I don’t think a Necas to Anaheim is going to happen this summer. Carolina stated that they want a star roster playing going back to Carolina and I’m not sure if I’d even consider Necas a star player.

I think a Vatrano + Lacombe + EDM 1st is plenty fair for Necas but Carolina might be asking too much for Necas, so I’d rather just target someone in free agency or someone who isn’t going for a kings ransom.

Spending to acquire Necas and then having to ink him to a $7M long term deal just doesn’t feel like the move.

The Ducks aren’t going to trade a player who’s younger and has a higher PPG just because the media made a full 180 and wants everyone to hate Zegras. Zegras had 2 60+ point seasons in his first two years in the league, has one bad year because of an injury and suddenly everyone thinks he’s some garbage player? It’s pretty ridiculous the amount of hate Zegras is getting right now because he got hurt.

You can want the moon, doesn't mean you'll get it. Zegras is a much higher value player than Necas.

And no, Necas is not a better all around player than Zegras, he has all the same warts defensively and half the hockey IQ. Only thing he's better than Zegras is he has a slightly better shot and is a faster skater, but he's a complimentary piece, not a play driver.

The media really turned on him this year. Bedard is the new darling and early season there was nothing on Zegras. Then when Bedard wasn't automatically McDavid the NHL put it's focus back on it's last golden boy and wonder why he's not a 100 point player yet, clearly he's a disgrace somehow.
