Drop the Gibson retention to zero and sure. As is Mazur and pushed out 2nd don't buy a down grade in net and spending 10M in cash for Gibson to play in Detroit. For that return I'd rather keep Gibby.

The Ducks wouldn't do both of sign Carrier and get Trouba. One or the other. Personally I'd take a run at one of the UFAs: DeMelo, Pesce, and Roy. Not very interested in Carrier. The Ranger's 1st in 2026 is also a pretty meh sweetener on that side. A lot of "too little, too late" to be said about it.

Have either of you actually looked at Gibson's stats? He's been horrific the last 5-6 years (and if your answer is "the team is bad!," look at his GSAx numbers compared to his backups over that time. Now is an amazing time to unload him while some GMs seem to still think he doesn't suck. Maybe you can get more for him, or get that price without retention, but this would still be a good deal I think.

Husso is just as crappy and you're in effect paying him 7.95M (his salary plus Gibson's retention). I'd rather pay Gibson 6.4M. As I said Mazur and a delayed 2nd don't change that.

EDIT: And I don't need to look at the stats. I watch every Ducks game and know exactly what Gibson is and isn't.

Wings aren't trading Mazur and Ducks aren't taking 2 years of Holl and retaining 3.2 mil of Gibson for 3 years.

Detroit isn't trading Mazur. He is exactly what this team is missing. Gibson, even at that retention, is not worth losing him for.

I absolutely agree, I just think GMs overrate Gibson so I would definitely try a similar move from Anaheim's perspective
