First off Walman is not a rental, two years remaining on a great contract for a first pairing D-Man.
Danielson and Sandin-Pellikka > Zegras.
The reports are out, they are shopping Zegras. He is coming off his worst year and his value is at its lowest.
DeBrincat is a higher value player and was traded for a late 1st (25th OA), bottom six player and B-C level prospect.
With that as a model, a trade would look like Zegras for 2025 1st (top-15 protected), Rasmussen, and Alexandre Doucet (you could change the prospect up a level to William Wallinder and lower the current player to Joe Veleno or Robby Fabbri).
First off, Fabbri is a rental.
Second, Walman is a LhD.
Third, no credible reports have us shopping Trevor Zegras.
Fourth, the hilariously ridiculous idea that two kids, neither of whom has ever played a single NHL game and one of whom has never even played a single professional hockey game on the North American continent, are right now more valuable than a 0.73 PPG proven top-6 forward is typical hopeful homerism. There is a gulf of difference between potential, even projected potential, and proven performance.
Fifth, as I recall, DeBrincat was traded for pick #7, pick #39 and pick #72.
You stand corrected.
