Sorry to hear you don't like it man. This is just my opinion, so I could be (and almost like 100%) most likely wrong about every move the Flames and all other teams will make this offseason lol. I would say for the Flames though, they lack a true direction right now. They are bogged down with a lack of true speed or skill. Guys like Zary and Coronato have impressed me from the game footage I've seen, so hopefully they become something more.
I simply don't think they can just run it back with that team unless they are confident that Huska can somehow figure out how to get them to play night in and night out as this aggressive rush team that focuses on constant cycling and quick zone entries. Just my 2-cents though.
I definitely don't watch the flames as much as you, what do you think is their biggest needs or future concerns?
Sorry to be so brash, you handled that and responded like a Champ
I agree the Flames and specifically Huberdeau could use more speed in the lineup, so I’ve been recommending a Better and/or Faster Centre for Huberdeau, like perhaps Chandler Stephenson (hoping he likes the idea of being a Top Organiziational Centre) and a Speedy Gritty Finishing Winger like Anthony Duclair, but what we’ve been lacking is guys who want to be and play in Calgary and our identity is Big & Gritty, so bringing in a guy like Ryan Graves and a Cheap 3rd Pairing RD in Kovacevic or Hakanpaa to compete with Pachal is where I’d start
So long as we have Kylington, we don’t need a Grzelcyk or Girard type player, especially given we have two other Young Offensive D-Men in Miromanov & Poirier who have something to prove, which then makes Liljegren unnecessary as well. A couple Veterans to Mentor & Shelter them and eventually Brzustewicz is what we really need on the back end. Tanev returning to play with Kylington would be ideal, but who knows if that happens. Ppl have suggested Gio or TJ Brodie, but I say No Thanks to that; it’s time to move on and forward, not go backwards
If we have Pelletier (who likely signs for under $1mil/yr btw), we don’t want or need another Small Left Shot Winger in Robertson
We’re not giving up on Vladar or Huberdeau yet and will keep and see what Kuzmenko, Sharangovich and Mangiapane do given they are playing for new contracts while seeing if Zary, Pospisil, Coronato or Pelletier can unseat any of them. I’d also rather target/pursue so many other Young Centre’s over Frost as well, who I’m just not a Fan of
I would prefer a better 4C, but not Kampf. I’d rather Pospisil be 4C and would like to bring in Samuel Blais or simply bring back AJ Greer for that 4th Line Checking/Grit role when needed, something Adam Klapka & Dryden Hunt might be able to do and fill in for us too
Finally we need to Trade and move-on from Markstrom while he still holds decent value and hand the reigns over to our Goalie of the Future in Dustin Wolf 🐺
