Canes have agreed to a $7.4m AAV extension with Slavin, just finalizing structure and term of either 5-6 years.

Jackets and Canes are heavily engaged on Laine, and it doesn’t include Necas.

Canes and Sharks are talking on Ferraro. Sounds like the Canes might be moving a pick at this years draft + an unsigned prospect (not Nikishin).

Necas talks are extremely complex, as the most likely outcome is a futures deal as the fit just isn’t there for a ‘hockey deal’. Sounds like futures plus roster player gap filler for Necas. The Canes might flip the futures for a star caliber player, or could become a full blown 3 team deal.

Guentzel is gone, and it sounds like the Canes have given 3 teams permission to speak to his agent. Chicago was the only team I was told.

Sadly, I was also told the Canes are very pessimistic on Fast’s ability to come back and play. Sounds like he has a quite seriously neck issue.

Canes are entertaining the possibility of moving Jarvis to center. They are also still trying very hard to get Nikishin out of the KHL sometime this year.
