ass Walman trade, but Gibson has been **** for 5 years. Not worth a first.

He was single handedly carrying that team on his back with his play till he just gave in.
You and I both know it. At some point you have to ask yourself what's the point, who cares, finish last and get better.
The team in front of him has been dreadful. But even with that dreadful team he always helped them not get destroyed.
So no I don't really agree with you. It's not like Dostal's metrics aren't dreadful as well, and that's with him trying.
Fact is 30 is young for a goalie. It' not old. They can easily play till their mid 30s.
His contract length isn't bad nor is his cap hit that they can easily fit. With an improving team around him, ANA seems better off with him than without him.
