To Chicago? Probably not. Worth a 3rd? We'd be selling him short.

Utah has a terrible marketing team (The "Utah HC" is a horrible choice for a team name, even if it is only short term) but their GM is not as bad as the team name. There is no way they given up their first round pick for that offer.

Hawks decline. They aren't paying a 3rd for a 4th line C rental.

3rd pair guy
You can only play somewhere so many years before you become known for it.
Colton Sissons until Duchene and Johanson started sucking was a career 4th liners good at Faceoffs like Evans, now he's a 2nd pair guy at a point in his career he's able to handle it. Evans is a Defensive Shutdown Center who lives for scoring goals in transition 5 feet from the net, he's built more for 3rd line Center in the same was a Vermette was or JGP is.

Fact is there was only 2-3 Faceoff Centers capable of 50% faceoff wins they all got 1st round picks + at the TDL
Doesnt matter if its Lindholm in his career worst year, Plekky before he washed out of the NHL,Hanzal before he washed out or Staal before he temporarily washed out of the NHL.. The story remains the same , each Trade Deadline teams overpay for Good Centers who suck at faceoffs to avoid paying the overkill required to get one who can win 50% + faceoffs. I mean MTL had no business getting that second first from WPG for Monahan for 35 point player who had been injured the last 5 years straight with regularity , but we did as he's 55% faceoff win rate capable

Evans if you RS on like MTL will this TDL
You can capitalize on the market getting a Plekanec Return
Which at first glance is "Big whoop a 2nd rounder and 2 AHL prospects"
But we flipped those prospects together to CGY to get Kulak
Kulak in turn got us Lane Hutsons pick in the 2nd round.

MTL will wait and sell Evans to a cap strapped Contender
Or maybe a team pulls a VGK like they did the year PIT was trying to land Tatar
VGK stepped in with no need for Tatar, buying him at a severe overpay just to bench him
They wanted to assure PIT couldnt fight that Hagel or Bonino type addition to make in time for a 3 peat

Either way more profit in waiting on Evans
More logical to move out Dvorak and keep Beck in the AHL until after the TDL as his Defensive side needs work
Coach Houle turned criticisms about Roy's Defense into his strength in just 30 some games , as he's done for many
Beck needs the stint there unlike a Kapanen's who's Defensive Game/Faceoffs defined him for years now to the point he's played for Finland at all levels Internationally including as Captain. Kap is someone you'd ideally break in on 2nd line with Stamkos though and Dach on his wing for maximum effect as he can complement their game while improving his offensive output.

MTL has to rush with some of these players but not at a loss
Nor should Utah be expected to give up Quality for Engstrom then just leftovers and long shots. (no disrespect to Struble but he's literally left over )
