Logo de Sharks de San Jose-Easiest Pick in Franchise History.
Logo de Blackhawks de Chicago-Chicago shocks the NHL here with a pick that not many expected. Outside Bob Mckenize that is. The Hawks get Bedard some much needed size and strength.
Logo de Ducks d'Anaheim-This selection is one of the harder ones now that both Levshunov and Demidov are here. Both are positions of need, but Demidov has one of the highest ceilings in the draft and they load up their offense for years to come getting someone that will be the top line RW next to Carlsson and McTavish.
Logo de Blue Jackets de Columbus-Columbus becomes a very lucky team that strikes gold yet again in back to back drafts. Levshunov falls right into their laps and this allows them to build an incredible D-core for the future. With this selection they may end up trading Jiricek to get Fantilli some potent talent to play with. Levshunov is certainly the higher talent between himself and jiricek.
Logo de Canadiens de Montréal-The Habs address two needs with one pick. They get some more much needed size and they add someone that can fill in behind Suzuki as the 2c.
Logo de Utah Hockey Club-Utah, welcome to the NHL take your pick of either LHD or RHD that will all be top 4 defenseman in the near future. Utah selects a kid that is already playing in the mid-west and has all the talent to become a teams No. 1 defenseman.
Logo de Sénateurs d'Ottawa-RHD is a position that could be stronger for the Sens and Parekh has a similar style to Karlsson, could very well be their second coming of EK65. Sanderson's long term d-partner for the future and sorta hometown kid.
Logo de Kraken de Seattle-The Kraken have their choice between Dickinson and Yakemchuk. They go with the RHD here as they are harder to come across with Elite talent and the have some good LHD prospects in the pool.
Logo de Flames de Calgary-Its the only correct answer here. The Flames need help at every position and Iginla is the son of their biggest legend. It is a perfect fit.
Logo de Devils du New Jersey-Devils fans get a good one with the falling of Sam Dickinson. Their D-core will be the best in the league in 4-5 years with Dickinson, Nemec, Hughes and Bahl.
Logo de Sabres de Buffalo-The Sabres go for the biggest riser in Sennecke. They certainly could use more highly skilled wingers with their captain leaving for Florida and Skinner probably not returning when that contract is up. Buffalo will have an amazing team for the next ten years once they learn how to play proper team defense.
Logo de Flyers de Philadelphie-Briere gets his wish of a good Center falling to him in the draft. The perfect center product to pair up with Michkov. Catton has skill pouring out of his ears and will be a natural fit along side the Flyers' superstar.
Logo de Wild du Minnesota-The wild need some more offense and they take the guy who brings it. Parascak has proven he is an offensive machine at every level and will bring some more firepower to a wild team that needs help in that department.
Logo de Sharks de San JoseLogo de Penguins de PittsburghThe Sharks already hit Gold this draft and now they hit oil. Connelly has the talent to be a top 5 selection hands down, the off ice stuff has been addressed and taken care of and he is ready to turn a new leaf with the Sharks. Can you imagine the potential line of Connelly-Celebrini-Smith. In 3-4 years it would be one of the best lines in hockey.
Logo de Red Wings de Detroit-Yzerman goes with Eiserman. Stevie-Y knows that goals do not grow on trees and he has had luck drafting goal scorers in the past. Eiserman can score and the rest can be taught for his game, Detroit gets a good one halfway through the first round.
Logo de Blues de St-Louis-The Blues go with the team need at RHD and get the Brother of the previously mentioned Jiricek. Maybe even making a deal with Columbus to get David as well, sending over someone like Snuggerud or Dvorsky to get some brotherly chemistry on the team.
Logo de Capitals de Washington-The Capitals take one of the most NHL ready prospects in the draft. Maybe not the highest ceiling but he will come over and give you a strong 200 foot game right away. Additionally, the Caps could use some NHL ready talent.
Logo de Blackhawks de ChicagoLogo de Islanders de New YorkThe Hawks addressed their future Franchsie D-man in the beginning of the draft and now they go out to get someone that can play with Bedard. A magician with the puck that will get Bedard more opportunities to score should not be passed up.
Logo de Golden Knights de Vegas-Vegas takes a strong 2 way center whom they will most likely trade at the deadline so its a wash.
Logo de Islanders de New YorkLogo de Lightning de Tampa BayAfter moving back to gain some more draft capital the Islanders take a kid that reminds me of Tom Wilson. Offensively gifted and uses his body to punish people. If he pans out anything like Wilson the Islanders get a steal at 20th with Greentree.
Logo de Kings de Los Angeles-The Kings are in need of adding some Wingers to their prospect pool. Chernyshov is a big body that plays a hard game and is already playing against men in the KHL. On top of that he has a nose for the net and can get the team some scrappy goals.
Logo de Predators de Nashville-Trotz is back to swinging big and gets a great power forward in MBN. I have him way higher on my list but this is a steal and a half for the new Preds regime.
Logo de Maple Leafs de Toronto-Toronto needs some more RHD prospects outside of Topi Niemela. Emery has been a big riser as of late and could end up shooting himself into the top 20. Toronto adds to their biggest need outside of goaltending.
Logo de Avalanche du Colorado-Colorado goes for a bit of a stretch and grabs the big 6'5" centerman that moves well for his size and age. He has time to grow as the Avs are still pushing for more cups with the current roster and he will be a nice addition in 3 years or so.
Logo de Sénateurs d'OttawaLogo de Bruins de BostonOttawa gets a solid RW prospect that is a year or so away from being ready to make an impact. A great selection for a late first rounder.
Logo de Canadiens de MontréalLogo de Jets de WinnipegThe Habs are thrilled to grab Basha as he slips nearly ten spots from where most people have him. After getting a solid 2c they nail it getting him someone that could be his winger in the near future.
Logo de Hurricanes de la Caroline-Carolina addresses a need they have at the moment getting a guy who projects as their 2c in a few years. They need a solid 2c more than anything at the moment and this could be the answer.
Logo de Flames de CalgaryLogo de Canucks de VancouverThe Flames could take anyone at the moment, they go out and get an extremely talented puck moving defenseman that showed he can be Elite at the college level.
Logo de Ducks d'AnaheimLogo de Oilers d'EdmontonThe Ducks have already got their RW1 for the future and now they go out and get an explosive offensive RHD that will grow into a position to replace Drysdale.
Logo de Flyers de PhiladelphieLogo de Panthers de la FlorideThe Flyers draft the countryman of Michkov in Surin, Doubling up on Centers and getting someone that plays the Philly style of hockey. Gritty and in your face. The perfect person to free up some ice for his teammates and get in on the action.
Logo de Stars de Dallas-The Stars take Hage as they have no real weak spots and can take BPA. Their scouts say he is BPA and that is that.
Logo de Rangers de New York-The Blueshirts add a RW to their prospect pool. A position of need with Kakko and Laf their only true good young RWs.
RONDE 2ÉQUIPEORIGINALJOUEURDéTAILS
Logo de Sharks de San Jose-
Ilya Nabokov
How fitting is it that the Sharks draft Nabokov. They add a their franchise center, his future winger and their future starting goaltender with Nabokov, a name fans already love in San Jose. Nabokov is an electric goaltender winning KHL rookie of the year and putting up some incredible numbers. Yes he is an overager but you cannot discount his skill.
Logo de Blackhawks de Chicago-The Blackhawks go out and get Bedard's former linemate and highly skilled winger in Tanner Howe. The chemistry is already there and this could be a day two surprise as he could end up being a linemate of Bedard yet again.
Logo de Ducks d'Anaheim-The Ducks double down on RWs with Masse being someone that could very well be a scoring 2nd or 3rd line RW for them in the future.
Logo de Flyers de PhiladelphieLogo de Blue Jackets de ColumbusThe Flyers look to solidify their LHD as they have Drysdale and Bonk as young cornerstones on the right side.
Logo de Jets de WinnipegLogo de Canadiens de MontréalThe Jets stop the slide of Kiviharju here. Many have size concerns for him but the skill he has is great. The team that takes the gamble on him will most likely be happy they did when he is a top offensive blueline threat. If he were 6'0" he would be a top 15 selection easy in this draft.
Logo de Utah Hockey Club-Utah goes with the KHL rookie that has a fantastic season with Artamonov. They drafted heavy Russian last year and continue to not be phased by Russians.
Logo de Sénateurs d'Ottawa-Ottawa needs help in net badly and they go with one of the top goaltenders in the draft class with Carter George. Either him or Soogards will be this teams future starter so it makes sense to continue drafting goaltenders until one hits for your franchise.
Logo de Kraken de Seattle-Seattle grabs the playmaking RW from NTDP here to eventually pair with Matty B on that top line. Their hope is Sale-Beiners -Ziemer in the near future.
Logo de Flames de Calgary-The Flames add a kid already playing in Calgary with the Hitmen solid player on both sides of the puck. Plays a strong 200 foot game. Good future middle 6 winger most likely.
Logo de Sharks de San JoseLogo de Devils du New JerseyThe Sharks just keep having a great draft getting a legit top 4 defenseman in the early part of the second round. Now drafting a franchise center, his winger, a franchise goaltender and now a solid defenseman. What a draft.
Logo de Sabres de Buffalo-The Sabres address their needs of a RHD here with Colton Roberts. May not ahve put up the best numbers in the world for Juniors but showed that he can be a strong defensive defenseman.
Logo de Penguins de PittsburghLogo de Flyers de PhiladelphieThe Pens need whatever they can get to help with prospect depth going forward. They are entering a very dark time for the Franchise and they are still pushing to win but their prospect pool is so shallow that it will be a tough environment in the near future.
Logo de Wild du Minnesota-The Wild have their target fall into their laps in the second round drafting heavy on talented winger prospects getting both Parascek and Gridin would make their RW pool look dangerous.
Logo de Penguins de Pittsburgh-Pitt again back at it and taking O'Reilly. Dubas knows what he is doing when he is picking prospects, trust the system.
Logo de Red Wings de Detroit-Welcome back to the Yzershow. After getting some offensive firepower he goes back and selects someone to negate the other teams offensive stars. Shokhrin is a massive shutdown defenseman that moves well and has good vision. Big pick up for the Red Wings.
Logo de Blues de St-Louis-The Blues go all in on getting that Right side of the blueline locked in for the future. If they are able to trade for Jiricek and draft his brother along with Elick they would have a very good and young Right side of the blueline almost right away.
Logo de Utah Hockey ClubLogo de Capitals de WashingtonUtah adds some more size. Looking like they will have the tallest lineup in the NHL soon.
Logo de Blackhawks de ChicagoLogo de Islanders de New YorkChicago adds another solid center prospect to fall into the line up along with Bedard and Moore.
Logo de Flyers de Philadelphie-The Flyers add a RHD prospect to the system a solid puck moving defenseman that locks it down in his own zone and makes great break out passes.
Logo de Capitals de WashingtonLogo de Golden Knights de Vegas
Ilya Protas
The Capitals reach a bit but get the brother of the giant that is already on their roster. A hardworking, tall, punishing player is added to the Caps organization in the mini viper.
Logo de Predators de NashvilleLogo de Lightning de Tampa BayNashville is hitting homerun after homerun here. Getting Shuravin at 53 is a great pick and the style player that Trotz loves.
Logo de Islanders de New YorkLogo de Kings de Los AngelesLou goes for the slick skating Pettersson. Great vision and a good shot, A full season in the SHL will help him develop into a solid middle 6 center.
Logo de Predators de Nashville-A boom or bust pick in my eyes. Trotz certainly is not afraid of those selections as he made a similar pick with Matthew Wood. Big bodied hard working center playing a strong 200 foot game.
Logo de Blues de St-LouisLogo de Maple Leafs de TorontoThe Blues keep on the Defensive Train here getting a LHD that is a lock down. Hard to get around or get the puck through, great hockey iq and smart with his positioning.
Logo de Canadiens de MontréalLogo de Avalanche du ColoradoThe French Canadian play making winger is a good selection for the fans as he is a hometown guy that is a great passer and smart in his own end.
Logo de Ducks d'AnaheimLogo de Bruins de BostonThe Ducks have Dostal to be their next starter and Leenders would be a great goaltender to have developing into his future back up.
Logo de Predators de NashvilleLogo de Jets de WinnipegSolid 2 way winger that has a good shot and fantastic passing abilities. Could be one of the sleepers of the draft.
Logo de Hurricanes de la Caroline-Carolina goes out to get the next goalie in their system. They love Finnish players and Vinni is an outstanding prospect to have lined up behind Kotch.
Logo de Islanders de New YorkLogo de Canucks de VancouverThe Islanders get a guy who fell a bit. a natural playmaking center with good vision and has solid hockey iq to build around. Will be a solid 3rd line center in the future.
Logo de Oilers d'Edmonton-The Oilers go out and get a playmaking center. They need pretty much everything in terms of prospects but Plante is a good one to add to the center core.
Logo de Utah Hockey ClubLogo de Panthers de la FlorideUtah has found success with JJ Moser and Muggli is someone that is developing a lot like him, playing in the NL and looking very good in a men's league.
Logo de Flames de CalgaryLogo de Stars de DallasA swiss army knife of a forward that can fill in at any position.
Logo de Kraken de SeattleLogo de Rangers de New YorkSeattle goes goaltender with the last pick in the 2nd round taking riser in Bryzgalov. Putting up solid numbers almost anywhere he goes, growing his game into a solid prospect.

Gotta be honest...I won't be very happy as a Hawks fan if this is how things play out. Our single deepest position is at the LD with Vlasic at 22 years old just signing a 6 year contract and Kevin Korchinski is only 19. Would be very perplexing to continue to draft LD.

As a Caps fan I'd be ecstatic for Helenius at 17. Doubt he gets there but I'd love it. They'd also probably wait for Protas in the 3rd round. Don't think he's that sought after they have to reach into the 2nd.

The problem with Brandsegg-Nygård for Nashville is he is a Right Wing. Look at NSH, Last years draft, Wood = RW. Year before, Kimmel = RW. Last years promising rookie Evangelista = RW. See what I mean. And there are plenty of centres you could have had them pick. Hage for example. Dont get me wrong, I like Brandsegg-Nygård , but, thats a lot of rights.

But, that said, nice list. Great effort.

Between all of those picks though it is easier to get someone with the qualities you want and switch them from RW to LW. Center is a completely different beast.

Yeah at this point they'd only trade Dvorsky and Snuggerud for Connor and Leon...

I'd love Ilya Protas on the Caps.

That's very late for Dickinson, Hage, and Elick. Also where is Solberg?
