I doubt DET is offering up a 15th overall pick to dump two pending UFA's, but I don't see any reason for CHI to decline if Stevie Y decides to do so. Maybe he just wants CHI to hurry up their rebuild so they can meet in a cup final.

I doubt that. It just might take a little longer than expected, but I think that has already become apparent without a move like this. DET has a lot of great pieces in place and a lot of promise lurking in the pipeline. That cap space could bring in an important piece (or two) of DET's future, as well. But yeah, I think they would definitely need to be getting more out of it than just one year of $7M in cap relief.
