Flyers aren't trading York and that offer isn't enough to get him anyway in terms of value.

Wings pass, nothing in that deal is something Wings Need or want. wallinder is progressing nicely and Fabbri has one year and is not a cap dump.

Not sure I agree, makes no sense from a Sharks perspective. There's a big dropoff in talent shortly after that 14th overall, Gushchin is an absolute stud, and Shakir is very unproven but has as high, if not slightly higher of a ceiling than York. And then there's Atkinson who would cost around a 3rd/2nd to dump. And the Sharks have way too many LHD to begin with, so OP going out an acquiring two more makes no sense to me

I definitely understand the Flyers would likely have York as borderline untouchable though. But purely based on objective value, I'd definitely say SJ is giving up more

Exactly. That trade is way lopsided in the Flyers favor and I'm firing this GM.

The trades range from not good to awful.

It also makes absolutely no sense from the Flyers perspective either.

They have no reason to trade York or clear cap with dumping Atkinson.

I'm gonna have to disagree on the Shakir has higher ceiling than York part because York's ceiling is a 1st pair D. Shakir hasn't even made the Sharks roster and is only a year younger.

I agree it doesn't make sense from the flyers perspective.

they absolutely should dump Atkinson. They are literally at the cap for next year (with about 6 mil to play with if Ellis is done for sure). With Michkov coming over and only 5 legit NHL d-men signed, they'll need to make some moves. I'm guessing they're going to be a bit more competitive with Michkov in the lineup

And typically projected ceiling is based on their playstyle and past production at lower levels when they're this young. Just because someone enters the league sooner than another player it doesn't mean they have a higher ceiling. Shakir may very well not adjust to the NHL level (although his handful of games he looked great), but he also may very well be a first pairing guy.

Wallinder > Bord
Fabbri > Burroughs
The 5th and 6th swap to make up the balance of value blended with cap space savings are not worth it for Detroit.

If Flyers want to clear cap they can just buyout Atkinson, which saves them assets or they trade someone like Konecny or Laughton. They are also allowed to be 10% above the cap during the offseason.

Altough entering the league sooner doesn't necessarily mean that a player has a higher ceiling, but entering the league later isn't exactly a good sign either.

The Philly trade is absolutely awful for San Jose. You move back and give up two great prospects, nhl ready prospects

22 is pretty typical for defense prospects to enter the NHL, especially those coming from overseas. He's pretty much on schedule from when they thought he'd be in the NHL if he plays 20+ games this year
