I could see the Chicago trade only if they are dead set on trying to contend now. But those Seattle and Calgary trades…ooof. These are so bad for CBJ. Calgary trade is just so bad. We would be on the hook for Kadri, who I do like, but for 5 yrs when he is bound to decline. No way.

I could see Seattle having interest in Laine (and that's already been reported), but I doubt they'd be at all willing to give up the 8th overall pick for him. For all his draft pedigree and goalscoring ability, Laine doesn't have that level of value right now in my opinion, due to his cap hit and spotty track record of availability.

Even if they were trying to contend, they still wouldn't give up a 2nd for Texier.

Right? How is spending a 2nd on Texier a "win-now" move?

I would think if this were the trade that the first would be this year and the 2nd next year.

I’m not gonna waste time imagining to know what they’d want
