If Holl can get 3.4 mil in UFA so can Chatfield.

    Holl will be bought out.

Perron isn't re-signing with Detroit to be a healthy scratch.

    Copp isn't being traded.

Neither are Walman and NTC NMC Petry.

Pesce is possible but he probably gets 6 mil and 7 years.

Neither Yzerman or Chicago is making that trade.

Marchessault is possible but he'll likely be looking to sign with a Cup contender.

Maatta likely gets traded to make room for Edvinsson.

Your guess is as good as mine what Yzerman will do at goalie. 🤔

    Isn't Wallman a good shut down D?

Also 15 million in cap will cost A LOT more than a 1st to dump

    Walman plays well with Seider.

He's available in the right trade.

Like he'd be included in a trade to acquire an Ekblad for example.

I doubt that Petry comes west of the Mississippi, Walman is worth more, and the Kings have worse cap stress than the Red Wings. I don't think that this one works for either team.

    1. Minnesota would want more quality back, but Gustavsson for Holl trade makes some sense. Holl is from Minnesota and Bill Guerin loves good characters guys. They need a RD and we need a goalie. Both have two-years left on the deals with similar Cap hits. There is trade potential.

    2. No. Yzerman isn't doing that. Fabbri & Husso are gone after next season. There is no reason to give up such a high pick when there is still over 4M left in Cap space! Giving up a 1st to dump salary, but then spending that Cap space stupidly. Perron extra guy? Määttä's contract can be easily moves also.

Fun fact: Minnesota doesn't actually need dmen, they have 6 under contract for next year with Chisholm and a bunch of prospects to look at giving ice time to in a season they're not contending for anything because the dead cap. They also don't need to move Gus, especially if they're not convinced Wallstedt is ready. He has 3 NHL starts to his credit, a nightmare game against Dallas and solid games against the 2 worst teams in the league after the trade deadline.

Plus Wallinder when you guys have Peart, Lambos and O'Rourke doesn't seem necessary or all that beneficial.

CHI counters with DET's 2024 15th overall for dumping those 3 contracts, and that is being generous.

I honestly believe that. But, I guess I could see a world where KD gambles on taking a pick next year and it possibly being even better than this years pick.

Hawks decline. They are still looking to add more 1st round picks, but not badly enough to make this trade. Takes more than a single 1st to move out that much cap. That's more than $15m in actual salary for next season plus two additional years on Copp.

Yep, I think the only thing the Wild would consider in a trade as a position of need is a top 6 winger (preferably LW I think since they have Boldy/Zucc currently playing RW). Anything to not have MoJo playing 2nd line LW again.. frown

But there's some decent options for bandaids available in free agency and contrary to this forum's belief, they have a little bit of cap to play with this year so unless a trade seems like a no-brainer, I don't think they'll make one.
