I like the idea I just don't think it fits Montreal's timeline well. Even if Demidov and Lindstrom are both gone they have a lot of options to move around.

McGroaty to MTL read comments
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>The Jets aren't giving McGroarty away for a late first and low quality package that does nothing for them.
There would need to be one quality piece in there.</div></div>
Perhaps Savard goes back in the deal with retained salary as well. Chevy might be sold on solidifying his defence with a cheap reliable vet.

McGroaty to MTL read comments
This could easily be just a package starting point, depending on how much leverage Winnipeg has. If McGroaty does change his tune, but Winnipeg feels they can get loads of assets for him, the package will change a lot, probably centred around a win-now move, rather then just getting futures.

Calgary Offseason in a Nutshell
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>Best to just stick to your Canadiens there bud. You have no clue or idea when it comes to the Flames, their Future, their Needs and the Type of Players we want, which definitely doesn’t include any of the Players you proposed Trading for or Signing via Free Agency. The Grade is definitely an F on this one</div></div>
Sorry to hear you don't like it man. This is just my opinion, so I could be (and almost like 100%) most likely wrong about every move the Flames and all other teams will make this offseason lol. I would say for the Flames though, they lack a true direction right now. They are bogged down with a lack of true speed or skill. Guys like Zary and Coronato have impressed me from the game footage I've seen, so hopefully they become something more.
I simply don't think they can just run it back with that team unless they are confident that Huska can somehow figure out how to get them to play night in and night out as this aggressive rush team that focuses on constant cycling and quick zone entries. Just my 2-cents though.
I definitely don't watch the flames as much as you, what do you think is their biggest needs or future concerns?

Calgary Offseason in a Nutshell
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>We have no center depth we aren’t moving Frost for a late 2nd</div></div>
Yeah Christ I did not realize how badly Laughton and Couturier fell off this year until after looking at your comment. But as I said, the Flames could target basically any young center on the market if they feel the fit is right, just though Frost could be an interesting fit.

Calgary Offseason in a Nutshell
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchJr</b></div><div>Leafs aren’t adding a 1st in that package; you’ve lost the plot bud 😂</div></div>
Dumping a contract a 2.4 million dollar contract, and getting a 30-goal scorer is worth more than 2 players who haven't been anything more than depth players on the Leafs. I would say you could probably swap it for a second-rounder it would be closer to market value, but it is not out of the realm of possibility.
But fair point anyways, I just think 82 games of Sharangovich is worth more then who the Leafs would select.

Calgary Offseason in a Nutshell
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WJC_Enthusiast</b></div><div>IMO that's a gross overpay for Mangiapane.
I'm a big fan of his game, but Girard, and a 1st is too much for him.</div></div>
That's fair, I could see the package just being a swap with a late-round pick, but to me it really depends on the situation with the Avs, if they retain salary, and if there is a long-term contract involved. Girard had a pretty down year, and at the cap hit, he hasn't really impressed me this year.
Also if Val is still gone I could see them targeting a longer-term replacement, especially if he comes back and his problems continue.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Thats really not a trade the Canucks should make.</div></div>
I agree, but I think they are unfortunately going to. It was just reported this morning that they like Laf, and based on the recent track record of Alvin and Rutherford, I wouldn't be surprised if they go for it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Onlyfairtrades1</b></div><div>LOL. Sure if you say so.</div></div>
It was reported today that Laf or Kakko could be axed because of cap constraints. Considering Dach, the former third overall pick with little success at the NHL level, was traded for the 13th overall pick of a pretty weak draft, and a third-round pick, I don't see how a roster replacement, a mid-first-round pick, a stable defenceman, and a third-round pick isn't enough.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Ty Smith is not worth three picks, and the Ducks have three LHD studs entering the AHL, there's no reason to acquire him at all.
I also don't see Colorado doing that deal, they are real light at their RHD depth chart.
I suspect neither of the UFA's sign those deals, but those are the two targets.</div></div>
Yeah, after reading through the thread, I got rid of that trade cause it made no sense when looking back on it. Zellweger and LaCombe basically cover Smith as a player. I think Colorado doesn't really care to keep Merkly, they have no real attachment to him from what I see, but I could be wrong.

Too much cap going to the Wild for them to accept, never mind Goodrow's M NTC</div></div>
I think I just like the idea of the Rangers getting Hartman, cause he can be a good replacement for Goodrow if they are going to trade him while being more productive. But you are right, I forgot how tough the Wild's cup space is.

Good point. This trade is probably the least likely to happen unless the Rangers add some big sweeteners. I think the Wild would like the type of player Goodrow is, while overpaid, he can still be of value to the team. That being said, the cap and term probably make it too difficult to manage. Either way, they could dump Goodrow to an upcoming contender with cap space, and look for an underpaid player.

Laf will probably sell for less than that if he is traded. He is an easy offer sheet target if he makes it there, and a lot of teams will just offer him a 4.5x2 deal.
