One thing that I don’t like about this defense, even though I could get behind it, but the one thing that is holding me away is we need to find someone like Luke Schenn for Rielly. What I mean by that is we got to get someone who is big strong, always defensive minded because when we Tampa and beat them (Not saying we got too far), But when we did, that was the best offensively and defensively by a country mile we have seen Rielly be. So I don’t know if Montour and Theodore one 2nd pairing is great and love that trade But like a guy like Dylan Demelo Kind of fits that Schenn build.

Its a good looking team for sure.
I cant see Cowan working on a 4th line. Or even the bottom 6. Especially in the playoffs.
Knies feels wasted on the third line. He is going to have a big year coming up here.
Knies to LW2
Cowan to LW3
Joshua to LW4
Its actually hard to make this work lol
All of a sudden the Leafs have a glut of LW's when they have been starving for them for so long

The Joshua signing will look terrible immediately and Tanev is already 34. Giving him 4.5 even for 2 years is likely poor money spent. We did just see how quickly someone can fall off, Brodie went from being one of the best defensive defenceman to barely an NHL player within a calendar year. Some idiot GM is going to give him 3-4 years and you and all other leaf fans (it's highly questionable that you are indeed one) should be praying Treliving isn't that dumb.

Joshua is going to be a terrible contract for whoever signs him. He'll never produce the same again.

You are right of course. And Tanev is that guy. This D corps is almost overdone. Theodore is kind of wasted cap space here
McCabe-Montour
Rielly-Tanev is the adjusted pairings. But Theodore on the bottom pair is nuts.
In this case, you probably end up letting McCabe walk at the end of the season. And have Theo replace him on the left side.
No matter what you do here, you are going to wasting big dollars on the bottom pair that isnt really sustainable.

Does Theadore play mainly RD? if not may Theadore-Montour
Rielly-Tanev
Benoit-McCabe
Signing Montour and getting Theadore doesn't add the nasty clear the front of the net d-man the leafs need.

The only the only thing with Tanev is he is injury prone and of course, he will want a big boy contract (deservedly so), so that’s the only reason I’d want demelo. It’s also the same exact reason why I don’t want to sign Peasce but Still take them if that’s the last option. I’d personally like:
Rielly- Demelo
McCabe-Matt Roy(Mainly because He’s good on both sides of the puck And he won’t want as much so we Can spread around the money. But I’d still take a Montour or Theodore.
Then Benoit-Hakkanpaa.
this also gives us like the first time ever we’ve had 3RHD!!!

Vegas passes. Not adding Roy and a second to take on more salary. Theo 1 for 1 with Marner retained would be the only thing I’m doing.

Id be happy with
Rielly Pesce
McCabe Tanev
Benoit Edmundson
I think that is totally realistic. And costs no assets to achieve. Resign Liljegren as a backup plan. As Tanev and Edmundson are bound to get injuries here and there.
Start testing out Cade Webber and Noah Chadwick over the year as well.
